""Comrades! The kulak uprising in your five districts must be crushed without pity ... You must make example of these people. (1) Hang (I mean hang publicly, so that people see it) at least 100 kulaks, rich bastards, and known bloodsuckers. (2) Publish their names. (3) Seize all their grain. (4) Single out the hostages per my instructions in yesterday's telegram. Do all this so that for miles around people see it all, understand it, tremble, and tell themselves that we are killing the bloodthirsty kulaks and that we will continue to do so ... Yours, Lenin. P.S. Find tougher people.""

Wiki makes for fascinating reading. I am arrested by items like this quote. Sometimes, as here, I am struck by the superlative irony. At other times by an insight into the significance of an event.

If Levity wasn't already in place, Superlative Irony and Insights as a header would cover the fascinating reading, arresting items, quotes, events, irony, insights and significant events posted here.
That's a whopper of a quote/comment (above) and one of your best for being beautifully worded, true, and hitting the mark, deborah!
Don't think for a minute that Hillary, Barak, Pelosi, Schumer, DeBlasio and a long list of lesser lefties are not capable of Lenin-like bloodthirstiness. What do you think the description of opponents as "enemies" is all about? What do you think those who define the other side as "deplorable irremediables" are capable of once our shredding constitutional restraints are finally done away with? No, it won't be kulaks next time. It will more likely be privileged white males. or even more likely simply "HATERS." "Get those HATERS, get those oppressors, kill them!" Foolish enough in your comfort not to see it coming?
Luckily for us we are armed.
As Comrade Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn said so eloquently in The Gulag Archipelago, if only the peasants had offered some resistance. A bat to the head, a fire, using whatever tools they had at hand, anything to slow the tools from doing their job, maybe make them think that they would not make it home that night.
Now imagine ten million American deer hunters refusing government orders to submit. Yeah, that's a different scenario. As long as we are armed, they cannot win.
Not only are we armed, most of the military would refuse to quell a rebellion.
With any luck those who would foment that kind of trouble will get their minds right. Perhaps a quote from the Godfather movie would help.
"Leave the gun, take the cannoli?"
That's a good one, but I was thinking "Either your signature or your brains will be on that contract."
Not a great fit, but I always liked that sentiment.
Mmm, cannoli...
Actually, that is not accurate - I have never had a cannolo.
Ricpic and Sixty do Vaudeville :)
That is a good quote.
And my son - he's no prize - I said to him "Some day you'll have kids of your own"
He said, "Yeah, you too!"
Is this thing on?
I know you're out there, I can hear you breathing.
I'll be here all week.
Try the veal.
Be sure to tip your waitress.
Is this thing on? IS THIS THING ON?!
An integral part of Dom Irrera's standup routine when he was young. And I was young. We were both lean fast whippets. Then he got old. Got fat. Slowed down. Me too. Is this a tragedy? No, it's the natural order of things.
deb scratching her head....Dom Irrera?....who he?
I know from comedians; I know that name, but I don't know him. I large gap in my cultural cred.
Okay...
