Shamima Begum who fled UK to join Isis (and now wants to come back) has given birth, says family

"Shamima Begum, 19, who left the UK with two school friends in 2015, spoke to the Times earlier this week from the al-Hawl refugee camp in north-eastern Syria."

Tasnime Akunjee (the family lawyer) said the family had been told Begum gave birth on Saturday to a boy and that mother and son were doing well.

He said the news of the birth had changed the dynamics of the situation and added pressure on the government to let Begum, and now her child, back.

Her family have called on the British government to allow her to return to the UK so her child can be cared for in “peace and security”. But the home secretary, Sajid Javid, said he would not hesitate to block her return.

“My message is clear: if you have supported terrorist organisations abroad I will not hesitate to prevent your return,” he said. “If you do manage to return you should be ready to be questioned, investigated and potentially prosecuted.”

Writing in the Sunday Times, Javid said: “As a father I feel compassion for anyone born or brought into a conflict zone. But in considering what actions need to be taken now, I have to think about the safety and security of children living in our country.”

In a statement issued on Friday, the family said her apparent lack of regret for joining Isis should be seen as the “words of a girl who was groomed at the age of 15”.

Via Instapundit:  Kari Bird just started law school and continues to work full time. Bird got home at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday and when she got out of her car, a group of three or four young guys approached her.

“I really didn’t think too much about it, one of (them) was smiling,” Bird said.

He was smiling, but he quickly pulled out a gun.

“He told me to … give him my keys,” Bird said.

She did turn over her keys, but realizing all her law books and belongings were in the car, Bird made a quick decision. With the gun still pointed at her, she reached into her center console to pull out her own gun.

“(He said), ‘Oh s***’ and then ran,” Bird told Fox 59.

Bird said the boys looked like teenagers and as a mom, she can’t get that out of her head.

“If these were my kids and they were out at 11:30 at night, terrorizing women, I would scare the life out of them,” Bird said.

The 15-year-old girl had only been a student at South Fort Myers High School in Fort Myers, Fla., for two weeks when she went looking for her new crush in the boys’ bathroom.

She’d spent the prior two years in and out of treatment facilities, her mother told NBC2, learning to cope with the horrors of the sex slave industry into which she had been trafficked at age 13.

So when she tracked down her crush after school last week and he asked her for sex, her mother said through a victims’ advocate, the young teen agreed.

But then word got out, and someone started filming, and over the next hour as many as 25 male students were shown on school surveillance footage passing through the bathroom, the News-Press reported. Multiple boys had sex with the girl, she later told authorities, during a time period after school when students involved in extracurricular activities participate in a study hall. Sixteen students were disciplined by the Lee County school district, the newspaper reported.

Though the sex was described as consensual, according to the involved parties, the girl was not legally old enough to give consent. And because of her troubled background, the teen’s mother and advocates have said this behavior, called promiscuous by many outraged community members, is actually quite common among sex-trafficking survivors.

Strapped with a booby-trapped vest and sent by the extremist Boko Haram group to kill as many people as possible, a young teenage girl tore off the explosives and fled as soon as she was out of sight of her handlers.

Her two companions, however, completed their grisly mission earlier this week and walked into a crowd of hundreds at Dikwa refugee camp in northeast Nigeria and blew themselves up, killing 58 people.

Later found by local self-defence forces, the girl's tearful account is one of the first indications that at least some of the child bombers used by Boko Haram are aware that they are about to die and kill others.

"She said she was scared because she knew she would kill people. But she was also frightened of going against the instructions of the men who brought her to the camp," said Modu Awami, a self-defence fighter who helped question the girl.

Sounds pervy. I saw the hashtag following the definition of "vamping" the term came from a remark "If Obama spends his time vamping on Twitter..."  It turns out to be a thing teenagers do at night in bed online, it's their "me" time. This NYT Fashion and Style article explained it amusingly,

“Sometimes I look up and it’s 3 a.m. and I’m watching a video of a giraffe eating a steak,” 

That's funny right there. I suddenly wanted to see a giraffe eating a steak. I love these kids. They're not horrible at all. The hashtag shows all lightness and love and teenage angst and things like this video of a performer in Paris before her show riding around our adult impulse is "staged!" but the kids accept it for spontaneous encounter because this is how they would behave.
