Merkel: ‘Especially hard to bear’ if Berlin attacker an asylum seeker

BERLIN, Dec. 20 (UPI) — German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Tuesday said a truck crash in Berlin which killed 12 people is being treated by police as a terrorist attack.

“Our investigators are working on the assumption that the truck was steered deliberately into the crowd,” German police said.

A stolen tractor trailer loaded with steel beams drove through a festive Christmas market on Monday. At least 48 people were injured, 18 of them seriously.

A person familiar with the investigation said police apprehended the alleged driver, who is from Pakistan. It is not known if the man entered Germany as a refugee, The Wall Street Journal reported.

“I know it would be especially hard to bear for all of us if it should be confirmed that the person who committed this act sought protection and asylum in Germany. This would be especially despicable toward the many, many Germans who are daily engaged in helping refugees, and toward the many, many people who truly need this protection and strive to integrate themselves into our country,” Merkel said in a press conference.

According to NBC News, the attacker was a Somali refugee who came to the United States in 2014 as a legal permanent resident."

Speaking to Polish television, a former member of Poland’s counter-terror police and an academic expert on information warfare and terrorism have articulated their concern about the intellectual and spiritual collapse of European civilization, remarking it is “at the end of its existence”.

Former Central Bureau of Investigation (CBS) officer Jacek Wrona and military history academic Dr. Rafał Brzeski were guests on the Polish TVP Info programme discussing the Munich shooting in which nine were killed, and were forced to conclude it was a symptom of the end of European Civilisation. Information warfare expert Dr. Brzeski rejected the suggestion in German media that the Munich killer — an 18 year old Muslim — was mad, pointing out the killing had “an element of planning”, reports wPolityce.

Observations from a photograph

Even if this photo is making it around the world, only 1% of the people will notice the truth.

In the photo, there are 7 men and 1 woman. Up to this point – nothing special.

But in observing a bit closer, you will notice that the woman is bare footed, accompanied by 3 children, and of the 3, she is carrying 2.

There is the problem, none of the men are helping her, because in their culture the woman represents nothing. She is only good to be a slave to the men.

Do you really believe that these particular individuals could integrate into our societies and countries and respect our customs and traditions?

BBC: He recognised that some people had concerns about the pressure that new arrivals put on communities and services. The archbishop said: "There is a tendency to say 'those people are racist', which is just outrageous, absolutely outrageous.

"Fear is a valid emotion at a time of such colossal crisis.  "This is one of the greatest movements of people in human history. Just enormous. And to be anxious about that is very reasonable."

He said it was "really important" that fears were listened to, and resources put in place to address them. Archbishop Welby also described fear about what would happen if the UK left the EU or remained as a "valid emotion".

He adds: "I don't think there is one correct Christian view, one way or the other. You can't say 'God says you must vote this way or that way'."
