WKRLEM TV: This seems very familiar.....

I am a big Martin Clunes fan. You might know his most popular series '"Doc Martin." When I find an actor I like I investigate his filmography on IMBD and see what else he might have done. Lo and behold I found this excellent little series "William and Mary."

Let's see. The plot is this big fat cheerful dofus goes online meets a beautiful buxom brunette who bosses him around and he is delirious happy as she yells at him and his bumbling ways.

I don't know it just seems very familiar.

WKRLEM TV It's not the freaking history channel

For the last few nights we have been enjoying a stupid little show on HULU called "The Great."

It is a comedic retelling of the story of Catherine the Great. It is pretty amusing and a perfect trifle for these quarantine times.

One warning though. Being super woke they have black actors interspersed into the show as if they were not black. You just have to pretend that there would be brothers in Russia in 1762. It does get really jarring when they have a big black buck playing the Ambassador of Sweden. I mean they had lot of black guys back then.

Still and all it is stupid and silly and amusing.

Recommended.

WKRLEM TV: World on Fire

I have been struggling to find stuff to watch as we are locked down these many months. Just recently I have come across this BBC production that is being presented by Masterpiece Theater.  It's called "World on Fire" and it is a pretentious soap opera that traces the beginning of World War Two. It is very well done and the production values seem top notch.

Now this is supposed to be highbrow but it has the typical soap opera touches that they would scoff at but still use to keep an audience. One of my favorite actors Sean Bean plays a great role where he has to hide his natural authority and play down his personality. He does a masterful job. Believe it or not Helen Hunt is pretty good too. Of course she plays a gold plated bitch so it was type  casting.

They had to throw in a gratuitous gay subplot but hey that's entertainment these days. Still and all it seems quite entertaining.

Highly recommended.

Notice they hit some of my favorite themes. Filthy Mexicans. Eli Wallach in the Magnificent Seven. It's all there as if I wrote it today.

WKRLEM: Tony needs to do something about Mini Mike

President Trump has announced that he is commuting the sentence of Rod Blagojevich a former contestant on Celebrity Apprentice. Oh yeah and he was a governor or something.

The President also pardoned former NYC Police Commissioner Bernard Kerick, Eddie Debartolo the former owner of the 49er's and Michael Milken the stock fraud guy from the 1980's. All three pardons are making the liberals and the media (redundant) shit their pants. These pardons were all made for different reasons,

Milken and DeBartolo had done their sentences and paid their dues. As had Kerick. The President has commuted the sentences on non violent offenders like Alice Johnson so what if he does it for a couple of rich white guys and a cop. It's ok to be white.

Blago is a whole different kettle of fish. The media is losing it because he had written a Pro Trump editorial a while back. Plus the fact that he was a contestant on the Celebrity Apprentice where he was one of the most impressive lickspittles I have ever seen. Now the contestants all kissed Mr. Trumps ass but he really excelled at it. I think the President just likes the guy. He had threatened to pardon him before but was talked out of it by the pussies and Never Trumpers at the Justice Department. After seeing how Trump friends and loyalists like  Roger Stone and General Flynn are getting hammered and criminals like Andrew McCabe and other leakers and liars are walking. The God Emperor has had enough. The Deep State, the FBI and the CIA take care of their own. The President needs to use his power to take care of his own just the same. The Deep State and the media wants to destroy and bankrupt anyone who supports the President. He needs to pardon all of them as soon as possible. Manafort. Flynn, Stone. All of them. Put the case to the American people that they are targeting these people while others who do the same thing walk away laughing at the rubes in flyover country. Fuck that noise. Just one thing.

Don't pardon Sinbad. There is no excuse for those parachute pants.

9-1-1: Lone Star : The wokest show ever on national tv

They had two explicit sex scenes in the last episode. Both of them homosexual.

The only marriage is interracial.

This is what they are shoving down your throat in 2020.

Luckily it is so bad it will be cancelled after one season.

WKRLEM TV EL Ministerio del Tiempo

One of the best things about Netflixs is that they have TV series from other countries. I know that most of you have seen some British shows since they are often on PBS. But you seldom get to see stuff from France or Germany or Sweden. Lately I have been watching some of them with English subtitles. I saw a pretty decent cop show from Denmark and an interesting show about a terrible fire in 1880 in France. Currently I am really enjoying a Spanish show called "El Ministerio del Tiempo" or the Ministry of Time.

It is a basic time travel story. A secret division of the Spanish government has a means to go back in time to make sure that no one tries to change history. It is basically a series of doors. Simplicity is best. There is no big tech or spaceships or crap like that. Just a door that you walk through, So one minute it's 2019 and then it is 1492. They set up a team of three who back in time. A hidalgo soldier from Flanders. A modern day paramedic.. A female college student from 1885. What is most interesting to me is that they are dealing with Spanish history. Spanish art and literature. Stuff that I am vaguely familiar with so when the wife turns to me to ask what it is about and I have to think about it for a minute. Usually when she turns to me for an explanation I have the knowledge at my fingertips. Spanish history not so much. So it is very intriguing to me.

In the first episode they go back to the Napoleonic era and the next they visit a famous Spanish author, Each week they visit a different era. Franco's Spain in WW2. Queen Isabella in 1492. The Spanish American War. Interesting stuff. At least to me.

The other amusing thing is that the producers of this show sued the producers of the American TV show "Timeless" for ripping off their concept. In "Timeless" three characters go back in time to make sure that the timeline doesn't change. A soldier. A professor. A pilot. They changed it slightly but it is still a rip off.

Anyway if you can stand subtitles I recommend it highly. If you are a history buff like me.

It's what I want to do in retirement. Own a jazz club. Wear sharkskin suits with a skinny tie and solve crimes.

But that ain't gonna happen.

WKRLEM: What Trump has to do..

This is based on the famous hit on Larry Gallo by Carmine the Snake and couple of other mooks in the Profaci crew that started the first Gallo war.

Puzo lifted a bunch of historical occurrences to flesh out the Godfather movies. He was well versed in the history of the Mob so he was able to right a great story by fictionalizing the truth.

President Trump needs to take a page out of the Snakes play book. Invite the press over. Then slip the garrote over the neck and choke them out. It's the only way.
