John D MacDonald was way ahead of his time

It is especially chilling when a work of fiction predicts real live happenings It happened for me when Tom Clancy predicted a suicide bomber flying a plane into the US Capital in one of his Jack Ryan books. Long before 911 Clancy laid it out and the Muslim mutts just followed his ten plate. When the planes hit the towers I had an eerie sense of deja vu.

The same thing happened with the recent condo collapse in Miami. One of my favorite authors of the seventies was John D. MacDonald. I always ran out and got every one of his Travis McGee novels as soon as it came out. He is one of my heroes and models in writing crime fiction and I have read just about everything he has ever written as I have done with Elmore Leonard, Robert B. Parker and Lawrence Block. One of his non McGee books also became a best seller. It was called "Condominium" and was about the collapse of a condo in Florida. Albeit it was during a hurricane, still the shoddy workmanship and the criminal malfeasance seems to have predicted what happened in Miami. I remember when it came out and all of the builders in Florida swore up and down that they complied with all the codes and what not. There was a minor scandal here and there but it all went back to normal. I wonder if they examine the structure and what went on if they will find what I think they will find.

Once again life follows art.

KLEM FM

The left have wasted no time in recording their first anti-Trump screeds. See Fiona Apple's "hate song" to Donald Trump. Last time around, with Reagan, it took a bit longer -- a year or two in fact. Remember Gil Scott-Heron's "B-Movie" (1981) which mentioned Reagan as Ronald Ray-Gun?

Scott-Heron's lyrics are an interesting 35 year-old time capsule. Approached with an open mind, there are a few good one liners:
Nostalgia, that's what we want…: the good ol' days, when we gave' em hell. When the buck stopped somewhere and you could still buy something with it. To a time when movies were in black and white, and so was everything else.
Full lyrics after the break.

The Left have conceived their anti-Trump babies. Now we're in gestation phase. Watch out for future little monstrosities.

"'Groundhog Day' student trapped in bizarre déjà vu time loop for 8 years"

"The 23-year-old even stopped watching TV, listening to the radio, or reading newspapers or magazines because he believed he had seen it all before."
He told doctors that he was "trapped in a time loop" and said he felt as if he was reliving the past moment by moment.

"Rather than simply the unsettling feelings of familiarity which are normally associated with déjà vu, our subject complained that it felt like he was actually retrieving previous experiences from memory, not just finding them familiar," said Dr Wells.

"If proved, this could be the first-ever recorded instance of psychogenic déjà vu, which is déjà vu triggered by anxiety rather than a neurological condition such as dementia or epilepsy.

"In relation to our case, distress caused by the déjà vu experience may itself lead to increased levels of déjà vu: similar feedback loops in positive symptoms are reported in other anxiety states e.g. panic attacks.

"It is plausible on neurobiological grounds that anxiety might lead to the generation of déjà vu."

"State Dept. whistleblower has email hacked, deleted"

The personal e-mail account of a State Department whistleblower was hacked, and four years worth of messages — some detailing alleged wrongdoing at the agency — were deleted, The Post has learned.
The computer attack targeted the Gmail account of Diplomatic Security Service criminal investigator Richard Higbie, his lawyer, Cary Schulman, confirmed.

Higbie has asked the FBI in Dallas, where he lives, to investigate the hacking, which occurred this month.

Higbie played a key role in helping fellow whistleblower Aurelia Fedenisn, a former investigator for the department’s inspector general, reveal in June a pattern of alleged coverups by top department officials.

The alleged coverups included keeping quiet separate IG investigations that found that members of then-Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton’s security detail had engaged hookers and that the Belgian ambassador had solicited underage prostitutes.

These were among a string of investigations by the service, responsible for protecting dignitaries and investigating crimes within the department, that were allegedly derailed by senior officials, including one instance of interference by Clinton Chief of Staff Cheryl Mills.
Astute observers connect the timing of the NYT Benghazi article to the possibility that something else, more sinister, is being kept under wraps. In other words, it's a "wag the dog" maneuver, made notorious by Hillary's husband Bill Clinton, back when he was president. "It's like deja vu all over again." Back to Higbie...
