The Washington Post has retracted the cartoon with this statement posted at the original link:

 Editor’s note from Fred Hiatt: It’s generally been the policy of our editorial section to leave children out of it. I failed to look at this cartoon before it was

published. I understand why Ann thought an exception to the policy was warranted in this case, but I do not agree.

Kevin Vickers, the sergeant at arms who shot the religio-psycho received a standing ovation by Canadian Parliament. It's quite moving.

Bruce MacKinnon, editorial cartoonist for Halifax Chronicle-Harald (who still cannot believe he is paid to draw) has created an image that breaks peoples' hearts and not just in Canada either.

I think, everybody thought this same thing. That's why it resonates so profoundly. Bruce drew what we all thought at the moment; now Cpl. Cirillo has become what he guarded. Reading through tweets I see others read this cartoon differently.

Cartoonist set up in the Facebookiverse had me cracking up laughing. He has a set of animal characters that like to party and he has a bizarrely uncomfortable fixation of on the crucifixion and breakfast cereals, also strange sexual wanderings into animal pairings. The praying mantis killed me.
