Kimberley Strassel: The “Mindset” of the “Coup” is more alarming than Partisanship…

Ein kleines bisschen Horrorschau...
Chip mentioned A Clockwork Orange and I mentioned Nadsat - the language used by the teens. Two Nadsat words appear in die Toten Hosen's song Hier Kommt Alex: Horrorshow and droogs. Burgess chose them for ironic effect.

Der Trick Ist Verloren
Overheard at Althouse and updated for urgency:
I'm not referring to civics lessons but rather, to how polls of EC members are cited in the press.
Hillary's only trick is to appear inevitable. That doesn't draw voters to the polls, but it attracts donors and discourages the other guy's donors. Her message during the primaries was not a counter to Sanders message, it was "I have already won." Breaking that idea is how Obama won against her in 2008. The only way Trump can win is to break the idea that Hillary is inevitable. He hasCan someone please explain how Electoral College voters are polled?fourteenthree weeks. link

"Homeland eyes special declaration to take charge of elections"
WE: Even before the FBI identified new cyber attacks on two separate state election boards, the Department of Homeland Security began considering declaring the election a "critical infrastructure," giving it the same control over security it has over Wall Street and and the electric power grid.
The latest admissions of attacks could speed up that effort possibly including the upcoming presidential election, according to officials.
"We should carefully consider whether our election system, our election process, is critical infrastructure like the financial sector, like the power grid," Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said.

"We should carefully consider whether our election system, our election process, is critical infrastructure like the financial sector, like the power grid," Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said.
"There's a vital national interest in our election process, so I do think we need to consider whether it should be considered by my department and others critical infrastructure," he said at media conference earlier this month hosted by the Christian Science Monitor.

Exactly the sort of behavior that will cost Hillary votes. I'm not saying she causes it, but she supports it.

The Most Hated Candidate For President Usually Wins... and Other Data Points
Via Instapundit: Since 1984, the candidate with the higher strong unfavorable rating has won. Ronald Reagan was more strongly disliked than Walter Mondale; George H. W. Bush was more strongly disliked than Michael Dukakis; Bill Clinton was more strongly disliked than Bob Dole; George W. Bush was more strongly disliked than John Kerry; Barack Obama was more strongly disliked than John McCain and Mitt Romney.
There have only been two occasions where the more disliked person lost: In 1992 and 2000. George H. W. Bush had higher strong unfavorable ratings but lost to Bill Clinton and Al Gore had higher strong unfavorable than George W. Bush but lost.1290 WJNO: In the advent of the polling age (1930's), there hasn't been a full-term President succeeded by a President in their party without an approval rating of at least 54% . Also in the advent of the polling age, there hasn't been a full-term President that has been succeeded by a President in their own party unless at least half of voters viewed the country as being on the right track.

Even a moron comes up with good stuff every so often!
The Powerline blog has gotten ridiculous. It was once one of the blogs I would read everyday. Lem even has it on his sidebar. However the two mooks who write are so off the rails about Trump that I can't anymore.
Their latest idiocy is that Trump is just going to quit. That he never wanted to win and that he is going to quit before the convention so the Rhinos can name someone they want like Paul Ryan or Romney. Right. That makes a whole lot of sense. Now that post was by a guest contributor but it does reflect their sensibility. Or lack of sense as it were.

Nate Silver Electoral Map as of today
Meanwhile...Here's what the map might look like in an election held today. Trump's Rust Belt strength would help him keep MO, IN pic.twitter.com/OYueYvWFpG— Nate Silver (@NateSilver538) March 24, 2016
Republicans have cast 19.8 million votes at primary and caucus elections this year, and Democrats have cast 14.8 million. But there’s a third force that has once again dwarfed both of these numbers: the great American tradition of disinterest and apathy.
In the states that have held elections so far, about 106 million eligible voters have opted out of the whole thing. Only about a quarter of the voting-age population, or 40% of registered voters, have turned up to the polls. This is true even though Republicans have turned out in record numbers this year.

Conservatives Most Unwanted List
It appears that some of the more hysterical members of the conservative punditocracy and intelligentsia have decided to pursue a pogrom against those media personalities that do not toe the line and repudiate Donald Trump and the people that support him.
In a post at Breitbart.com it is described this way:
"Conservative movement professionals in Washington, D.C. are plotting to form a “blacklist” of Donald Trump supporters that they can kick out of the movement, never to return.
Several conservative talking heads and Beltway consultant types have been very angry about the rise of businessman Trump, who is pushing for American sovereignty, a reversal of neoconservative foreign policy, and competitive bidding for pharmaceuticals even though the drug companies that fund the Republican Party would take a financial hit. So far, anti-Trump think pieces referencing William F. Buckley have been ineffective. Memes comparing Trump to Hitler haven’t worked. So these Republicans are getting more Nixon-y. They’re coming out with an Enemies List."

The Ballad of Frank Crosetti
Do you know who Frank Crosetti was? He was the ultimate “True
Yankee.”
He was the starting Yankee shortstop from 1932 until Phil Rizzuto
came up in 1941. When Phil went into the army he got the job back until the war
was over and then became a bench player. More importantly he became a Yankee
coach being the third base coach for many, many years. They said he waved move
than 10,000 runner’s home during his tenure at third base.
Most importantly he was the guardian of the Yankee tradition.
He had seen how it was done since the days of Ruth and Gehrig through DiMaggio
up to Mantle and the dog days after the 1964 collapse. He was the guy who said “Yankees
don’t do that.” Smart alecks like Jim Bouton and Joe Pepitone hated him and
mocked him to his face. He had very few friends. He was rigid and unlikable. He
insisted on a pure inviolable code of conduct that you could not broach. You did
it the “Yankee” way or you were a piece of crap.

Nimrata Nikki Randhawa Haley endorses Rent Boy Rubio! Now it is a party!
Governor Nimrata Nikki Randhawa Haley of South Carolina has announced that she is endorsing Rent Boy Marco Rubio. In fact she said she would support anyone except Donald Trump.
Governor Haley is of course famous for surrendering to political correctness by banning the Confederate Flag and using the State of the Union response to attack the leading Republican candidate for President instead of concentrating on opposing President Obama's agenda. Because the Confederate Flag and statues of Civil war generals are the real problem. Governor Haley hates Trump because she is in favor of uninhibited immigration and the transfer of jobs of Americans to immigrants who are either illegal or under bogus visas. She knows that the Rent Boy will open the floodgates even more than Obama as he was the principal Republican stooge in the Gang of Eight.

Jeb's not dead, baby, Jeb's not dead
Excerpt:
"If you want someone with a servant’s heart, someone who solves problems, someone focused on applying our conservative principles consistently, then you’re looking at the next president of the United States, with your help.”
-Jeb Bush
https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/jeb-bush-is-not-dead/2016/02/10/0446d214-d03f-11e5-b2bc-988409ee911b_story.html
-------------------------------
My take:
Firstly, 'firstly' is proper usage.
Secondly, I want to give Jeb a hug.
Thirdly, like Trumpians view Trump, I perceive authenticity in Jeb.
Fourthly, I think Jeb will have learned from his brother's mistake of invading a country based on false intel. That is, he won't be bamboozled by his advisors.

Bill Clinton stumps for Hillary to low turnout crowd
![]() |
| picture above okay'd by Salon editor Joan Walsh for 2012 Sarah Palin article |
Excerpt from today's NYT:
"But Mr. Clinton’s most pointed remarks may have been when he took aim at Sanders supporters who, he said, use misogynistic language in attacking Mrs. Clinton. He told the story of a female “progressive” blogger who defended Mrs. Clinton online through a pseudonym because, he said, the vitriol from Mr. Sanders’s backers was so unrelenting.
“She and other people who have gone online to defend Hillary, to explain why they supported her, have been subject to vicious trolling and attacks that are literally too profane often, not to mention sexist, to repeat.” Mr. Clinton, growing more demonstrative, added that the liberal journalist Joan Walsh had faced what he called “unbelievable personal attacks” for writing positively about Mrs. Clinton [my emphasis].
...The appearance by Mr. Clinton, absent the entourage and crowds that usually surround the former president, was striking and somewhat poignant, and it felt far apart from the frenzied final campaigning happening around the state on Sunday. The junior high school’s small gym was not full, and only a handful of reporters showed up, at a time when campaign events are being flooded with dozens of national and international journalists."

"...Democratic Party eating itself like a snake that loves science and Planned Parenthood"
"For many of us, it's not simply politics as usual. It's very personal.
For me, the backlash against Hillary Clinton feels very, very personal.
Can you imagine how absolutely infuriating it must be for Hillary to have to work so hard to be likable, but strong? Hip, but above the need to be seen as cool? For everything she says to be perfect because she'd be crucified otherwise, meanwhile Bernie Sanders could say pretty much anything he wants and it would be seen as the goddamn revolution? I'm so infuriated on her behalf. Because what you like about Bernie, what they like about Trump, she doesn't get to do that. She doesn't get to be all wild hair and yelling. Do I wish different? Of course. And the first female president would go a long way toward making that difference possible."

Uh-oh Spaghettios
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration confirmed for the first time Friday that Hillary Clinton's home server contained closely guarded government secrets, censoring 22 emails that contained material requiring one of the highest levels of classification. The revelation comes three days before Clinton competes in the Iowa presidential caucuses.
[Some emails included] highly restricted, classified material that could point to confidential sources or clandestine programs like drone strikes.
