There was this toy that was just two balls with a sulfur coating or something, and you would clack them together in one hand to make a crazy loud noise and some sulfur smoke would pop off from it.

"Men, what's something that would surprise women about life as a man?"

Reddit best answers...
I remember my wife asked me years ago, "Hey, get any compliments on your bald head?" It was a drastic change, shaved head. She thought it fit my style. At the time, I only worked with guys. She looked amazed and shocked when I laughingly replied, "Are you serious? Doubt anyone noticed." She thought I was heartbroken but in reality I would have been surprised if anyone did compliment.

Contrary to popular belief, we adult men talk about sex like 5% of the time. We, too, have hobbies and dreams.

That most of us don't have the type of friend system where you just go to someone and emotionally vent about your problems. Any problem you have must be solved in silence. Even today men who never ever complain are praised like they are super human.

Playing hard to get ? No, we're not gonna pursue you. We're just going to think you're uninterested and we will move on.

My girlfriend and I watched Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel last night. In the beginning, two of the main characters are working at a theme park, handing out coupons to the Dinoburger restaurant at the park, whilst dressed as dinosaurs. The two get in an argument about how it doesn't make any sense that they are dressed as dinosaurs claiming they should really be dressed as cavemen.
My girlfriend had a hard time grasping that this was a pretty acurate portrail of how conversations in groups of guys usually go. A semantic debate about things that are both simple and completely insignificant. We'll debate about things that have nothing to do with our lives and leave the conversation having gained essentially nothing.
I also explained that these debates don't end when the one individual conversation is over. Next time we're together, we'll pick it up right where we left off. Over the course of about three months my friends and I went through a quite serious debate over the character of Tom Bombadil and his weight and impact on the world of Lord of the Rings. Actually most of our conversations come back to lord of the rings. But she just couldn't understand how that would in any way be entertaining. Truth be told, we don't stop to think if it would be entertaining, it just happens and everyone participates.

Sponsor of the law to repeal Michigan’s mandatory helmet law was killed Monday night in a motorcycle crash

Michigan RadioMichigan State Police report that State Representative Peter Pettalia was wearing a helmet when he died.

Pettalia was riding a motorcycle on M-33 in northern Michigan’s Montmorency County.

Pettalia was the sponsor of the 2012 law that repealed the helmet requirement for motorcyclists. A recent study found motorcycle fatalities in Michigan jumped by 23 % between 2014 and 2015 and researchers say the repeal of the helmet law almost certainly played a role.

Pettalia chaired the state House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. He was serving his third and final state House term, and briefly considered a run for Congress earlier this year. Pettalia was 61 years old.

"Nurses who has to ask the famous "Sexual history?" question, what was the best answer you got?"

Reddit best answers...
an older lady. Maybe early 70's. There were 5-10 sexual history questions in a row. In the middle of them she blurts out, "honey, I've been dried up for years. Nobody has been diggin in this for a long time."

A 65 year old man came in with an abundance of genital warts and said "I kept sleeping with that same dirty woman. That's why I got these things"

I got a laugh out of hearing a young girl tell me she's not currently sexually active, because the last time she had sex was the day before

Paramedic here. I once asked a 20 year old female with abdominal pain:
ME:"Are you sexually active?"
HER: "Yes"
ME: "Any chance you're pregnant?"
HER: "Absolutely not, I could never be pregnancy"
ME: "Not all birth control is 100% effective."
HER: Mine is.
ME: "What kind of birth control is it?"
HER: "um...lesbianism."

Not a nurse but the best response I've heard to this question was from a quiet guy in my freshman college English class. Somehow our discussion on vaccines led to this topic and he told a story about his doctor asking if he was sexually active. His perfect response was "Bro I'm not even socially active"

What is your golden rule?

Reddit Top comments....
mine is, under-promise, over-deliver.

The customer is not always right. But they are always the customer.

If you're gonna break the rules, only break one rule at a time.

You can't give what you don't have. Improve/help/love yourself properly, because only by doing so (or at least trying to) will you truly gain the potential to affect others and make the world a better place.

At least think about the arguments the side you are opposing has.

To never make fun of or criticize someone's job. If they are working hard to provide for themselves and their family, then that is something that should be admired and respected no matter how unglamorous the job may be.

Be a leader, not a boss.
I'm reminded of a Synova post:  "I could have been her friendly acquaintance but she wouldn't allow it. She didn't have any of those."

What do you consider genuinely cool?

Reddit best comments...
People who do things without needing the approval of anyone else. Independence is a really good trait to have.
A quick wit, not just the obvious jokes.
Witnessing someone understand something after trying really hard to practice and learn.
I am an ESL teacher and it is so awesome seeing the excitement on my students' faces when things start clicking for them. You can see it all click and then they get overwhelmed with excitement that they start making errors again. The other kids will applaud and it is just a fantastic time.
I've got to remain cool, but I'll be damned if it doesn't make me choke up when I see someone learning.
People who have a genuine passion for something,
That is the coolest shit of all
People who can laugh at themselves
Would have to be space. Its like the more we know the less we understand.

What did you learn too late in life?

Reddit top answers...
To say no to things I don't want to do.

That other people don't care what you think. They're more worried about themselves, and you aren't the first thing on their priority list.

Could've saved so many headaches if I knew this years ago.

To save money. Now I'm always broke and I never have enough money for a back up plan.

Whats a big industry secret that isn't supposed to be known by the general public?

I work at a hospital in an area where there are lots of hospitals. Our ER has an emt lounge with free slushies soda and snack food so the EMT'S

customer service text chat can see what you're typing in the box before you hit send.

Relative of mine was a mystery shopper and did a lot of car garages. He would get sent in with a car and had to get it serviced and reported on how well it was completed/if they found all the faults/ if the customer service was up to scratch etc. The results were usually 6/10, until suddenly every garage was a 10/10 continuously. He investigated as it was a bit suspicious and found "MYS" (Mystery Shopper) written on the bottom of the car he was given. One of the garages sussed him out and wrote it there for future garages to find, and make sure they have it the best possible service.

I attended a songwriting workshop at berklee school of music, and Anna Wise (Grammy winning songwriter, Kendrick Lamar collaborator) told the audience during a presentation that whenever someone "magically" blows up on soundcloud or YouTube, that it's not authentic. A label will sign the artist in secret, and then suddenly boost their viewership tremendously to make it look like the independent artist did it on their own.

What asshole fact do you know that will ruin the fun for everyone?

Reddit best comments....
Worked in a liquor store. The same 25 or so people would come in every day and buy a pint of fifth of vodka. Every day. I would point out to them it is much cheaper over the long run just to buy a gallon. They would mostly shrug and buy their pint or fifth.
I realized later they were high-functional alcoholics who, knowing they would drink every drop available, just bought what they could consume daily and remain semi functional.
Spiders molt. When you see a dead spider, there's a good chance that it isn't actually a dead spider, it's just an exoskeleton. The spider is still alive, and it's bigger than before.
If you ever play Monopoly, and are playing by the "official" rules don't upgrade to hotels. There are a finite number of housing properties available. Get a group ASAP, fill it up with 4 houses ASAP and let it sit. Continue to buy property, fill em with houses. NEVER upgrade them to hotels, and you will win the game, as the other players will have no source of income compared to you.

What's the weirdest thing about your body?

Reddit best comments....
I have one attached and one unattached earlobe.
On the left side of my head, above my ear, I've developed a random bald spot slightly larger than the diameter of a quarter. Coincidentally, right below my right shoulder, I have a thick patch of back hair about the same size (my back is otherwise hairless). It's like a whole community of hair just said "fuck it" and moved to my body's equivalent of Florida.
My immune system thinks I'm allergic to the progesterone I naturally release.
I have a perfectly smooth mushroom shaped, skin colored mole on the side of my head and I've had it since birth. My mom says it looks like a penis, you know, nice stuff that moms say.
Brains are part of the body, right? I have Prosopagnosia (face blindness), which means that I do not recognise or remember faces. I can look at someone, turn around, turn back, and I won't recognise their face. I don't recognise my coworkers, friends, or family by face. I have a lot of funny stories related to this...
I have a congenital blood disorder called Haemochromatosis. This means that my body absorbs far too much Iron from my diet and since it can't be expelled easily, my body stores the excess Iron wherever it can and the build up of it can cause nasty complications if not treated.
I also have Anaemia. Which is very strange as I have all this Iron in my body but yet it isn't being absorbed into my blood stream. Even Specialists at the BMA (British Medical Association) are scratching their heads about this and frequently ask for samples to research.
