The Playoffs are starting and nobody gives a shit

The NBA playoffs are starting to the immense disinterest of most of the fans in America. After their descent into hating America and celebrating Black Lives Matter the NBA has lost more than half of it's viewership. From being apologists for China's slave trade to calling for cops to be murdered like Lebron did they have lost a huge portion of their former fans.

As you might know I used to be a big basketball fan. I bought season tickets to the Knicks when Patrick Ewing was drafted by the Knicks. I spent many years going to two to four games a week. It was a lot of money and a lot of commitment. Now I wouldn't go if you paid me. Like football and now even baseball they have lost me forever. I just hope that they lose their TV deals and take a financial hit. I don't know if that will happen since the TV executives are as woke as anyone but can they justify it to their shareholders?

Contest

The former Redskins say they will be known as the Washington Football Team for 2020.

So are they the Washington Nothings?

This is like the New Coke. There has to be something better to call them.

And, if the "name" sticks (they're either the Redskins next year or no franchise), does the rest of pro sports follow suit?

What does Chiraq, with 2 baseball teams do?

"Thank God someone's finally starting to talk about the important issues"

"DNC Chair Believes Transgender Women Should Be Allowed To Compete In Female Contact Sports"
In an interview after CNN’s GOP debate, the DNC chair told the Daily Caller that transgender women should be able to compete in contact sports. Because that’s totally what we should be worrying about right now.
“I think that transgendered women — I think women should be able to participate in contact sports if they can compete effectively," Wasserman-Schultz said...
“I think that if they are living as a woman and identifying as a woman that they should be able to play on a women’s team,” she added. “But also I think that there are women who should be able to play on a men’s teams if they can effectively compete and vice versa.” (read more)

The Michael Sam Show!

In the week following his draft by the St. Louis Rams, the Oprah Winfrey Network announced that they would film a documentary series about Sam, chronicling his efforts to make the team. link

And people thought Sarah Palin was a "drama queen" for starting a reality TV show.

NYT: "Do Curlers Make Good Housekeepers?"

"Every job invites its share of inane, clichéd questions, and being an Olympic athlete, at least in this respect, is like any other job."
And so it is that Aidan Kelly, an American luger, is often asked “if I feel ridiculous wearing a full spandex suit all the time.”

The sliding sports — luge, bobsled and skeleton — are particularly prone to misapprehension, particularly among casual observers who look at them and think of glorified sledding.

“What is the stupidest question?” said the American bobsledder Dallas Robinson, the brakeman on a two-man team. “The problem is that when I say ‘stupidest question,’ I’ve probably asked all those same questions, so I’m admitting to my ignorance of the sport prior to becoming an athlete of the sport.”

“A lot of people think the brakeman brakes throughout the track to help control the speeds,” he said.

“That is not the case. That is not the case at all. No, my head’s down between my legs and I’m praying the whole time. When the track’s over with, I pull with the brakes, and that’s it.”

Curlers, of course, get the most generally clueless questions, starting with, “Are you the sweeper or the thrower?” (Answer: They do both.)

Another question: “Do you clean the ice?” said Johnny Frederiksen, vice skip of the Danish team.

Hello Sports Fans!

To get you in the mood, let me introduce this humorous video with a play-by-play of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony, courtesy of our very own rhhardin:

I showed you that by way of introduction to those who haven't yet discovered the Sklarbro Country podcast series. The Sklar brothers first came to my notice when my son watched their ESPN show, Cheap Seats, which began in 2004. Here is just a portion of their performance history:
The Sklar brothers have also appeared in television shows such as Law & Order, Becker,Providence, The Oblongs (as conjoined twin brothers Biff and Chip Oblong), Entourage, Grey's Anatomy (as conjoined twin brothers Peter and Jake Weitzman), Curb Your Enthusiasm (Jason only), and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (as dance marathon DJs on the episode "The Gang Dances Their Asses Off"). The Sklars have appeared in the films My Baby's Daddy, Bubble Boy, Wild Hogs andThe Comeback.
Once, on a long car trip my son and I listened to several podcasts on the way to our destination. On the way back, he asked if I'd like to listen to some more. I declined, but when he said, 'I haven't listened to them yet because I thought we could listen to them together,' well, who could resist an invitation like that?

The 157 weekly podcasts are sectioned into an opening section of banter between the brothers, followed by chats with their two guests, consecutively, and finally, a well done spoof interview, for example, Bryant Gumble complaining of racism in the NFL.

Please share your favorite podcasts with the rest of us.
