Mizzou Orlando Vigil is Hijacked by Activists

Link to story

"A vigil Monday planned by several University of Missouri student organizations was supposed to honor victims of Sunday morning’s deadly shooting rampage in a popular gay nightclub in Orlando, Fla.  It turned into a blame session against Mizzou’s LGBTQ community for not being intersectional enough."

"Mizzou Assistant Professor Click Charged with Third-Degree Assault"

The University of Missouri assistant professor who angrily confronted and shoved a student videographer last fall during a campus protest is now facing third-degree assault charges. According to local media reports this morning, Steve Richey, Columbia's city prosecutor, is charging Melissa Click with the misdemeanor offense.

Click won national notoriety last November when she attempted to forcibly remove videographer Mark Schierbecker from the media-free "safe space" that was created by student activists and faculty for a #ConcernedStudent1950 protest. Possible penalties include a fine and jail time.

Dershowitz: it was the college students who first started burning books during the Nazi regime

ALAN DERSHOWITZ: These are the same people who claim they are seeking diversity. The last thing these students want is real diversity, diversity of ideas. They may want superficial diversity, diversity of gender, diversit of color, but they do not want diversity of ideas.

We are seeing a curtain of McCarthyism descend over many college campuses I don't want to make analogies to the 1930s, but it was the college students who first started burning books during the Nazi regime. These students are book burners...

By expressing my opinion, I am "harassing students." This is becoming a very serious problem not only in American universities, but around the world. It is having a terrible impact on the education of students...

It is the worst kind of hypocrisy. They want complete control over their personal lives, over their sex lives, over the use of drugs, but they want mommy and daddy dean to please give them a safe place, to protect them from ideas that maybe are insensitive, maybe will make them think...

When I spoke at Johns Hopkins University, the same students who were talking about a 'safe space,' painted a Hitler mustache on my posters, it is an absolute double standard."

Mizzou: oh the humanity

"In an ironic development, to say the least, protesters at the University of Missouri (MU) segregated themselves by race Wednesday night, having white students leave a gathering in order to create a “black-only healing space.”

Supporters of the group Concerned Students 1950, which has spearheaded the protest movement at MU, assembled at the school’s student center Wednesday night for a meeting after a planned protest march was canceled due to bad weather. And then, according to activist Steve Schmidt, whites were asked to leave..."

---------------

Reminds me of the time Occupy Wall Street segregated along class lines.

Very bad optics for these students, but I give them a pass. I think the sense of oppression blacks feel, that manifests itself in hurt feelings and social anxiety, is real and justified. They don't trust the white students who stood with them not to harbor ingrained racism that they truly can't help, though they meant well.
