Don't get around here much anymore

I have not been posting very much these days. What seemed so important to me has lost a lot of appeal. Plus, I have been pretty busy. 

I have spent a lot of time helping Lisa write and edit her book "The Brooklyn Witch." I hope anyone that reads this will pick up a copy. And please leave a review. It is very important to help the algorithm. We have been doing author visits and book signings and trying to promote it but it's a struggle. Especially for a self-published book. It's very time consuming and leaves very little time for the luxury of blogging.

In my small amount of free time, I get to write my own books. I have five in various stages of completion and hope to turn my attention to them this summer.

On blogging

 

Blogging is an interesting thing. I love to do it. But it sometimes becomes a chore. 

You see the politics of it has begun to bore me. Wait that's not true. It has always sort of bored me. That's why my blogs always had a ton of non-political posts. I can't get upset so much at the vagaries and bullshit of the current outrages. I know where I stand. Most people are set in their positions. The latest outrage is just the latest outrage. If it's not Trayvon Martin it is Kyle Rittenhouse. It's all the same bullshit.

I come to realize that I want to blog about my personal doings. Which I don't think a lot of people are interested in. Or should be revealed and talked about for one reason or another. So I let days go by before I blog something.

I hope I can got more inspired. It is just that Slow Joe Biden has sucked all of the interest out of me. 

I mean he really sucks.

The name of this blog is of course Lem's Levity. But we haven't seen Lem in a while. He posts occasionally in the new beef joint but he doen't hang out with his old friends.

This has all happened before as I am sure if you are reading here you are already aware. The big dust up that brought about the genesis of this blog has been swept under the rug. I believe many of the posts and comments that went into the explosion have been deleted. Even on this blog by Lem. I recently went back in time and noticed a lot of stuff missing. Of course that was then and this is now. We don't delete troublesome posts here anymore. If you say just know it will go on your permeant record. 

I hope Shouting Thomas and other refugees who want a place to express themselves will join us here in this experiment of free speech and angry old man get off of my lawn speechifying.

Sixty asked me to delete the links on the sidebar that lets you access any posts that relate to a particulate subject. So if you want to follow those threads just click on the link at the bottom of a particular post.

If anyone has any other suggestions as to layout or format please let me know.

I wrote it and then I deleted it

I wrote a whole post about how the stars of the show Glee were doomed but I deleted it. I thought about and I thought that some of my coauthors might not want to be associated with my thoughts.

I thought about the thought police who might find the post and try to destroy me and mine.

It is just not worth it anymore. You can't count on the First Amendment to protect you. You can't count on the government or the law to protect you.

You are on your own.

After the scandal the greatest star had to change his name. To both ask for forgiveness and make a problem:

Two heads are better than one.......err I guess?

 I am happy to report that we will be having some new contributors soon as I have sent out several invitations to authors both old and new. Some of your old favorites and a few new authors that I can't wait to read. If two heads are better than one then I bet seven or eight are as good as it gets.

I just want to apologize for the delay in getting to some of my email as I don't check it everyday. So don't worry if I don't answer right away.

I find it amusing that the guy who is the biggest trouble maker and problem is running this clown car but hey waddayagonnado?

I don't want to change anything. It is a total free speech zone. I really wanted to protect the archives. Many of us have put a lot of work into these posts and I just didn't want to see it go away.

Please email me with you comments, suggestions and gripes. I will try to address them the best way I know how.

I would also like some of our frequent commentators like edutcher and Spinelli to be more included by posting their own entries. Let's see if we can spice it up a little.

Just think of me as a kind and benevolent dictator.

I'm closing this blog

It has become incrementally clear to me that "free speech" as we once thought we enjoyed, as a right, is on the verge of disappearing.

It's too dangerous for me to continue to endorse this (free-for-all) blog given the "woke" nature of the company employing me. I've chosen to adapt to the new realities as I perceive them.

I'm not going to cite examples of what I'm talking about. Feel free to put them in the comments, if you want. I will be leaving the blog open for a few days, to give you fellas and madams an opportunity to comment, on the comment section, as you see fit.

The best example, if we are to look for one, can be found here in this blog. First I was given the boot by Amazon; they asked me to remove the code bearing their name from this blog. Their email said they found some irregularities with the way the purchases were being conducted. But i believe it was the content of the blog they really had a problem with.

Then Google ads gave me the boot. They were a little more forthcoming. They objected to the content and they said so.

So, that's where we are at. I wish I could promise a return in some not distant future, but my gut tells me these changes going on now have a permanent bent to them. There's no going back.

It has been a pleasure. I will continue to tweet. If you fellas and madams want to follow me i would really appreciate it. I go by lemang01 on twitter. I'm planning on using twitter to keep you informed on the progress i posted about here.

The return of Leisure Suit Larry?

It looks like we have a troll here at Lem's place which is kind of unusual since we haven't had one since the beginning of the blog. I think that is because the readership has really declined precipitously since the early days. Which is fine since all of those who post or comment here enjoy it and that is good enough for me. The bloggers and commenters we have here are cherce. We love youse guys.

I hope it is not who I think it is because he is a really poor troll. We have masterful trolls here with Sixty, Nick and me so he is our of his league. Let's hope it is just a temporary thing since the blogger profile was started this month of March. Maybe it is just a passing fancy.

Or a passing fancy boy.

"China holds two bloggers as it expands crackdown on rumours"

BEIJING (Reuters) - Police in China have arrested an influential blogger and are holding a cartoonist in a widening crackdown on online "rumour-mongering", friends and a lawyer for one of them said on Thursday.

Hundreds of people have been detained since August, say Chinese media and rights groups, as the government has stepped up its campaign to banish rumours. Most have been released, but some are still being held on criminal charges.

"The use of these dictatorship tools to combat the criticism and grievances within civil society could be counterproductive," said Zhang Lifan, a historian, adding that it could fuel mistrust. "It may not be beneficial for maintaining the regime."

The Internet clampdown reveals the insecurity of the leaders of the ruling Communist Party, said Bo Zhiyue, a professor of Chinese politics at the National University of Singapore.

"They are trying to send China back all the way to the Stone Age," Bo said. "Where is the hope for political reform? Zero."

I mentioned The Blonde's interest in doing a blog. She wants to do it on nursing, where she feels she has a lot of knowledge to impart. Of the commenters here, what's your expertise, the field on which you think you can really expound for all the world to see? And maybe critique?

The Blonde and I returned to one of our favorite controversies yesterday - whether she should start a blog.

Here's a woman with 43 years' nursing experience in many fields - oncology, communicable disease, rehab, med-surg, etc.; a great diagnostician (she can tell by your smell if you're sick), excellent knowledge of medicines and their interactions, and so on. She wants to do a Q&A format - kind of a nursing Dear Abby or a legal Althouse.

So, the question is,  you want to impart knowledge to a great many people, particularly those in your profession, what's a good blog format? And how do you handle comments? Or is such altruistic thinking a wasted effort?

Or do you go the Althouse route and keep it general with an emphasis on your strong suit?
