Bharara accepts Trump’s offer to ‘stay on’ as US attorney

There’s going to be the same old “sheriff” in this town.

Preet Bharara, The gungho federal prosecutor has agreed to “stay on” as Manhattan U.S. Attorney after President-elect Donald Trump offered him the gig during a meeting Wednesday afternoon at Trump Tower in Midtown.

“We had a good meeting. I agreed to stay on. I have already spoken to Senator Sessions, who is as you know is the nominee to be the attorney general. He also asked that I stay on, and so I expect that I will be continuing to work at the southern district,” Bharara confirmed to a pool of reporters in the lobby of Trump’s Fifth Avenue skyscraper following their 40 minute powwow.

Bharara, who’s been called “The Sheriff of Wall St.” for his agressive prosecution of bankers, also heaped praise on his own office.

“The president-elect asked, presumably because he’s a New Yorker and is aware of the great work that our office has done over the past seven years, asked to meet with me to discuss whether or not I’d be prepared to stay on as the United States attorney to do the work as we have done it, independently, without fear or favor for the last seven years, Bharara said.

Hillary's fate depends on the Democrats

There is much discussion about whether Trump's Justice Department should investigate and prosecute Hillary on the email scandal.  But there is no such discussion about whether Obama should pardon Hillary.  At this point, Trump said he does not want to "hurt" Hillary, but I believe that this may change depending on how Democrats respond to Trump's agenda and confirmation of his nominees.

The FBI  investigated Hillary on the email scandal and is investigating the William Jefferson Clinton Foundation, aka the William J. Corleone Foundation, which involves Hillary, Bill, and Chelsea.  As we all know, the FBI concluded that Hillary did not violate the applicable laws because she did not have criminal intent.

We have to wait for the conclusion of the FBI investigation of the Foundation to see the Bureau's recommendation.  This will probably take months.  If the FBI recommends criminal charges arising out of the operation of the Foundation, then the Trump Justice Department will most likely indict.  To prosecute Hillary on the email scandal, though, will require the Justice Department to do a thorough investigation with a grand jury to subpoena witnesses and documents.  The question is, should Trump order such an investigation now by appointing a special prosecutor?

As am sure you know many parts of the lying mainstream media is reporting that President Trump will not push for a special prosecutor to indict Hillary Clinton for her many crimes. It seems that Trump has indicated he wants to avoid it to keep from dividing the country. He is quoted by they scumbag New York Times (via Politico) as follows:“It’s just not something that I feel very strongly about,” he said Tuesday afternoon in an on-the-record discussion with reporters from The New York Times.
Trump cast his reversal as a unifying move that, contrary to some of the early backlash, he believes won’t upset his supporters.
“I don't think they will be disappointed. I think I will explain it that we in many ways will save our country,” he said, adding that prosecuting Clinton “would be very, very divisive for the country.”
Trump did, however, suggest he wasn’t taking potential investigations into Clinton off the table, while still remarking that he doesn’t want to “hurt the Clintons.”
