It's 1972 All Over Again

"Dike Bomber" refers to the alleged bombing of North Vietnam's extensive dike system. This lie was promulgated by the likes of Jane Fonda and later shown to be propaganda. A majority of America women still still love and adore Ms. Fonda. Oh well, they're probably the same ones who despise Trump. It's easy to imagine an updated button reading "Re-Elect the Pussy Grabber???"

The "Dump Nixon" button is far too easy to update if it hasn't been done already.

On the pro-Nixon side, I have but two in my collection:

Both of these could update easily to 2020.  

It's 1972 All Over Again

These buttons are from my personal collection. Note the gear/cog theme -- no doubt an appeal to organized labor of the machinist sort. These buttons came from Wisconsin where there was a large contingency of unionized machinist labor at the time. The gear/cog seems so anachronistic these days. The sort of labor that the Democratic Party is appealing to nowadays is mostly non-union and mostly not even legal if recent statements by all of their candidates are to be believed. I can't think of any major partisan constituency that would connect with the cog-in-the-machine graphics. Can you? ;)

political t-shirts

The Daily Caller ran a slideshow of some 38 most interesting t-shirts sold or seen at a Trump rally. Most are not all that interesting, Make America Great Again. Missed pun opportunity right there. Earlier tonight on Futurama, Bender and his son out of wedlock with a beverage machine were fleeing and trying to enter the base of a dam. Bender says, "Dam." His little square robot son says, "Damn." Bender sees a grate at the base of the dam and says "Grate." His son says, "Great." So the dialogue goes, "Dam." "Damn." "Grate." "Great."

We see right away people wearing the t-shirts are not all middle age white males, disaffected, uneducated and angry and living in mobil homes. Although I'll grant a lot probably are.
