"David Cameron resigns as prime minister after Britain votes Brexit"

The prime minister, who backed a Remain vote, said Britain required "fresh leadership" to negotiate the country's exit from the EU.

"I do not think it would be right for me to be the captain that steers our country to its next destination," he said in a statement outside Downing Street.

Close to tears and with his voice breaking, Mr Cameron said: "I love this country and I feel honoured to have served it and I will do everything I can in future to help this great country succeed."

Dodgy Dave

Notice: "Withdrawer" in the first instance and "withdraw" in the second instance, one instance of rhotic intrusion sufficient to maintain the flimsy curtain held up between straightforward unjacked speech. And he knows it.

Notice the same thing with, say, Paula Dean pouring on the Southern charm by purposefully mispronouncing "spatuler" in the first instance then correcting on the second instance "spatula" proving to listeners she does know how to pronounce the word without intrusive r and prefers it for clear speech and is just putting us on for fun in all other instances.
