Ben Carson got a hero’s welcome Wednesday at Liberty University, a Christian college in Virginia, where he pledged to stand up for religious freedom and not cower to “secular progressives.”
Fresh off the latest Republican presidential debate, Carson told students he’d use the “bully pulpit” of the presidency to espouse Christian beliefs on issues such as same-sex marriage.
"We need legislation to protect the religious freedoms of people who believe that marriage is between one man and one woman,” Carson told the spirited crowd in Lynchburg.
“Our nation’s survival . . . is rooted in our values system,” Carson said.
“And the real question is: Are we willing to stand up for those values and principles, or will we allow ourselves to be intimidated by the secular progressives?”
(Now you know why certain people hate him so much. Why can't we go from one of the worst Black Men in America to one of the best. He is a doctor who saves lives. He might not have all the answers at his fingertips but I think he would pick the right people to help him. I would trust him to make decisions for us. He is undeniably very smart and is worth a chance. Not my first pick but I think I would be enthusiastic in supporting him if he gets the nod)
