Althouse: "11:45: Crack finds more misogyny in Led Zeppelin than in rap."

The Best F*cking Article You’ll Read Today: Profanity in Rap Lyrics Since 1985
As we all know, a common ingredient in many rap lyrics is shameless profanity. No word is off limits. With f-bombs and assorted slurs streaming through popular music, it’s no shock that some people are up in arms against rap. As mentioned before, these artists reach a huge audience. Is it appropriate for them to be spitting profanity-laced lyrics to the world? This study won’t be answering any questions of morality, but it should give others some fuel to form their own opinions.
We examined profanity in popular rap music since 1985. The key word here is “popular”. To do this, we selected the five albums from each year that we deemed as the most influential or important. Total sales, artist name recognition, and album hit density all factored into our album choices... You can see the full list of albums by downloading the data from the Best Tickets Data Collective. For this study, we counted each instance of profanity in every song of every album. Without further adieu, the results....
Although the claim by Crack Emcee was that there was more misogyny (not necessarily profane?) in Led Zeppelin lyrics than in rap, this "study" does include a catalog of terms in rap lyrics (since 1985) that could be construed as misogynous. Terms such as B*tch, Ho and C*nt.

That's 3,577 times the word b*tch was used, 1,213 times the word ho was used and 33 times the word c*nt was used on raps most popular albums alone.
Many of these songs even have profanity in the title, setting the stage for the ensuing madness. I do feel the need to mention a particular song that was not used in our study, but is regarded by many to be the most profanity-laced rap song in history. Lil’ Jon’s “Real N*gga Roll Call” featuring Ice Cube from 2004 is mindbogglingly vulgar. In total it contains more than 329 cuss words, including: 165 n*ggas, 61 f*cks, 33 p*ssys, 25 b*tches, 21 asses, 17 hos, 4 skeets, and 3 sh*ts. It really is utterly ridiculous. I can’t with a clear conscience recommend that you listen to it, but I will provide a link....

"Deepak Chopra sues ex-partner over $5M donation"

New age health guru Deepak Chopra is battling a former pal and business partner over a $5 million donation for “consciousness” research.

Medical researcher Jim Walsh is trying to wrest the millions away from the 66-year-old doctor and best-selling author for his own use even though it is earmarked for Chopra, a lawsuit filed Wednesday claims.

Chopra, in a legal salvo he filed in a Los Angeles state court, claims he handed Walsh $150,000 in recent months, in part to set up and run The Consciousness Project, a nonprofit that would study consciousness and spirituality.

Walsh, instead of setting up a new nonprofit, simply papered over one of his own organizations, the suit claims.

The two men met last March and apparently hit it off instantly. One month later, Chopra put Walsh on the board of The Chopra Foundation, according to the suit.

By September, Chopra had given Walsh $80,000 to help set up the nonprofit, the suit alleges.

Chopra also gave Walsh $75,000 in exchange for a stake in Walsh’s research-and-development company, HESA Institute, which lists major universities and partners in its work of finding computer-based cures for autism and other disorders.

But the relationship soured almost as soon as it started.

“In time, Dr. Chopra and the Chopra Foundation began to learn about Walsh, his business practice and his past,” the lawsuit said. “A look into Walsh revealed a trail of unsuccessful, abandoned or failed companies and projects, lawsuit judgments, liens and bankruptcies.”

Walsh didn’t immediately return a request for comment.

The Coke in the machine

There was a run on a soda machine at BYU's Provo campus Tuesday, when students found it contained caffeinated Coke Zero. Traditionally, BYU does not stock the machines with any caffeinated drinks.
Alas, it was all an accident, said BYU spokeswoman Carri Jenkins.
"Coke mistakenly included a limited number of caffeinated Coke Zeros in our order," Jenkins wrote in an email, "which no one caught while the vending machines were being stocked."
The caffeine question for Mormons stems from the Utah-based faith’s health code, known as the Word of Wisdom, which bars coffee and tea. For years, some have suggested that the ban included caffeinated colas, and the church’s flagship school, BYU, traditionally has neither sold nor served such drinks.
But what is different is that last year the Church of Latter-day Saints issued a statement on their website, saying,
"the church revelation spelling out health practices ... does not mention the use of caffeine."

Another Parable of a Madman

THE MADMAN----Have you not heard of that madman who logged into Blogger in the bright morning hours, clicked over to Lem's, and cried incessantly: "I seek GOP! I seek GOP!"---As many of those who believed in GOP were hanging around just then, he provoked much laughter. Has GOP gotten lost? wrote one. Has he fallen ill without insurance? snarked another. Or is he cowering in Washington, D.C.? Is he afraid of us? Has he gone on a Cruz? immigrated?---Thus they snarked and laughed...
