They just don't want me to follow sports at all!

More bad news. Mitt Romney is in talks to buy a piece of the Yankees. Reportedly a life long Red Sox fan he wants to buy a piece of the Yankees because it would be a better investment. According to Breitbart News:

“If the deal goes through, it is expected to be $25 million to $30 million per percentage point and thought to be interested in one or two percentage points. The Yankees are valued around $3 billion or more.
Mitt Romney, in response to an earlier version of this story about his potential involvement in a sale, denied that he’s involved in the talks in a statement, per a spokesperson. The former governor of Massachusetts, Romney is a lifelong Red Sox fan and is sensitive to being associated with the Yankees after hearing early reaction from Red Sox fans.
Romney has apparently conquered his sensitivity towards an association with the Yankees by making the purchase through his son, Tagg, as a part of the family business."
Seriously. This loser Rhino wants to be an owner of the Yankees? Not since Mike Burke has such a liberal weenie had something to do with the team. How is that going to work? The Steinbrenner family is not going to cede control to him. Is he going to be a silent partner? Is he going to insist that we forfeit the game if we are behind in the first inning? Is he going to fold if the umpire  yells at him? Why oh why would they do this?
I wish George were still alive. We would have won a few more championships and he would have nipped this bullshit in the bud.

Got Mitt Uns?

The mansion at Kreisau (now Poland) where German intellectuals secretively planned a post-Hitler government
Forget any sort of Damascene conversion for Mitt Romney and his ilk. They are having a Kreisau Circle meeting of sorts in Utah to "plan the reconstruction of the post-Trump Republican Party" because "[w]e need to start those conversations now.”

Candor? It's not what's for dinner.

A friend of mine recommended a book that I have put on my reading list. Creativity, Inc written by the guy who runs Pixar and Disney Animation, and subtitled: Overcoming the Unseen Forces that Stand in the Way of True Inspiration. In it, he maintains candor, the willingness to be frank, open and sincere, is crucial to the creative process.

A quote:"Of course, there are sometimes legitimate reasons not to be candid. Politicians, for example, can pay a steep price for speaking too bluntly about contentious issues. CEO's can get dinged for being too open with the press or with shareholders and they certainly don't want competitors to know their plans. I will be less than candid at work if it means not embarrassing or offending someone or in any number of situations where choosing my words carefully feels like a smart strategy. But that's not to say lack of candor should be celebrated. A hallmark of a healthy creative culture is that people feel free to share ideas, opinions and criticisms. Lack of candor, if unchecked, ultimately leads to dysfunctional environments."

You have to edit yourself all the time in this era of political correctness. It is fine to say "Hey I am going to say what I want and I don't give a shit." But that can have a lot of ramifications. For your business. For your friendships. For your family life. For every aspect of your life.

People who are in the business of rabble rousing and making controversy can get in trouble for candor. Look at Ann Coutler. She got more attacks for dissing the Jews than she ever did for admitting she likes a back door man. The Duck guy got in a bunch of trouble. Rush got in hot water for talking about black quarterbacks and lost a gig. It happens to professors and politicians all the time. Romney lost an election because he told the truth about the lazy shiftless 47%. Even pizza owners can lose their business if they don't kowtow to  the gaystapo.

I spend a lot of time at a stupid little site called "Previously TV."  It has threads about TV shows and the mindless fun that is reality tv. I love to post and snark there. I got my own thread sort of where I post my Marilyn's Diary entries. Sometimes I wander into a thread and I know I can't comment. Like the one for the View. You have a bunch of low information opinionated types spouting off political nonsense. I can't say what I think because there would be an explosion. It is not worth the aggravation because you can't argue with stupid. So candor doesn't play there. You need to walk on by and let it lie.

That is where we are today.

Romney Begs Off

"After putting considerable thought into making another run for president, I've decided it is best to give other leaders in the party the opportunity to become our next nominee,"

Monday, November 3, 2014

Any interview with Mitt Romney...

... on any subject whatsoever, is incomplete until the interviewer asks repeatedly if he intends to run for president in 2016. Prefaced with contradictory random statements by his wife given orbiter dictum to previous badgering.

Have your remote handy at the beginning so you can click off the hemming and hawing. It's old already and we're not even properly started.

"Friends say Romney feels nudge to consider a 2016 presidential run"

"As Romney told it, Obama shows up at a bank to cash a check without his ID. The teller asks him to prove who he is, saying that Mickelson proved his identity by hitting a golf ball into a cup and Agassi proved his by hitting a tennis ball at a target. “Is there anything you can do to prove who you are?” the teller asks."
“I don’t have a clue,” Obama replies in the joke.

The crowd ate it up.

“When you get elected to the Senate, your job should be to convince Mitt Romney to run for president again,” a donor told Ernst, according to several attendees. The Republican candidate said she would, while Romney laughed.

Romney says Clinton won't be able to distance herself from Obama

Are they running again?
"At a book event for Rep. Paul Ryan, his former running mate, Romney said that Hillary Clinton distancing herself from some of President Barack Obama's foreign policy was reminiscent of the campaign he ran against the President."

"She was very critical of the president’s foreign policy, and basically said ’he doesn’t have one,’" said Romney, the 2012 Republican presidential nominee. "I used to say that during the campaign."

"Americans really wish they had elected Mitt Romney instead of Obama"

"Americans are so down on President Obama at the moment that, if they could do the 2012 election all over again, they'd overwhelmingly back the former Massachusetts governor's bid. That's just one finding in a brutal CNN poll, released Sunday, which shows Romney topping Obama in a re-election rematch by a whopping nine-point margin, 53 percent to 44 percent. That's an even larger spread than CNN found in November, when a survey had Romney winning a redo 49 percent to 45 percent."

Ah ... No, I do not believe it.

The American Electorate has been, I believe, dumbed down to such a level and so many redistributionist policies are in place, that they are NOT likely to vote for anyone who Is a businessman who has made money and created jobs for others so they can make money - because they are conditioned to think that they are owed by anyone else who works.

All it will take is another demagogue to talk about how unfair the US is, how someone makes millions while someone is on the street - Perfection is the enemy of the good (as they say) - so, a demagogue will come along and mesmerize the voters yet again ...

It is painful to watch the deterioration of this great country - that last great hope as someone wisely said.

KLEM FM

Despite the snide lyrical digs towards British bands at that time (1966), these guys were pure American Yankees from Provincetown, Mass.

Mitt Romney was pranking fellow students around that time over hairdos too. Imagine that: Mitt Romney and guys from P-town sharing sentiments.

Mitt Romney: "Why, across the world, are America's hands so tied?"

"A large part of the answer is our leader's terrible timing. In virtually every foreign-affairs crisis we have faced these past five years, there was a point when America had good choices and good options. There was a juncture when America had the potential to influence events. But we failed to act at the propitious point; that moment having passed, we were left without acceptable options. In foreign affairs as in life, there is, as Shakespeare had it, "a tide in the affairs of men which, taken at the flood leads on to fortune. Omitted, all the voyage of their life is bound in shallows and in miseries."

"Able leaders anticipate events, prepare for them, and act in time to shape them. My career in business and politics has exposed me to scores of people in leadership positions, only a few of whom actually have these qualities. Some simply cannot envision the future and are thus unpleasantly surprised when it arrives. Some simply hope for the best. Others succumb to analysis paralysis, weighing trends and forecasts and choices beyond the time of opportunity." (Read the whole thing)

Excerpts from a Mitt Romney Wall Street Journal Op-ed titled "The Price of Failed Leadership" The President's failure to act when action was possible has diminished respect for the U.S. and made troubles worse.

"Can you imagine Mitt Romney and Kanye West as in-laws?”

It appeared as if MSNBC's Melissa Harris-Perry and her guests could not quite figure out what to say about the Romney's family picture, in which Mitt Romney is holding his adopted black grandson.

So, they made stupid comments, giving my side a rare, legitimate opening to call them on hypocrisy and other nasty things, they themselves, constantly, I mean night and day, attribute to tea party and the GOP... you know the drill.

Editorial: GM got bailout, now ships jobs to China

"Saving General Motors from bankruptcy was among President Obama’s most frequently cited achievements when he ran for re-election last year. Democrats everywhere touted the company’s revival as proof of the 2009 bailout’s wisdom. That was then. Now, Obama has quietly released the auto manufacturer from a bailout requirement that it increase its production in the U.S. Instead, GM is spending billions of dollars building up its production capacity in ... China."

This is happening despite the fact that the Treasury Department has to date recovered just $36 billion of its original $51 billion loan to GM. By most analysts’ predictions, American taxpayers will be out approximately $10 billion when the remaining stock is sold off. Which is a long way of saying that it now appears that taxpayers paid $10 billion to make it easier for GM to accelerate its foreign outsourcing and send more manufacturing jobs to China."

It is yet more proof that Mitt Romney was right in the 2012 presidential campaign: GM should have gone through a traditional bankruptcy instead of the politicized farce of a taxpayer-funded bailout and government managed “bankruptcy.” The TARP funds involved could have instead been used to provide liquidity for a managed sale to a private buyer that minimized the opportunities for political interference in the new GM’s operations."
