No assurances from health officials would calm some 200 people packing a Miami Beach City Commission meeting Wednesday. They cursed elected officials and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for mixed messages about aerial spraying over South Beach and refusing to detail all locations where adult mosquitoes have been isolated with the virus.
"At first they said they couldn't do aerial spraying, but then they said yes," said Sadie Kaplan, a fitness trainer who fled her home twice to avoid the spraying. "Pick a side. Don't flip-flop."
Some argued the mild flu-like illness that Zika causes in most people doesn't warrant aggressive pesticide use, even booing a doctor presenting evidence of Zika-related birth defects to city commissioners.
"I don't want to be sprayed with pesticides for what I believe is a hoax," said Kiro Ace, a graphic designer who was shirtless but wore a gas mask as he joined protesters chanting, "If you're going to spray, we want a say!"
In a stunt intended to impose her word upon candidates uninterested in having it and for the glee her campaign and her supporters derive from it, Hillary Clinton's campaign mailed a copy of her book to Republican candidates. Then what? Gauge for reaction. Smirk. Presume she's the only candidate having written a book? What? Please explain motivation, make it sincere if possible, if anything other than unserious stunt by unserious people.
Last week the folks I follow were offended by this. They're all serious people. They wondered collectively if Hillay had read her own book. Because they did read the book. They actually do bother. That's how twisted they are, how politically bent. Reading for damaging entries, no doubt, maybe skimming for conflicting published statements. They point out the book she is passing around has her supporting the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement that she is presently campaigning against. Two Hillarys in one. Campaigning on sending her book to Republican foes to put them some knowledge of her support for TPP while simultaneously campaigning against TPP.
Darleen posts at Protein Wisdom without comment this video by Ben Carson campaign, happy recipient of such a book. (Too typically and annoyingly liberal: you simply must read this book in order to be properly informed as I, but usually by people smarter than themselves, they don't often write them.) The Carson campaign made the video below rather than return the favor. Apparently Carson campaign knows none of the Clinton campaign will ever bother to read A More Perfect Union, Gifted Hands, America the Beautiful, Think Big, One Vote, Take the Risk, or The Big Picture so no point in sending. Or maybe this is Hillary's way of saying, "Hey you guys I wrote a book too."
I almost forgot, while watching the Carson Campaign having fun, and interesting too seeing what it looks like, I was thinking the whole time, "Is that all you guys got?" They never left the office.
