To write with concision

I can't. Guy was telling me about a resignation letter he was writing. Told him to be like Hemingway and eschew verbosity. Four words should do, the last two being "I quit".

He thought I was talking about Steinbeck. No, Hemingway. Guy says "Steinway?" Kids these days. When I mentioned the Tom Selleck movie "Quigley Down Under" guy says "Burt Reynolds?" No, they are different people despite both of them having mustaches.

Aretha died and guy says "Big wheel stopped turning". No, that was Tina Turner who is fine, and now a Swiss citizen.

Same guy is walking down the street wearing a Bob Ross t-shirt, shirt even has the words "Bob Ross" on it yet a woman comes up to him and says "Jeff Lynn - I love ELO". Close, baby, close.

Anyway, here is some Glenn Gould, and by the poor quality of the piano you can tell it is not his usual Steinway CD 318. He is playing from memory and, apparently, could sight memorize music. If true, that is an unusual skill right there.

There is a version of Tina Turner singing Proud Mary that I used to like, but I can't find it amongst the million other versions posted on YouTube. The worst ones are those captured on a cell phone by someone in the audience. Very bad. But not as bad as confusing Patti Labelle with Aretha. That's bad.

"Put the flower boy down, Michelle – he’s my husband"

The Tory business tsar – nicknamed ‘Baroness Bra’ after being made a peer last year – was speaking at an entrepreneurs’ conference in Vietnam when the ‘boy’ ran up to her with flowers.

Baroness Mone of Mayfair told The Mail on Sunday: ‘The guy was fine with it and the whole room was screaming with laughter.

"Seattle man sent wrong invite for bachelor party now has to go"

"It turns out DiJulio, an information technology worker and a married father of one in Burien, Washington, had been mistaken for a friend of the groom with a similar last name. He sat as a "fly on the wall" for much of the email chain until Monday, when he broke the news after the groom's brother wanted a headcount of people attending the party."
Q13Fox.com reported that DiJulio wrote to the group, "I live out in Seattle, WA and although for a moment I thought it might be funny to just show up and be that guy nobody knows but everyone wonders "who is that guy?", buying a plane ticket for a cross-country flight just to crash a bachelor's party might be a bit over the top (although it would be epic!)

The groom, Jeff Minetti, 34, must have agreed that the party would indeed be epic, so the crew urged DiJulio to pack his bags. The Philadelphia real estate agent asked him to attend both the bachelor party March 28 and his wedding May 2 in New Jersey. The guys started a GoFundMe page called "Bachelor Party 4 Guy I’ve Never Met" and earned enough money to pay for DiJulio's trip, putting any more money raised toward Minetti's honeymoon.

"This is the city of brotherly love," Minetti said, even telling DiJulio he could be his best man. "Any and all are welcome."

"Parents shocked after ‘dead’ son answers door"

"An Alaskan couple devastated after officials told them their son had been killed in a car crash got the happy shock of their lives when they drove to his home — and he answered the door."
“Justin?” his dad shouted. “It’s Justin! Praise Jesus, we thought you were dead!”
The mix-up occurred because the actual accident victim had the same first and last name as their son — but with a different age, birth date and middle name.

“I was shocked and astonished and had to keep grabbing him and hugging him,” Jay told the newspaper. “I never cried so much in all my life.”

"Activists: Syrian jihadis mistakenly behead ally"

"Syrian activists say al-Qaida-linked jihadists have mistakenly beheaded a wounded fellow fighter."
Rami Abdurrahman of the British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and another activist in the northern province of Aleppo say fighters of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant found the wounded rebel in a hospital after a battle with government forces on Wednesday.

The fighters later displayed the man's head before a crowd in Aleppo city. But residents identified it as belonging to a leader of another hard-line rebel group, Ahrar al-Sham.
