'If the policeman had kissed her, world war three would have broken out.'

"An Italian student who kissed a riot policeman's visor during a protest has been accused of sexual harassment."

"Nina de Chiffre, 20, from Milan, was photographed kissing the officer during a protest on November 16. She had been demonstrating against the extension of a railway in the north of Italy."

"The photograph was likened to an image reminiscent of the 'flower-power' protests of the
1960s and an emblematic image of peace in Italy.
However the CIOSP, a union which represents Italian police officers, has lodged a complaint with Turin prosecutors.
Franco Maccari, Italian police union secretary general, said: 'We have accused the protester of sexual violence and insulting a public official."

Sweet and beautiful. Look at him with his eyes closed pulling away, apparenltly annoyed but patient. I can understand the charge. But I think they need to (kiss and) make up.

"Should have said 'Young lady, I'll give you one hour to stop that'."

I don't think that it's a riot policeMAN in that picture.

Is she an Italian lefty? If so, why protest against a train? Are things reversed in Italia?

Where is Spinelli to learn us the nuances?

We stayed @ the Hotel Berna, just 2 blocks from the train station in Milan. There was a protest one afternoon. The protestors were a mix of young and some older folks, and of course the homeless. There is a high speed train from Milan to Florence that people love. We took it and it makes a 4 hour car drive a 90 minute trip.

I spoke w/ one of the protestors, a young student. Their beef is the environmental impact, having to drill many tunnels for a high speed train they see as unnecessary since there is already rail service. The train from Milan to Florence had few tunnels and just cut a narrow stretch through olive and dairy farms. So I get the sense liberals don't like the high speed trains because they are expensive to build, expensive to ride, and make few stops. Our train from Milan to Florence made a stop in Bologna and maybe one other.

I think AllenS in his inimitable way nailed the specific problem here. Milan has very fashionable and beautiful women, the prettiest I've seen in Italy. We saw young people under 30 going to a performance of La Traviata @ the La Scala 2 nights before the season opening on 12/8. They have a very cool program where corporate sponsors subsidize young people going to special performances @ a very low price or free, depending on your economic status. We had gone to see the Duomo @ night which is right across from La Scala. Seeing these beautiful young women[my bride was checking out the men] excitedly going to the opera was heartwarming for this old dago.

Don't let a dago by without smelling the roses, Nick.

(Holy typos Batman. I deleted my previous post.)

When did the Italians turn into such prune sucking prudes.

She committed "sexual violence".

Italian must be a very difficult language to learn. Even the interpreter clearly made some kind of huge mistake there. Maybe they hired that South African windmill interpreter guy.

The police union is just pissed because they got outgunned.

"Run away! Run away!"

chick, I'm always honored by your puns, @ least when I get them. This one was easy.

Chick, We fell in love w/ Rapallo! We cancelled our last leg to Nice and Monaco and stayed in a 5 star hotel for 4 nights[Excelsior Palace] for $90 euro/night! I had to eat a nights fare in Nice but it was still cheaper.
