On An Individual's Words & Life Reflecting the Sum of Unique Experiences, Challenges & Accomplishments

Justice Thomas on Justice Jackson's race-infused world view:

“Accordingly, JUSTICE JACKSON’s race-infused world view falls flat at each step. Individuals are the sum of their unique experiences, challenges, and accomplishments,” Thomas wrote. “What matters is not the barriers they face, but how they choose to confront them. And their race is not to blame for everything—good or bad—that happens in their lives. A contrary, myopic world view based on individuals’ skin color to the total exclusion of their personal choices is nothing short of racial determinism.”

“JUSTICE JACKSON then builds from her faulty premise to call for action, arguing that courts should defer to ‘experts’ and allow institutions to discriminate on the basis of race,” Thomas continued. “Make no mistake: Her dissent is not a vanguard of the innocent and helpless. It is instead a call to empower privileged elites, who will ‘tell us [what] is required to level the playing field’ among castes and classifications that they alone can divine. […] Then, after siloing us all into racial castes and pitting those castes against each other, the dissent somehow believes that we will be able—at some undefined point—to “march forward together” into some utopian vision.

[...] every time the government uses racial criteria to ‘bring the races together,’ someone gets excluded, and the person excluded suffers an injury solely because of his or her race.” […] Indeed, JUSTICE JACKSON seems to have no response—no explanation at all—for the people who will shoulder that burden. How, for example, would JUSTICE JACKSON explain the need for race-based preferences to the Chinese student who has worked hard his whole life, only to be denied college admission in part because of his skin color? If such a burden would seem difficult to impose on a bright-eyed young person, that’s because it should be. History has taught us to abhor theories that call for elites to pick racial winners and losers in the name of sociological experimentation."

"This vision of meeting social racism with government-imposed racism is thus self-defeating, resulting in a never-ending cycle of victimization,” his response to Jackson concluded. “There is no reason to continue down that path. In the wake of the Civil War, the Framers of the Fourteenth Amendment charted a way out: a colorblind Constitution that requires the government to, at long last, put aside its citizens’ skin color and focus on their individual achievements.”

On Smoke & Fire Away

A north wind brought the smoke from the Canadian fires to our area on Tuesday, with 1/4 mile visibility reported in some areas like Detroit today.  Since we're situated in the woods alongside Lake Michigan,  my first thought on seeing the haze was that a light fog had rolled in from the lake.  Then, as I was driving an hour inland to Grand Rapids yesterday afternoon,  I could see the haze become noticeably more pronounced the further in I went, creating an unusual and eerie looking landscape.  Spent most of today indoors at home, surprised anew to see the fire and smoke Biden released when he yelled "No!" in response to questioning regarding his involvement with his son's "Chinese shake-down text message".

Is he a match for Walter the puppet, or what?

Remember all those disagreements I had with Lem?

About there being a Gay agenda? A lot were foiled in FL; like creating a Gay Riviera, but here's what all the civil whatevers and.faux marriages were really about.

I bear no ill will against Lem. He wasn't a Leftie. He probably didn't know, but it's been pretty obvious since the ACTUP days.

And now we have it.

Ever hear a declaration of war?

Well, this is probably it  (sorry about the topless...)

We’re here, we’re queer, we’re coming for your children.

Question is, it is them declaring war on us?

Or us, hearing this, recognizing a state of war exists?

Diversity will kill you

I had some misgivings about this post, but the Coast Guard has announced a debris field has been found, presumably the missing mini-sub.

Not to joke here, but, if you ever watched Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea, especially in its first year, you knew they weren't kidding about mini-subs being high risk. It was the counterpart of wearing a red shirt on the original Trek.

Now we have a real-life example. And it isn't as if people hadn't voiced concerns. You hear lines like, " a second attempted dive was abandoned at 1,600 meters because of equipment failures and electrical problems," or, "his submersible lost contact with the host ship on every dive". NAVSPECWAR, parent outfit of the SEALs, operates SDVTs (SEAL Delivery Vehicle Teams), manned by specially qualified SEALs, medical dive technicians, and fleet support maintenance technicians; IOW people whose life work is this stuff and whose competence is the measure of life or death.

So what does this have to do with diversity? Company founder, Stockton Rush, was a great believer in diversity. He didn’t hire “50-year-old white guys” with military experience to captain his vessels because they weren’t “inspirational.” He wanted 20 year old kids and made a practice of idiotic machoisms like,  “I mean if you just want to be safe, don’t get out of bed, don’t get in your car, don’t do anything". He was also quoted "bemoaning regulations and calling safety efforts a “pure waste”.

Somebody tell his widow.

You'd think after the last couple of Democrat White House occupants, we'd learn the folly of diversity. As they say, some people never learn.

Are you celebrating?

OK, we have Martin Luther King Day. We have Black History Month.

But wait, there's more.

Did you know there's Black Music Month (April, in case you missed it)? And now we have Juneteenth, made a Federal holiday by that 2 faced racist tripping over crabs* in the Rainbow House (he just loves Pride Month, too, doncha know).

Juneteenth, ICMYI, was a regional (very regional) holiday in TX. Seems only 6 counties ever had any number of slaves, all of them grouped around Harrisburg (Houston, as it's now called) and it stemmed from the fact that Appomattox wasn't the end of the war no matter how much disHonest Abe proclaimed it.

Joe Johnston surrendered the Carolinas on April 26, 2-1/2 weeks after Lee and, on May 4, Richard Taylor (son of Zack) and Bedford Forrest surrendered MS and AL. A week or so later, May 13, the last battle of the Civil War was fought at Palmito Ranch (the Rebs won). Thus, on May 26, while his CO was away looking into the possibilities of the guerilla war Jefferson Davis wanted (and Robert E Lee later said he would have endorsed had he known what Reconstruction was going to be like), Simon Buckner Sr met with Edward Canby in NOLA to ink a surrender. When he returned to his HQ, Kirby Smith, taking seriously the threats of the Radical Republicans to execute all Confederate officials and officers**, but faced with a fait accompli, signed off on it.

It was then that the means of informing the slaves in TX went into motion with posters going up on 6/19 and it became a local celebration in the Houston area thereafter. If you never lived in TX, you probably never heard of it.

Now Commie News Net is calling it our second Independence Day and we're told the slaves weren't the poor, benighted creatures we thought.

Like Hell. They should tell it to the men in Gettysburg, Vicksburg, Shiloh, Fredericksburg, and all the other cemeteries where the men of that war lay.

Much like a lot the Demos are doing these days, Juneteenth is another lame attempt, much like Pride Month. to stem the exodus from the Democrat party. Did you know April is Hispanic History Month, November is American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month, and May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. Of course, March is Women's History Month, but wxmyn seem to be getting the message they're history.

Like all the other exits, Blexit is making its presence known.

* See Lloyd Bridges in the Hot Shots! movies.

** Kirby Smith betook himself to Cuba for 6 months just to play it safe. Thankfully, the thought of seeing their old classmates and comrades in arms murdered like it was some banana republic did not go down well with the West Pointers in the Union Army. The chain of command from Grant, Sherman, Sheridan, Custer, and on down told Congress it would happen over their collective outstretched carcasses, so peace was made.

You could say West Point saved America.

Why Pride Month is a disaster for the Left.

Just when you thought life couldn't get any gayer, something comes along to show you it isn't gay at all.

It might be gay , but it's not LGBT. It's not woke, either. The wokesters think everybody will woke up, but it's the wokesters who are asleep.

Case in point (somewhere, I hear Rod Serling), in a 'burb of Baaston, the kids showed they have no Pride, only pride as Americans.

Wearing red, white and blue (what is this, Nazi Germantown?), they chanted “U.S.A. Are My Pronouns!”. And not just in the People's Republic of Taxachusetts. It's happening in Newsom's kingdom on the Pacific. Even in (gasp) Canuckistan.

Given all the browbeating and brainwashing coming out of Davos to indoctrinate the world, it's nice to know those crazy kids aren't buying any of it.

Call this your feel-good story of Pride Month.

Do you want to go over to Target and get some Bud Light?

There is a smell of boycott in the air. Or maybe it is just stale fish.

There has been a lot of bullshit going around about boycotts because of the attempt by the homosexual industrial complex trying to normalize transgenderism and grooming children. They are astonished that anyone would be against that. Bud Light thinks that dumb white guys should buy their shitty beer and shut up and let the libs do whatever they want. That is not working out so well for them.

Boycotts have not been effective in the past. I know because I participate in a bunch of them. I started boycotting the NBA and NFL after the BLM and self-hating whites began kowtowing to the criminal element. Many people said they would do the same. Some of my family and friends were vociferous in their claims. But now they watch football. Douchenozzles.

I think the only boycott that will be effective is the one against Bud Light. You can expect to be mocked if you drink it so most will not. Going to Target is a different story. I think some people will avoid it. I know I will as we got a few things in Target because it is cheaper. Most will do whatever is most convenient, political principles be damned.

Get Woke Go Broke is a nice saying but it isn't remotely true. Woke is all around. It is extremely hard to exist and not be snowed under with wokeness.

It is a lonely battle but we each must wage it as best as we can.

Can't wait.

I just hope they have the right trees.

Wait a minute!

Do they have trees in Detroit?
