Glenn Reynold's column at the New York Post yesterday, entitled "Team Biden’s refusal to admit we’re in a recession is just another reason Americans don’t trust our institution" concluded with the quote below containing an essential truth in regard to trust and a question in need of an answer.  

"The way you earn trust is to tell people the truth, do the things you promise to do and admit when you’re wrong and do better next time. Lying to people, breaking promises and redefining terms to escape accountability may seem slick to political operatives, but this behavior gets noticed.

Can our nation flourish when most people think it’s basically a big organized-crime operation? I doubt it very much. But who will make our leaders do better?"

Someone willing to address our current situation, involving a hullaballoo, a mashed potato, two shimmy shakers, the MSM twist and the ongoing locomotion of the runaway train, is sorely needed.  With a second question to follow the first:  How and where do we start?

On Family Sagas & Bowls of Protection

Two articles caught my attention today, via a comment link elsewhere to The Tablet, where two different family sagas are presented and portrayed.  According to the stories told about them, both families appear to have been responsible for marking the tablet of history through the employment and deployment of two different bowls of protection. 

The first piece, entitled, The Mystery of Noah’s Ark Solved, involves a long account of the speculations, theories and math calculations based on the description and numbers provided in the Hebrew account of the ark supposedly built by Noah to preserve his family and earth's animal pairs from a catastrophic flood.  And the author, who offers evidence to support his belief the ark was most likely a bowl shaped affair, concludes with this takeaway:

"Noah and his family may stroll on the deck of a ship in Hollywood movies and modern fiction, but Genesis makes it clear that they were shut inside the ark before the flood and emerged only afterward. Noah is not a heroic sailor, like Odysseus or Sinbad or Horatio Hornblower. He is an elderly man of great piety, locked behind a door that was closed from the outside by the Lord himself, huddling with his terrified family and frantic animals in a giant container that bobs up and down on the waves like a buoy.

That is why it matters that the ark is not a boat that can be steered, but a passively drifting basket. Among other things, the story of Noah in Genesis is about being faithful during terrible events, in spite of being powerless to help yourself and those whom you love."

The other, entitled, The National Tragedy of Hunter Biden’s Laptop, goes on to describe “ How a country’s political corruption, institutional decay, and moral decline can be summed up in one sad family saga.”  A sad and damaging family saga that continues to unfold, with huge implications for those living through current reality and enduring the aftereffects of that bowl full of dysfunction, denial and duplicity.  The author outlines the timetable, describes the contents and the involvements and distancing that make up the other bowl, the bowl of protection that to this day surrounds Hunter and the family at large, with this conclusion:  "But none of these powerful and experienced men, presumably dedicated to defending the national interest, lifted a finger to stop Hunter Biden—and really, how could they? He was Joe Biden’s son, after all. And by doing nothing about him, the pillars of America’s intelligence community became the curators of the Biden family’s scandal..."

"It hardly needs to be said at this point that, contrary to media reporting on the left and right, there is no actual investigation of Hunter Biden’s laptop. In August 2020, an FBI agent who played a role in framing Trump as a Russian agent dismissed the laptop as Russian disinformation. This assessment, according to a recent letter from Sen. Grassley, caused the FBI’s investigative activity to cease. It doesn’t matter how damning the laptop’s contents might be, or whether they include child pornography or photographs of Joe Biden cashing checks from China. Whatever investigation might exist is performative, meant to show that the agencies are treating the president’s son like any other U.S. citizen. It’s a Potemkin investigation, obscuring the wasteland that was once the constitutional order before 9/11 legitimized the intelligence agencies’ ruinous attacks on it.

Still, even without a trial, it’s clear that Hunter Biden has enjoyed one of the most maniacally reckless careers in American history. What distinguishes him from real daredevils, like rock stars, test pilots, and terrorists, is that he always worked with a safety net—one billed to the American public, which will continue to pay dearly for the excess his father afforded him..."

The Case of the Deleterious Dick Toc

 


My dear Holmes,

It is your most humble petitioner, Inspector Lestrade. As you well know it has been several months since I have last requested your assistance in the troubling matter of the obscene affairs of the odious Lady Chatterley and her grass-stained lover. Today I must once again humbly beseech your assistance with respect to these horrible people.

As you know we have been long keeping a jaundiced eye on the affairs of this nefarious couple. Ever since the disappearance of Lord Douchebag the Yard has maintained a check on the activities of this group of malcontents and subversives. We occasionally insert an operative into their circle to monitor their unseemly ways. Insertion is a poor choice of words and calls to mind an unfortunate vision as illegal insertions seem to be one of the goals of the group that surrounds Lady Chatterley and her shabby vegetable loving lover. The problem with attempting this mode of surveillance is that no operative can stand to associate with these two for more than a month or two as she uniformly expels them from her presence as she is mentally unstable and brooks no contradiction or even mild questioning. An acolyte lasts about as long as a mayfly in her unstable circle. 
 
However, a situation has arisen which requires your assistance. It appears that Lady Chatterley and one of her foppish spawn have instigated an correspondence with the notorious sybarite Oscar Wilde and his circle of rich and idle degenerates. They have been forward obscene renderings of male genitalia through her Majesty's post on numerous occasions. These drawings consist of artistic renderings of various penile perturbances which are drawn in slightly different poses. They are gathered together in a pile and then turned quickly to give the illusion of motion. They call this technique Dick Toc and it has become quite the rage in the social scene of catamites and degenerates.

You might ask why I am writing to you about these beastly practices, but I do indeed have an important reason. It appears that for some reason your brother Mycroft has received some of these obscene missives. I write to you to impart a warning to him and have him destroy any of these items he might maintain in his files before the Yard moves forward with the prosecution of these obscene practices. I feel I owe it to your family because of your invaluable help and our enduring friendship.

Please give my best to your brother Mycroft and inform him that the case of the Gibbon with the distended rectum in the Yorkshire Zoo has been dropped. Please note that the occurrence of what various physicians have termed monkey pox have been reported in those environs and he should be circumspect in his intercourse with his current circle of friends and acquaintances

On Cuffs & Jabs; Power Plays, Absurdities & Play Acting

 


Four jabs for Joe, masking up the waz, mad mandates resulting in the loss of thousands of skilled workers who weren't willing to experiment with The Experimental Vaccine That's Not a Vaccine, and he still comes down with Covid.   Another version of What's in the Room? and How Do We Go About Fooling and Controlling Others with Our Power Plays, Absurdities and Play Acting?

Driving past the marina today, currently filled for the summer with the boats of those wealthy enough to afford and maintain them, I saw what looked to be a pair of  "boat people" all decked out in their summer boating duds, sunglasses and white masks, walking their tiny dog on the strip of grass that runs alongside the docks.  I wondered if they wore those masks on their boat, or if they'd put them on special to walk the dog on shore in case the soft breeze coming off the Lake was stirring up the city cooties waiting in the grass.   Meanwhile the four POC laborers repairing the sidewalk further down the way were diligently going about their work wearing reflective vests with no masks.  Two different worlds, two different playing fields, two different priorities and safety concerns as summer rolls on. 

On another note, the Patient Intake Information form I filled out today for an upcoming appointment asked if I identified as male, or identified as a female.  Among the other possibilities listed (without the word "identifies" in front) were 4 other choices: "Female-to-Male (FTM/Transgender Male/Trans Man); Male-to-Female (MTF/Transgender Female/Trans Woman); Genderqueer, neither exclusively male or female; and Choose not to disclose". 

It seems the more helpful information to have on record with regard to health considerations and potential cancer concerns would be whether I have a uterus or prostate onboard, or was born with a penis or vagina.  But no, it's more important to know what I think I am, than gather info pertaining to body parts and hormones that might require attention or testing.  I decided to check "Identifies as Female" and wrote "I am a biological female" alongside in the belief that too might be good for the doctor to know.

Legal Insurrection has a post up today on Rep Thomas Massie posing questions and providing answers to Pete Buttigieg on electricity usage.  Reading it brought to mind the old adage about all electronics running on blue smoke, with the proof being when you let the blue smoke out they no longer work.   

Who knew there was someone with mad skills like these sitting in the Pelosi-run House and serving the the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee?  I didn't, and was surprised to read the following on Massie's website:

On the More Serious Side: Arguments & Challenges, Content & Process

 If you haven't already read Neo's July 14, post on her site entitled "Arguing content, arguing process" it's worth considering in full at this link, along with the part that caught my attention, quoted below.  In her post, written in response to the exchange that took place between Senator Hawley and Bridges concerning who can get pregnant, she first clarifies the difference between a content argument and a process approach and then goes on to provide an example of what more might have been said to challenge the promoted premise and address the heart of the matter.  

"He (Hawley) then resorts to some snark, which Bridges has already displayed as well; that’s a process approach. But my suggestion would be to eliminate the snark and go to a different kind of process move – you might call it a meta-process move – and to challenge the entire premise of what the left is actually doing here, which is to redefine reality through words and to reify personal belief systems as truth. That’s actually the heart of the matter, and I think it needs to be called out.

Not that it would convince anyone on the left; of course it won’t. But it’s an attempt to pull back the curtain and expose the inner workings of the tactic, and make it clear what’s going on and how revolutionary it really is.

Here’s an example, off the top of my head (there are probably better ones):

 What you’re doing here is the sort of thing the left continually does, which is to attempt to redefine words as they see fit, in order to drive a political agenda. In doing that, the left throws out the obvious traditional meanings of a word such as “woman” or “violence,” and substitutes something that not only contradicts the word’s traditional meaning but contradicts reality, and substitutes a politically-driven completely subjective meaning for words, a meaning that denies reality. [Then I would suggest shifting to a more content-focused argument.] We all know – although you refuse to say – that only biological females who are past puberty – that is, young women or women – get pregnant, as opposed to biological males – that is, young men or men. To deny that is to deny reality. And we all know that words are words and are not violence, and that violence refers to acts rather than words. The left doesn’t get to determine these things, and the left sounds absurd when it tries to do so. "

On Abomination & Admonition; Wisdom & Foolishness; Hard Work, Honor & Accomplishment

Yesterday’s ponderings on deplorability, crazed eyes/”I’s”, and liars in fire pants, brought up an old timey word of judgment and awareness that goes back to past experiences of nightly Bible readings at the family dinner table following supper; and that word was: abomination.  Which prompted me to wonder what it involved, and whether entering into Abomination Territory might be a step beyond being considered Deplorable or Demented?  

While use of the word abomination connects back to unclean food and sexual acts in the OT’s book of rules for the Israelite people, Solomon’s take on it, as recorded in the Book of Proverbs, involves a set of different behaviors with far reaching consequences.  Even though he carried and lived with his own mixed bags of wisdom and foolishness, King Solomon had this to convey (from the KJV) about what constitutes an abomination in the eyes of Yahweh, the One True God, who according to the story, had honored him as a young king by giving him the gift of wisdom:   

These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

When it comes to accessing what I’ve noted in regard to current political posturing,  I prefer this more recent interpretation and listing from The Message:

Here are six things God hates,

    and one more that he loathes with a passion:

        eyes that are arrogant,

        a tongue that lies,

        hands that murder the innocent,

        a heart that hatches evil plots,

        feet that race down a wicked track,

        a mouth that lies under oath,

Also of note today, another fit with my lived experience, from AmmoGrrll over at Powerline, on what she believes necessary to accomplish anything:  To accomplish anything, you need people who come from a culture that honors work and expects results – Mormons, other Christians, ex-military, small town people, small business owners, farmers, old-school geezers working part-time in retirement, entrepreneurs, Conservatives, and Central American immigrants!  

And finally atop all that the word "abomination" and considerations of hard work brought to mind,  I also recalled this admonition from a later NT chapter in what my dad used to call, “The Good Book”. 

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

New to my yard garden this Fourth of July, is Miss Ruby, a butterfly bush I picked up on sale this past week at our local nursery.  I was looking for tomato plants for MrM's deck garden, when I walked past the butterfly bush and saw a Monarch alight on one of the blooms.  And I knew then it was for me.  On the day my dad died in 1994, and for a week after, I’d had the unusual experience of a Monarch butterfly closely following me around whenever I went outdoors.  Whether it was a sign from him or not is anyone's guess, but I found it comforting, as he loved nature.  For as committed as he was to biblical principles, scripture and dogma, he also thought deeply about and genuinely appreciated the freedom to consider whatever came through to him as true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, or praiseworthy; and I’m grateful for that legacy as well.  I’m hopeful Miss Ruby might outlast me, and provide blossoms, beauty and a place for other butterflies to land in the years to come.  Whether she does or not, she's part of this year's celebration of freedom and goodness in the land of the living, and who knows where else?
