'Duck Dynasty' Family Raises the Ante

"We want to thank all of you for your prayers and support. The family has spent much time in prayer since learning of A&E's decision. We want you to know that first and foremost we are a family rooted in our faith in God and our belief that the Bible is His word. While some of Phil’s unfiltered comments to the reporter were coarse, his beliefs are grounded in the teachings of the Bible," reads a statement posted on the family's Duck Commander website. "Phil is a Godly man who follows what the Bible says are the greatest commandments: 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart' and 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' Phil would never incite or encourage hate. We are disappointed that Phil has been placed on hiatus for expressing his faith, which is his constitutionally protected right. We have had a successful working relationship with A&E but, as a family, we cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm. We are in discussions with A&E to see what that means for the future of Duck Dynasty. Again, thank you for your continued support of our family."

Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more.

Once more we are met on a great battlefield of that war.

Who thinks freedom is a pretty darn good thing?

At least our friend Rhythm is entertaining sometimes!

Oh please. Monday it's "why do you talk to phx? At least Ritmo is entertaining sometimes!" And Wednesday it's "Why do you talk to Ritmo?? At least phx is entertaining!!"
And on Fridays it's "Why do you talk to PHX??? At least Rhythm is entertaining sometimes!"

White girl problems.

HOW ARE YOU DOING PALLADIAN?!

Now give us a kiss.

"WHY DO YOU PEOPLE EVEN TALK TO PHX?!"

He's an enigma. I come here for no other reason than the never-ending hope that he will reveal to us that which we need to know. I'm most desperate to find out if he actually has any opinion whatsoever about any topic. I know he thinks all mine suck, but I'm not really sure why. They just do. In fact even that opinion sucks for some reason. There is much to be learned if he will only let us have but a morsel of it.

sakredkow said...

Just look at how the two groups differ in their behavior, approach, and attitudes toward others, and it should be moving more people, but in the culture the Tea Party, the clean, respectful, follow the rules people, get much more ridicule than the shit in the streets, raping, stealing, name calling opposition does.

That strikes me as your core opinion, the essence of what you believe. "We're all good, they're all bad." And that's what I think sucks.

Bagoh20 on taxes, or on whether A&E should fire the Robertsons, or whether Obama lied on Benghazi, or whether Romney should have been president, or whether the head of the IRS should be publicly whipped, all of that stuff is mostly fair. I don't have a problem with it. I've told everyone and you specifically a million times, I'm not really very ideological. You always ignore that though and make up accusations about what I believe. But whatever.

It's that core belief or yours, the one that I think informs all your other beliefs, your worldview, and that you can't resist pushing in every thread, that's the opinion that I think sucks. "We're/I'm always right, and you/they are always wrong."

sakredkow said...

And you aren't the only one here who represents that deadening worldview. But you generally represent it better than others do. And you are someone who actually could outargue me, if it wasn't for what I consider that extremely childish viewpoint.

bagoh20 said...

First, as we discussed, I was referring to the Tea Party vs the Occupy movement, and I stand by those characterizations after seeing both first hand. Should I say I saw something different or should I consider those two very different approaches I saw equally good?

On my opinions, would you prefer I make arguments that I think are wrong? Do you do that? Do you believe that what you say is just another random opinion, or do you think it's correct and the opposing ones wrong?

sakredkow said...

While I quoted you talking about TP vs OWS, those same extend always to liberals, and to the left, and to whoever doesn't agree with you in virtually all the political/cultural threads you comment in. You don't want to make me go find your smears and snears against the generic left, do you? I think you should just stipulate, yeah, that's about how you feel about ALL the left. You say it often enough.

You globalize and generalize. And then you add the icing by always managing to accuse me of supporting positions or people that I never weighed in on, just because I point out what I think are the flaws in your attacks on those people or positions.

That's how I see it.

sakredkow said...

That's a fatal flaw in an otherwise smart person.

bagoh20 said...

And another point you are wrong about per the evidence here tonight:

You pretend that these threads are some kind of relationship where we share our day's events and mostly try to avoid diusagreement, but that's not the purpose for you anymore than most other people. People, come here mostly to state opinions that have been brewing all day as they read the news, or to argue points of view. Of course we think we are right. Why would you give your opinion otherwise? But much more than most, I play with you, and engage you in other ways. I'm the last one here you should be saying just spews ideology at you and nothing else.

If you want me to think you are right, convince me. Don't whine that I just don't appreciate you for being able to conjure up an avatar.

No participation trophies on the right wing.

bagoh20 said...

Is there something beyond your dislike of my opinion that you have to offer, like maybe one of your own.

sakredkow said...

People, come here mostly to state opinions that have been brewing all day as they read the news, or to argue points of view. Of course we think we are right.

And I mostly come here to see HOW people arrive at their points of view, and how they defend them. Also a legitimate motive. Particularly as I'm open to being interrogated about how I arrive at my conclusions - to anyone who doesn't come off as a complete asshole anyway.

I challenge people here on their assertions all the time. But I'm open to anyone challenging my assertions as well. I'm not as opinionated as most, but I've said that all along, too. I don't misrepresent myself to anyone.

I just think people should be able to defend what they assert and I'll test them. It's not usually personal unless they get personal.

I think I've shown even when people are very nasty to me I'm willing to overlook it and offer civility, and a second or even third chance. I'll still point out their folly but if they can point out mine, I'll admit it, too.

sakredkow said...

I do offer my opinions on issues. I MOSTLY lean left, but not exclusively. I don't think my opinions are that important however, and you probably notice I don't go shooting off my mouth about how all my enemies suck so bad.

I genuinely like people on the right, I like many of their values, even if a lot of them are obnoxious or can't defend those values very well.

sakredkow said...

I'm also not going to argue any of my opinions with someone who doesn't have any skills at all. Someone who just calls names.

Don't argue with children, very immature people, or people who are mentally ill. That's my creed.

phx, I know you're in condemnation mode when you're sparring here (and elsewhere). But you're dead wrong about bagoh20. He's one of the kindest men I've (n)ever met, willing to offer help to someone like me when I've been in crisis. It's funny, most of the so-called evil right-wingers that post here have been there for me when I needed them, and NONE of the proselytizing, vituperative lefties have helped me, or even offered to help me, at all.

Funny, that...

bagoh20 said...

"But I'm open to anyone challenging my assertions as well."

You need to make one first.

Seriously, I've asked you this whole thread to make a point beyond this metacrap, and you can't, and that's what I see from you all the time. What do you think of GLAAD threatening A&E into this stupid action? What do you think of A&E firing their best asset on the demands of a small radical group representing a tiny fraction of their audience. All you say is that conservatives suck, and then blame me for saying liberals suck. OK, we've done that now.

I want hear alternative opinions on this blog, but the key word there is opinion. Get one. I have already wasted a whole thread trying to pull one out of you. I'm done tonight.

sakredkow said...

I know what bagoh20 offered you Palladian, and I've heard him offer other kindnesses to others. I already said from what I can tell he's a standup guy to people whose values he generally shares, he has a great sense of decency. Those are things I like and admire in him.

It's the black and white world he sometimes lives in that I'm challenging.

sakredkow said...

I have already wasted a whole thread trying to pull one out of you. I'm done tonight.

Whatever. That's your responsibility, not mine.

sakredkow said...

That's another failing of many conservatives. For all their talk of self-responsibility they often don't assume it for themselves, they just prescribe it for others.

bagoh20 said...

Well, thanks Palladian, but the only reason we help is that we need to assuage our guilt over wanting gay sex, but not having the balls to make that leap, but you knew that already. We are competing for your ass, but you didn't hear it from me.

BTW, who winning?

Now if you ever thoughtfully defended your position against my attack, or counter-attacked in a convincing way that wasn't just "Me Good! Them Bad!"
...maybe I'd be willing to let you know what I really think about things.

I can't be arguing my points of view with someone who's just going to be an asshole to me because I hold them. Why waste my time?

You, baby. You had me with the moustache and the dogs.

Any of you caring liberals out there, feel free to help me out with either a donation or purchase of an artwork. I'm a bona-fide oppressed homosexual who has voted for Democrats in the past, and who is still officially homeless, desperate for funds to facilitate a move for a new job and who would love to be able to afford to visit my single mother for Christmas in a few days.

Think globally, act locally!

bagoh20 said...

No you won't. You're scared to death of putting it out there, and everyone knows it now. It's not like you're hiding it well. If text could move, your comments would be shaking off the screen. You're our own little Barney Fife. You got one bullet, max, and you ain't wasting it.

Palladian said...

phx, I ain't no winger death-beast. I'm but a poor, homeless, hippie fag who loves poetry, trees and early music. Why not open up to me? Tell me what you really think about things?

sakredkow said...

Everybody, friend or foe, gets my thinking on anything they ask. Just don't be an asshole because we disagree. You enjoy the angry self-righteous namecalling, me not so much.

I think I've been more upfront and honest than virtually anyone here about my beliefs and my reasons - even when the reasons were weak. I'm the only one here who's admitted my opinions aren't important or don't matter, that I have no influence and I'm virtually a low-information voter (of course, compared to most of you it turns out that was an exaggeration).

I'm not one of the denizens who comments nonsense about what they don't know and roles in it over and over when when their bullshit's pointed out to them. Bagoh20.

But sure, I'M the one who's ego is so fragile that everyone who disagrees with me must be an idiot! I'm so scared that my opponents must be all wrong, I must be all right, all the time! I'm the one scared to death of you!

Good morning.

Phil talks about growing up in the deep south:

"Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers," he explained. "I hoed cotton with them. I'm with the blacks, because we're white trash. We're going across the field [*...] They're singing and happy." ...

"I never heard one of them, one black person, say, 'I tell you what: These doggone white people' -- not a word!" he said. "Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues."

The perpetual whiner grievance mongers at the NAACP went APE SHIT over this.

You are not allowed to have your own memory. You are not allowed to talk about your own memory. Perhaps the NAACP, in conjunction with the authoritarian leftists who run the "democrat" party can make it illegal to talk about your childhood in the south unless in contains pre-approved talking points about the mistreatment of blacks.
If you never witnessed a lynching, according to the holier than though NAACP – you are a racist.

I posted an amount I was happy to provide for Trooper while he recovered but that was made convenient by Mr. Spinelli (and his wife) activating a PayPal account they used to collect the funds. If anything similar has been activated that I can use to help out Palladian, I will be happy to donate a similar amount, because I know he was in a lot of need and it appears that's still somewhat? the case.

I like some of his art in an interesting way but I'm very sparing and selective in which works I decide to purchase and decorate with. So there's no need for me to be dishonest and use that route when all I really want to do is just to help anyway.
