"Massive Plane Mistakenly Landed At A Tiny Kansas Airport And Is Stuck There"
"Atlas Air Flight 4241 originated in New York and was scheduled to land at McConnell Air Force Base in Kansas, but instead landed at the smaller Jabara Airport a few miles away."
That was not a career enhancing landing for the flight crew.
Plus, when they prepared for take-off and pushed the throttles to the firewall before releasing the brakes, buildings two miles behind the plane probably had their windows blown out.
Looks like it took off without much problem. It seemed like that didn't unload the cargo, which was surprising, but I suspect (based on the nearby fuel trucks) that they sucked her tanks until the 747 had just enough fuel to fly a bit more than the 8 miles to McConnell.
Personally, I think Boeing is crafty in getting free advertisement for their 747 short field capability.

That was yesterday. The plane is probably not there anymore.
Compelling story I thought, in the age of GPS smart gadgets, a state of the art airplane lands at the wrong airport.
They were reporting they were trying to fly it out this morning. Boeing did calculations and said it could do the 6000 foot runway.
No word if Boeing can deal with a Socialist City Council member in Seattle.
We all make mistakes.

They wouldn't have this problem if Dean Martin was the pilot.
Dino!
He wants it plenty long (like the legs on his Golddiggers) and mighty dry (like his martinis).
That airport is named after Korean War first USAF jet fighter Ace James "Jabby" Jabara flying an F-86 Sabre. He took his pilot training in Kansas..
Isn't this incident like the beginning of a novel?
Virgil has the background... setting?
Does Sebellus work for them too?
Lem, maybe a mid-period Tom Wolfe novel. Sounds like something out of A Man In Full.
They forgot to check the vector, Victor.
Roger, roger.

ack... It seemed like they...
Missed it by that much...
Stuck in Wichita is worse than "being stuck in Lodi."
Pilot Dean Martin was hell on Stewardesses. Fly with Dino and you got blown away.
