Taking up Freeman's* suggestion

I'm creating this blog to be able to comment to Althouse's Blog posts, which she has decided to turn off.

UPDATE: She is calling her decision Comments Vacation.

I'm not going to speculate as to why I believe she turned off the comments, because, one, it's not going to change anything and two, I probably contributed to the decision. So, if anything I should be apologizing for contributing to the ruination of a good thing.

Althouse longtime commenter Freeman Hunt suggested*....

"Please blog at your own blogs and link to me. I notice where I'm getting linked, and can link to your blogs to include you here."

Make it so. (captain Picard)  -

ESPN went to a different commenter format themselves but I chose not to follow them because the only choice available to comment will be via Facebook, and I'm not a Facebook enthusiast. Facebook is not for me.

So, hopefully I'll continue to comment, even if at least for a while, it will just be for myself.

Correction* - It was Althouse that suggested commenters blog at their own blog.

I miss them too. I wonder about them sometimes, where they have gone, what they are up to and so on, but all I can do write my posts and see what happens.

I found Althouse, for all her talents - her talent as a photographer was undeniable - for all that at a certain point I found her insufferable. It was her "We happy few" viewpoint. She blew up precisely because her haughty liberal pronouncements were challenged. If you disagreed with her that meant you weren't one of "We happy few" so you didn't warrant an answer. You warranted a lecture on just how fine she was and how ignoble you were. Fine. G'bye.

@Sixty: Wood is the traditional 5-year anniversary gift. It's kind of your theme. Thank you, for posting.

I like Lem's Place better. Better posts. There are less people commenting, which is too bad, but the quality of those participating are higher.

5 years? Already?

I'm back to reading Althouse, but the comments are much better here.

Some of the old bunch come and go, but there's a good mix.

Chip's accomplishments as Renaissance man never fail to amaze.

If TOP is back to where it was (as they claim) when we left (or were thrown out), it was a long, hard climb that didn't need to be.

I told you people to get your ass back to Althouse and (maybe also or at the same time I recall not which) encouraged the Led Zepelin song "All of My Love (woohow whoa) to be played by Trooper and Meade.

I won.

The jiggest winner of all, right here, the not-yet-frequently-enough-linked of course the Great Moderate Chip Ahoy.

As Franknofeedback@ I declaimed Chip is wit personified and I stand still correct.

It doesn't seem like five years.

Is this a time warp?

Oh! I must be in Einstein's relativity 'if you're having fun' time warp.

Ace!

That whole thing explains why I'm older than I think.

I've been here since day 1. I should probably post under my real name, The Invisible Man.

Lem, thanks for allowing me to contribute. As much as I fall down on the job, I consider it an honor. Love you, my fellow babies.

You guys are the best. Thanks.

Congratulations, Lem. I consider the opening of this blog to be one of your accomplishments. Started by you, it was established, embellished, enhanced, and enforced in moderation through your vision and energy along with your willingness to welcome and encourage participation from others before handing day to day involvements over to Chip Ahoy.

The jiggy energy, stories, insights and pics that pop up expectedly and unexpectedly from the imagination, inner storehouse, and outer world of ChipA; along with the bowls and chips from the past and present that turn and fall with sublime and unusual accompaniment as the sun sets and rises in Sixty G's woods; to all that grinds and bounces around in TrooperY's Big Top tent and flows from his pen and bullhorn; to Chickelit's quirky, inquisitive and scientific queries, pronouncements, puns and mental K'nex, to DBQ's dose of reality that arrives as fresh as clear water and handles the input of argumentation and outflow of sewage as reliably as a well planned drainage system, to the semi-silly and seemingly artless artistry of deborah's provocations, gamesman/womanship, endorsements, avoidances and contextually challenged challenges that appear to stick with spit or booger glue, yet call for comment and new infusions of energy that revive interest and give the pot a stir; all this I appreciate as part of the Levity that continues to grow and prompt a wide variety thoughts and wonderings in me, providing opportunity for new awareness and a sense of connection, understanding, respect and fondness for those who keep this blog going as co-contributers.

Thanks for everything Lem. Sorry I missed this when you posted it but I was away from the Internet for a couple of days.

Your kindness and generosity and good humor are legendary.

You are the Head Honcho of this Blog.

Thanks.
