GOP lawmakers introduced articles of impeachment against Rod Rosenstein

Mark Meadows said he's had enough of DOJ hiding information from Congress tasked with their oversight.

Jim Jordan is also leading the charge.

Story at Daily Caller.

Commenters elsewhere say none of the Democrats in Congress will support this and neither will a set of predictable Republicans. They are pessimistic this will go anywhere.

First, there are elections coming up.

If it gets through the House, a lot of Whigs will be gone by the time it comes to trial, recesses for vaca, campaigning.

Second, the part of the public that's paying attention may well put some heat on a few people.

As for the "sophisticates" who know better, they said it wouldn't get this far.

It really is a shame that is has taken 9 months just to get to this point. I don't know what sophisticates is suppose to be or cover, but I do think a distinction should consider those who didn't believe the stupid party would change versus those that didn't believe Rosenstein did anything wrong. For me, I had enough of this stuff when we talking about Lois Lerner's abuse of power. That was followed by Comey letting Hillary walk while throwing the book at a submariner. I've never believed the dossier, it is has been out for much longer than 9 months. Now with only 6 months left of a GOP house, we are finally submitting the first articles of impeachment? I still don't think these people understand the sentiment of their voters.

This is just a shot across the bow.

It is not going to go anywhere until the Quisling Republicans are flushed out of Congress.

It is a work in progress. FLake, Corker and Ryan are being forced out by their lack of popularity. Trump supporters are winning primaries. Mike Lee and Ted Cruz have been co opted because of the Supreme Court. Songbird is gonna die.

The worm is turning.

When you flush out republicans, you get democrats.

Other than a few people like McCain, the most awful R is still better than any D.

There's hope for the country if Jim Jordan wins the contest to become next Speaker. More of the same if Ryan's protege Kevin McCarthy is named Speaker. RINOS absolutely positively don't give a crap what the base wants. Didja hear about their latest attempt to water down Session's rules for granting amnesty to Central Americans? If their amendment passes all a Guatemalan will have to say is "I feel threatened by a gang." I kid you not.

I think he can be fired because he's high enough up in the food chain, but I think Trump enjoys watching these creeps destroy themselves.

And Rs only get replaced by Demos in Demo or Whig Administrations. We ain't got none of them.

You nailed it. Let's see how November turns out.

Rome wasn't built in a day and the Deplorables didn't sack it overnight.

Don't forget, it took Watergate 2 years and that was with the Demos in control of Congress and the media wanting Nixon's scalp.

Most of the bad republicans are flushing themselves this year, like Flake. So we can replace them with better and not get democrats.

Why can't he be fired?

Who would fire him? Jeff "I recuse myself for no reason" Sessions? Trump? Trump can do it, but Mueller would just claim obstruction of justice, and whether he would actually indict or not; it would give Mueller another 6 months at the taxpayer trough, which I decided long ago was the participation prize for all those that created this faux scandal. They are still getting paid by taxpayers instead of getting a real job outside of the Administration.

However, if Congress removes Rosenstein; Mueller can try to go after Congress for obstruction of justice, but even with the support of CNN and MSNBC; that won't happen. Then Trump gets to replace Rosenstein with someone to first hold Mueller accountable, then fire him, and then hold him really accountable. All that will take time, but damn it is getting old already.

Turley knows this shit. He has long railed that Congress has not used its power of contempt, particularly when it comes to the DOJ, which is the Dept to prosecute contempt citations. It's putting the fox in charge of the hen house. Turley says when contempt involves a DOJ person it must be prosecuted by a mechanism w/o conflict. He thinks this is a good case to set a precedent and have a non DOJ attorney prosecute contempt of Rosenstein. Fuck sake, DC has attorneys lining the streets.

Meadows is my Congressman. I love the guy. He can be fearless going against the swamp. When he was involved in politics in our county he (of course) made some enemies, and I was undecided on him going to the House, but he's proven himself. Western NC has had some characters in the House over the years. Zebulon Vance was particularly entertaining. Some of them have not been timid about pissing off their enemies, including those in the same party. We need some elected officials with balls to start cleaning house. Meadows got in at the right time.
