The fact that in a country where people drive on the wrong side of the road the shifting in a standard would be left handed has never, as far as I can remember, entered my brain until Chip's post.
Obvious, sure, but never thought about it before. I should have watched those James Bond movies more attentively.
Duct tape and black garbage bags kept the floor in the back seat of my 70's Subaru dry. Though it was made by Fugi Heavy Industries it rusted out like it was made TinCans R Us.
I'm pretty sure at this stage of the game I'd find left lane/right seat driving to be as tricky as steering with a pliers or vice grip. I'm also sure whatever adeptness I once had using a standard transmission would not have shown up if left hand shifting was required.

Hey, I've seen cars held together with duct tape and coat hangers.
The pliers might be pushing it, but who hasn't driven a vehicle while sitting on a bucket or milk crate?

I didn't know Sixty was touring in England :)
Sixty would go out to his shop and fashion a custom seat and wood turned steering wheel that he could sell for as much as the car is worth.
DB lol true.
Those are vise grips, not pliers. It is true, I am a didact and a woodworker.
"Please note the fine burl walnut dashboard and door trim, along with the finest in Wilton carpet. You did order a bucket seat, did you not?"
lol chick has competition.
Competition? I missed it. Is it for Head Didact?
