Owney Madden was an interesting character - he lived a long life, as near as I can tell, died of something other than lead poisoning.
I read Hot Springs by Stephen Hunter and in that book he was known as Owney Maddox. I should probably reread that one. I liked Hunter's work, right up until he grew lazy and farmed out the writing to interns.

Looks more like Batbroad.
She was a remarkably talented, funny and successful woman in a very difficult industry. Watch her old films and her humor just shines through.
She had a life long relationship with one of the most important gangsters in American History.
Owney Madden.
They were lovers for many years. He financed several of her plays.
She will be making an appearance in the next chapter of Meyer and Charlie.

I loved watching her movies when I was a teen. My mom didn't see the point.
