Newt: We are at war

“Let me start where I am coming from and let me be as blunt and direct as I can be — western civilization is in a war. We should frankly test every person here who is of a Muslim background, and if they believe in Sharia, they should be deported,” Gingrich said. “Sharia is incompatible with western civilization. Modern Muslims who have given up Sharia — glad to have them as citizens. Perfectly happy to have them next door. But we need to be fairly relentless about who our enemies are.”

Last ditch effort to get VP nod?

I'm pretty sure that's racist. After Abu Ghrab, we deserve to die at their hands. Besides, it's just angry Christians.

Newt could face prosecution.

Lynch is corrupt. Anything she says or does should be taken with that in mind. Lynch has no credibility whatsoever. Is deportation considered violent, now? In leftwing neo-fascist progland?

Jim in St Louis said...

Oh come on! How does one test for Sharia anyway? I’m thinking Newt is being provocative and stupid and a distraction. (I knew Donald Trump, Donald Trump was a friend of mine- you Sir are no Donald Trump)

No, I don’t have a brilliant alternative solution, but if a person is here and is a citizen and has not broken the law, then they can believe in whatever the eff they want. I hate the idea of government enforcing the correct versions of religion on people.

Of all the possible reactions and solutions this is the dumbest, most unAmerican, and impossible. Stupid grandstanding. Communists have killed many more. Hell, environmentalists have killed millions of children, lets deport them too.

Lem, I think it would be a bit too far for Lynch to prosecute Newt for those comments. Nothing he said was violent, unless you believe "test" means something physical. He also notes his satisfaction with Muslims. He's against Sharia Law. Lynch is against US laws.

Bago- it's red meat for the Security Mom votes.

And no different than when when the Dems call the Repub candidate racist, mysoginist, homophobic, transphobic [is this a thing yet] every four year.

It is how you win an election so I say good for Newt. He will backpedal a bit to a softer position by Sunday.

I say make'em all eat a ham sammich to prove that they are moderate Muslims. Maybe some salami and oysters too. Ok. Facetious.....sort of.

How can you screen people this way. You can't

"Do you believe in Sharia Law?"

Oh. No. Of course not.

"Well, Ok. I guess you are good. No one would lie about this. Come on in."

We should have an immigration system similar to other sane countries like New Zealand. A point system where you are admitted based on your worth (ability to support yourself and not become a drain on society), needed occupation (too many plumbers, sorry you don't get to immigrate), lack of criminal history, sponsorship by another New Zealand citizen.....etc etc. No access to public benefits UNTIL you are a full blown, vetted citizen. It is very difficult to immigrate to New Zealand.

Sane immigration screens for health issues, criminal past, and even YES, if you are from an area of the world that is responsible for the majority of terrorist you probably will not be allowed in.

It should not be a free for all, come on down!! (Bob Barker voice) and jump on the gravy train welfare/food stamps/free housing system. Prove you want to be an American citizen. PROVE that you aren't a drag on society. PROVE you aren't going to infect everyone with TB or syphilis. PROVE you are not sympathetic to terrorists or aren't one yourself.

I expect the unexpected with this bunch.

A couple things:

Newt is a private citizen and thus the Government has no business targeting him for his remarks. He is free to discriminate on the basis of religion. He can discriminate on the basis of color too as for example deciding that he doesn't wish to marry a black transexual, for any number of reasons.

Non-citizens of the US should not be afforded Constitutional protections. What is the basis for this other than to hamstring the Government?

You are correct. I have some friends who did a bunch of research. If you are over 50, forget it, too.

You know, of course, that this makes New Zealand racist.

Fact is, there are secular Moslems who, when they don't have to worry about getting knifed (or a Hell of a lot worse) by a neighbor (or family member) that's full-blown crazy, do not want to live Sharia, so what he is saying isn't all that unrealistic.

That hit me, too.

Islam's been around for 1400 years. We can comfortably put the death toll of Communism at ~125 mil in 100 years. So, it's not beyond the realm of mathematical possibility that the crazies have hit that.

PS oopsy, we let in people nobody else would and only 2 other countries do anchor babies, so our policies are only intended to keep the Democrat party going, nothing else.

And it's the late Johnny Olson, not Bob Barker.

I read a piece in The Economist. Nice is a hotbed of radical Islam and the fact that an attack occurred in that city does not surprise cops.

I have to laugh every time is see one of those Bush-era "Endless War" bumper stickers (which there's still a lot of the around these parts).
How's that working out, rube? We still have endless war, it's just publicized differently And we're losing but the tv doesn't blame it all on the prezzie. That's the only difference between then and now.
Stop endless war. What a joke.

Amartel said...

Lynch is awful.
Still pushing that 9/11 backlash myth. Still trying to work that incitement exception to the freedom of speech. The clod.
They backed off this taking-the-fight-to-the-citizenry approach in public but the threat, and the fact that this approach was the first go-to reaction that entered their dull little minds after Berdoo remains. Disgusting.

What we have is like the French and Indian Wars (75 years paralleling 4 European wars) or the Comanche wars (125 years from the Spaniards or 40 years from the Americans coming to TX).

You have to convince the crazies all you'll get is killed doing this. And that the locals will not appreciate blowing up their kids along with the infidels. That's what did in Al Qaeda in Iraq.

PS nd, looks like we have another contender. Flynn with Megyn Kelly.

ndspinelli said...

ed, Of all the people considered, I like Flynn the best. And, w/ every attack he looks better.

Jim in St Louis said...

Does Newt thinks the government is up to this task? The feds could not even keep track of the Orlando shooter’s wife. (has she showed up yet?)

Amartel said...

That was purposeful. 'Losing track" of Mrs. Terrorist. If she was Christian or Jewish and accomplice to the murder of all those gay dudes she'd be locked up tight.

AprilApple said...

I agree with Chickl. Newt can say what he wants. So what if it's provocative?

bagoh20 said...

"I say make'em all eat a ham sammich to prove that they are moderate Muslims."

I'm down with that since it will get rid of the vegans and vegetarians too. You can't trust someone who won't eat a ham sandwich or sleep with a dog. Apologies to my exes, none of whom live in Texas. Yea, Texas!!

FRIDAYYYYYYYY!

ndspinelli said...

Yes. There still is a 1st Amendment last time I checked. Here's a potential problem that the non rabid folks can see. You don't want to let testosterone take over. We need to be tough, but also smart. Saying crazy shit is not smart. Newt didn't say crazy shit but he was in was driving toward that neighborhood. Again, no pissing on ones leg should be the mantra.

ed, Of all the people considered, I like Flynn the best. And, w/ every attack he looks better.

If you look at his views on things domestic, I'm reminded of Colin Powell.

Flynn shows more fight (Mick, after all), but I'd be a bit leery of him and want to know more before I swung behind him.

Certainly, I could see him back at DIA or higher up.

ndspinelli said...

Make it a Spam sandwich, it's cheaper.

ndspinelli said...

ed, maybe so. But in the off chance Flynn is chosen he will be the War on Terror guy. Newt and other people will be the domestic advisers.

Pence is the VP in a nod to conservatives and evangicals. He seems to be a sound level headed if boring guy.

His big advantage is that he is an old white guy and that is the only sort of person who should be trusted to get anything done.

For that, a good choice.

I hate the idea of government enforcing the correct versions of religion on people.

You may hate it but that hasn't stopped the government before. Ask the Mormons. Ask Catholic Universities. Throughout World War II in Japan, Emperor Hirohito was worshiped as a living god. Not at the end, at the insistence of the US government.

Trooper York said...

Government is enforcing their view of religion now when they are forcing nuns to pay for abortions and contraceptives. But it is fine if it is Christians. Only the Muslims should be exempt.

You can't have a religious exemption because it violates the rights of the homosexuals and transgenders and the people who have sex with their dogs.

I knew this was going to happen. This is a double war. A war with Islam and the Radical Marxist Progressive Collectivists who are in leadership positions and protect them. Let Lynch try to prosecute him. Any judge would laugh her out of court unless of course she sends it to a rigged RMPC federal magistrate. Fuck these people. When will action be taken against them. If they can coup in Turkey, it's about time it happened here. We are already in chaos, lets start sorting this shit out now.

Not Catholic universities. As a grad (Villanova '70), we had a Theology class every semester, but you had a wide field of choice.

Learned a lot about Buddhism and Hinduism there.

This has been going on forever. The Narzis made kissy face with the Moslem Brothers and then the Russkies - who sent a lot of them to Terrorism U in Moscow.

Even Kaiser Bill made all kinds of noises about being a closet Moslem (and I'm not going near it...).

It isn't so much as enforcing the correct version. It is....IF you want to have Sharia Law and practice your version of Islam...you can't do it here. Hit the bricks and take all your version of Islam with you. Bye bye Sharia.

Rhythm and Balls said...

Am I missing something? Which segment of sharia is legal here? Amputating limbs for religious transgressions? Honor killing? Clitoridectomy? Killing apostates? Which?

They aren't in that phase yet as clearly these acts are illegal. For now. They do happen, but they are punishable crimes under American law. However, the implementation phase is beginning.

Like I said before, I'm single and I have little to lose. My .308 and .45 are cleaned and ready to go. I've had it. Orlando was the icing on the cake for me, but then Nice happened and I know it's going to get even worse because the RMPC's in this country are just opening and leaving the doors open for these sub-human savage barbarians. I'm in Detroit right now visiting relatives and frankly, I'm pretty fucking disgusted right now. Fucking towel heads think they own the place, they don't know me, so I just give them the death stare, they look away. Waiting to just punch one in the throat if given the opportunity.

Dearborn: There's no way that can be constitutional - assuming the report's even accurate. (The only link it contained was just to the council and not to any supporting documentation describing the supposed legislation cited). I'm thinking the least of the legal challenges to it would include due process issues (5th and 14th amendments). I have a feeling it could be struck down on many other existing constitutional and federal grounds, also. THere's no problem attacking it through the political route - I'm just saying you might not even have to.

Rhythm and Balls said...

And obviously if you forced other Americans to partake of totally religious practices then they'd get a 1st amendment challenge faster than you could say holy war.

Let the Muzzies embarrass themselves in the American courts and SCOTUS, if they want to. It would be nice to see something that stupid stricken down that quickly.

But it's ok to go the political route, too. Based on what we've seen in Europe, I have no objection to demagoguing against shit like that - no matter how much offense they take to it.
