It's indifference-signalling.
He's not signaling indifference or an objection to oppression. He's signaling that he's elite, too good and special and unique to go through the motions. You wouldn't understand; how could you? Go back to singing songs from the hymnbook of the deplorables, you proles. Marshawn would prefer not.
The team owners are behaving like cowards. All they have to do is simply tell their employers what conduct is expected of them while on the job. Instead, notice the passive-aggressive way they reacted to Colin Kaepernick.
