"ESPN broadcaster Robert Lee taken off UVA game due to name"

Via TwitterESPN broadcaster Robert Lee will not work Virginia’s season opener because of recent violence in Charlottesville sparked by the decision to remove a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee.
A spokeswoman for ESPN says Lee has been moved to Youngstown State’s game at Pittsburgh on the ACC Network on Sept. 2. The network says the decision was made “as the tragic events in Charlottesville were unfolding, simply because of the coincidence of his name.”
ESPN feared people would not be able to tell them apart.

Considering the audience ESPN attracts now a days, I see their point. But I would suggest to ESPN that this move will not attract a smarter audience. Besides, does anyone actually listen to ESPN commentators these days? The last time they, or Fox, carried an Astros game; I hit mute and with the DVR, matched the video with the local radio coverage.

I know, most of you have given up on professional sports.

Hey, all them Robert Lees look alike to me.

The cowardice of ESPN is....typical. The only thing that makes the Antifa and BLM thugs powerful is the cowardice of the "respectable" response to their threats.

Dear corrupt left, go F yourselves said...

I hope Robert Lee has learned his lesson.
Did he face some appropriate rehabilitations?

ESPN has been acting like fools for quite awhile, and now they have made it official.

...and not notice the "bad" Robert Lee has been dead for over a hundred years.

ESPN is imploding. They have laid off 100 on air people and close to 500 behind the camera employees, including a family member of mine in Bristol[my hometown]. But, like the alt left are doing everywhere, they are doubling down on stupid. Polling shows their executives that PC is killing their ratings. Employees are intimidated to speak their mind. This insanity was the main reason Trump was elected and even though he's been pissing on his leg, might get him reelected.

ESPN's been a PC joke for years. It's just catching up to them now.

Commiecrats once again prove why they are the real racists in this life. I wonder how long this idiotic dogma can be sustained? Leftists are entering dangerous waters I think with cultural Marxist encroachment into historical boundaries that have defined this country for good and for ill and I suspect that the American people are going to push back and do it hard. I want them too. A good Marxist is a dead Marxist. Let them see what the consequences of their actions are going to lead to. Let's see if these children have the stomach for it.

I'm sure many of you saw the Reuters report of ESPN replacing the Confederate General's doppelganger. Among the many questions and problems; I came up with this? How many people have a familiarity with what Robert E. Lee looks like and would then be offended by a doppelganger? Alas, Reuters inability to see the initial problem just doubled up on stupidity by removing doppelganger and saying the Confederate General was the Asian guy's namesake.

Credibility dies in the media.

ESPN has become the laughing stock of the sports TV world. Let's how they're doing after Trump wins again in 2020.

As fat and sick as Trump looks these days I will be surprised if he is even around in 2020.

He's just fine.

This is the icing on the cake, though; Surber thinks Trump had read Sun Tzu and I'm inclined to agree.

It's not every tactician who can get the enemy to win his war for him.

I agree Sixty but I don't think it will be of natural causes.
