"Fox News' Megyn Kelly accuses Roger Ailes of sexual harassment"

CNBC:  One of Fox News' top anchors, Megyn Kelly, has also alleged that she was sexually harassed by CEO Roger Ailes, New York Magazine's Daily Intelligencer reports.
Two sources told the publication that Kelly told a team handling an outside investigation into Ailes' behavior that she too was the victim of sexual advances from the Fox News executive about a decade ago. The probe is being handled by New York-based law firm Paul, Weiss, Kelly, on behalf of Fox News' parent company 21st Century Fox.
That's why she had not come forward to defend Ailes, following the Gretchen Carlson charge, like all the other Fox News stars.

Well if that is true she should speak out. She should not stay silent. That is just proof of her lack of integrity.

In fact if it happened she should have spoken out anyway. Or is she doing this strategically?

Either way she is a lying sack of shit. You need to tell the truth. If this is the truth she needs to speak out loud and clear. Period.

I said this at the time.

edutcher said...

Wow, I'm surprised.

How much did the Murdoch brothers offer her?

Trooper York said...

On the other hand I always thought she got the job on her back. So I am not surprised in the least.

This is a good week for Ailes to have a scandal. The media people are so busy bashing Trump, his wife, his family, and various convention speakers that they can only give this story cursory attention.......Ailes bears a passing resemblance to Jabba the Hut. I don't know if he's innocent or guilty, but in accusations of this sort, looks count for a lot. Pretty women get acquitted of murder, and ugly men get convicted of sexual harassment.

Evi L. Bloggerlady said...

That will leave a mark.

Trooper York said...

I think that Trump should offer Ailes a job in running his new news network. You know what? That will make a lot of journalist take a step back. If Trump announces he is setting up a new Cable News Network with Ivanka running it and Ailes in charge I bet a lot of on air personalities will soften up their coverage in hopes of getting a job.

Megyn Kelly will be first in line if you offer her enough money and airtime.

We have established what she is. We are only haggling over the price.

Trooper York said...

A Trump News Network will be a win/win. It will make a lot of money. It would provide an alternative to FOX for a lot of us who are upset with FOX. He can build it from the ground up and I bet he can raid a lot of news organizations. Or think outside the box. Combine Reality TV shows with news fare. Something new. Something innovative.

Lem Vibe Bandit said...

The funny thing is that Ailes "discovered" her doing local news in Topeka somewhere.

Lem Vibe Bandit said...

Hell hath no fury.

Although, from what I gathered, Ailes went to bat for her when Trump pressured Fox to yank her from the debate. Ailes said no and the debate went on without Trump and a big chunk of money that Fox would have made had Trump gotten his way.

I guess this is the thanks he gets.

Trooper York said...

Wait that's sacrilege! Reality TV! Land of Goshen!

But think about it. A Reality TV show like Cops highlighting the work of the police and providing high class propaganda for the Law and Order point of view.

Undercover Boss where people go undercover to find illegal Mexicans working Chamber of Commerce types.

You could do a bunch of mash ups of Reality TV and News that can be slick highly rated manipulative TV.

That's the future. Ivanka can use it as the springboard to her own run for President.

She can have a Wonderful World of Trump on Sunday nights. Just like Walt Disney used to do when I was a kid. I can see it now. It would be fantastic.

edutcher said...

Headline in the Washington Times this morning Murdoch would fire Ailes.

As I say, the brothers want control and they'll get it.

And run the place into the ground.

Trooper York said...

Lem she is just a cunt. A worthless cunt of the first water. If Ailes did harass her she should come out and say it loud and clear. Not float rumors to stab him in the back. These back alley leaks are what you get when you deal with someone like her.

Ailes made a big mistake when he backed her play. Trump made a big mistake when he made nice with her. Trumps play was to offer to do a prime time interview with Greta or Kimberly or even Geraldo. A hour long interview with Geraldo would have gotten much better reviews than the Kelly debacle. It would have been a lot more informative. Trump made a big error going on her show.

you have a wonderful mind Troop.

I loved Walt Disney on Sundays. I wanted to be the little fairy that flew around with a wand during the beginning credits.

bagoh20 said...

No, you should not go public with accusations of sexual misconduct. It can ruin a man, even if he's innocent. You take it through the proper channels where it needs some proof and he can defend himself first. In addition, I don't even see any imperative to report advances, if when refused, did not escalate. Some women are strong enough to simply say "no" and go on with their business like true equals. I like women like that, and I like her. She is clearly good enough aesthetically and professionally to have risen to where she is without sleeping her way there. Rachel Maddow is another story.

Evi L. Bloggerlady said...

So if Ailes made these harassment overtures to Ms. Kelly, why is she only making them now and in the form of leaks? So it was not so bad when she was negotiating multimillon dollar salaries, it is just a problem now?

Still, it will hurt Ailes, and that is the intention. Does Gretchen have a settlement offer out there that Ailes has to consider paying (or not)?

I loved Walt Disney on Sundays too, although I did not have the fantasies that Titus did.

bagoh20 said...

She was questioned in an internal investigation, that's how it got leaked. Sounds like she handled it the right way to me. She didn't need to bitch about it, so she didn't. And which one of you would turn down millions so you could bitch about just being asked. I doubt very much that she had sex to get the job. She refused and got it anyway. So she could bitch, ignore it, or sleep with him. I bet she chose wisely and with integrity. Of course, some rabid feminists here may disagree.

And Kelly's all, get your hands off me, Creep.

Come on-a my house, my house a come on come on-a my house, my house a come on come on-a my house, my house I'm gonna give a you figs and dates and grapes and cakes eh. I'm a pretty good cook for a regular bloke eh.

I'll sue your fat old ass, Toad. I'll ruin your life, now piss off already.

See, Kelly, this is why we pay you gals 70% of the dudes. The dudes would have blown me by now.

Let me be clear, I have slept with an older woman for far less than that. I felt no need to complain, and I definitely wouldn't have if I said no.

Then he could build a Trump World down in Florida. With rides and all kinds of stuff. Hiring only Americans.

Think of the possibilities.

"The Phlinadro Tea Cup Ride and Shooting Gallery" where you dress up as a policeman and pull over black people riding in tea cups. And you get to shoot them. Fun for everyone.

"The Michael Brown Shopping Spree" where you can walk into the gift shop and beat up the proprietor and steal whatever you want with the media cheering you on.

"The Gretchen Carlson Sex Show" where you can pretend that a dried up prune is a juicy grape and can complain and demand a refund years later because you didn't enjoy the ride today.

"The Eric Garner Weight Loss Clinic" where you get to sit on fat people until they agree to go on a diet. Chris Christie can run that one.

I am telling you this is a big time money maker!

Not surprised. Professional women handle it and move on. We do not play the victim card. For one thing many men of a certain age don't, or didn't back in my day, think sexual harassment was a big deal. That includes non-harassers. No woman of ambition wants a reputation of being difficult.

Kelly, a lawyer, would of course remain discrete publicly about the controversy, especially if she had experience pertinent to the lawsuit. As to Ailes supporting Kelly against Trump, hasn't everyone worked successfully with someone they didn't like? Do all businessmen try to destroy the careers of women who say No to them? Sounds like something Trump would do, but I suspect Ailes rolled with it and made decisions based on ratings.

Who says he did? We have the unsupported word of 2 women, just like Cosby's case, but here contradicted by the words of several more.

bagoh20 said...

Drudge is backtracking now. 21st Century Fox is saying Ailes still working. Suspicion is that Hannity, O'Reilly and others have a clause in their contracts allowing them to leave if Ailes does. Messy little things, contracts.

edutcher said...

For those interested, Here's the FT article.

Ailes, however, is outraged that, what the Murdoch brothers are doing to him, the Left is trying to do to Cosby.

If Trump or any other Conservative(s) wanted to found his own news channel, or group of channels, I think all he needs is an offer that can't be refused.

Edwina just feels sad and left out that he never got raped by Cosby.

edutcher said...

Full moon tonight and Ritmo is showing us once again how the word lunatic came to be coined.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

edwina - tell the thirty+ women that you'll agree to getting raped by Cosby if it will put their grievances to rest. Take one for team right-wing! The Republican party will rise again if only edwina's butt-for-a-butt justice will suffice for the necessary blood ransom to redeem Cosby's usefulness to edwina's cause. Every social conservative should be able to rape a couple dozen women or two; their cause really is just that important. It's the price society should pay for such a gem as Mr. Jello Pudding Pop.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

Edwina almost got a Jello Pudding Pop to the left buttcheek. But Cos got too excited and went splat all over edwin's underwear.

You let him down, edwin. You let him down. Time for a do-over.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

It must take someone very special to make William Cosby into a political cause.

Thou shalt not speak out against a right-wing rapist, saith edwina.

edutcher said...

When Ritmo can tell us at what point any of the allegations made against Cosby have been proven in a court of law, he can stick his pudding pop up his own ass; in the meantime, all he shows is, like all who live in gated communities, he has a hard time comprehending the concept of presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Or maybe he's just doing his warm up for April, now that the gin has worn off.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

It's sounds like edwina's saying that as long as an alleged rapist makes it past the statute of limitations, society can no longer draw it's own conclusions and has to pretend to arbitrarily abide by journalistic standards in describing the man and his acts.

edwina - you got any daughters or female relatives? I mean, any that are attractive enough for anyone to want to have sex with?

If so, I'd suggest you see if you can get them to spend some extra special "alone time" with the guy.

Well, I would if you hadn't already gone on the record as saying that rape's not such a bad thing.

Come to think of it, edwina - if you think that rape's not such a bad thing, then why do you object so vociferously to what his victims have spoken up about and what everyone else finds to be a credible preponderance of the evidence? Rape's no big deal to you - so don't you worry your precious little head off over Cosby's rapes. Remember, you said the act is no big deal.

That was, until you could politicize it. And then it became A VERY BIG DEAL. Lol!

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

Oh, and edwina - there are at least eight active sex assault-related suits against the guy and one criminal charge ramping up to go, with enough evidence to have required a $1 million bail for his release. Further, I'm not aware of how normal, non-rapists admit to having to drug their conquests with Quaaludes in order to sedate them sufficiently for the act to proceed (which Cosby bragged about doing). But maybe you know more about that kind of behavior than most of us boring, white-bread, normal sex-havers.

edutcher said...

Ritmo cannot read, so I refer his mommy to my last comment so she can read it to him.

In the real world, Trump is officially the nominee, put over the top by his home state, as is often the tradition.

for those who have never seen a political convention, I will explain what happens next.

The roll call will probably be finished in the name of record keeping, and then a proposal will be made to make the vote unanimous by acclimation. Outnumbering the other delegates 5 to 3, if not more, the measure will be carried.

(someone) will then scream, "Nooooo, it's not fairrrr".

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

Is edwin confusing Bill Cosby with Donald Trump?

Oh. So I guess I was the one who "changed the subject" by being the first to raise the non-issue of the has-been known as "Cosby?"

Well, I think you'd have to get the credit for that, lil' edwina - because you did it at 5:53 PM, nearly an hour before I commented on this thread at all.

So you have a funny way of determining whom to blame for and what counts as "changing the subject."

Babble on all you want.

That's what I thought you were doing with Cosby... as you usually do every time you type, actually. Is it only "babbling" when others do it? Or you you also blabbering and babbling?

We should try to emulate you less, edwin. You obviously find such imitation to be more a mockery than anything else.

Mirrors, ed. Mirrors.

For those curious,

The final roll call tally

Trump Cruz Kasich Rubio

1725 484 125 123

The AP delegate count after June

Trump Cruz Rubio Kasich
1543 559 165 161

There were 30 delegates that were not allocated in June, but it would also appear there were large-scale defections from the other 3.

Carson, in a nice touch, outpolled Jeb! 4 to 3.

Although it definitely isn't a good idea for a boss to try. Which might sound unfair to bosses, but bosses already get plenty everywhere else!

Either way, to make a quid pro quo out of it is pretty wrong by any measure - definitely legally. And especially given the look of the guy.

I read an essay once about how paranoid the guy is... living in a compound, reinforcing its barriers, etc., keeping his whereabouts secret. Combine that with his old wormlike countenance and I guess he just figured there was no other way to get any.

Poor guy.

But hey! The male right-wing blowhard pundits sure seem to love working for him!

Interesting development to occur right at the climax of the Trump campaign. But I doubt it will stop the evangelicals from flocking to him!

I just don't trust media anymore, any of it, ever. She may well have described harassment and viewed it at the time as harassment. She may have viewed it all as something she could deal with without offending him but then stayed "silent" because she thought it possible that he'd make a pest of himself to an employee even if she didn't necessarily view his advances toward her that way. Or... she may have described clearly abusive behavior which he only stopped when she reminded him she was a lawyer and he'd now dug himself a very deep hole.

I don't trust media or journalists to do simple accurate reporting and bother to figure out what an "unwanted advance" was before totally running with that as her accusing him of sexual harassment.

Dumb *ss feminists these days call it rape if some guy looks at your butt as you walk by so who the heck knows.

And yes, I very much agree, Ritmo, It's wrong for a boss to even ask because a hopeful employee may well feel that they can't risk saying no. But THAT sensibility has been out the window ever since Bill Clinton was president.

Bleach Drinkers Curing Coronavirus Together said...

It appears that the rest of FOX's talent is willing to follow Ailes out the door. In fact the big three of O'Reiily, Greta and Hannity have a clause that the can leave if Ailes is fired and are ready to follow him to a new network. Bloody Megyan timed her "revelation" to take some of the focus away from Trump getting the nomination. Once again it is all about her. In fact the "sexual advances" that she described amounts to a hug from ten years ago!

She is almost as hated at Fox as Ted Cruz is in Congress! Now that is impressive.

Trooper York said...

Everyone should take a lesson from this. Trump is supporting and trying to help Ailes even though they went toe to toe about the debates with some pretty harsh to and fro. Bloody Megyn had no problem throwing Ailes under the bus to advance her career. Who do you want in a foxhole with you?
