Of course Obama won't. Bush did. Much of the GOP field promised toughness with Cruz being the most severe by talking about turning the desert into glass. Hillary was pretty enthusiastic about bombing Libya, and I think she would have no problem bombing ISIS, she will just be incompetent, incomplete and inconclusive about it, especially if it gets messy. Trump has said that he's against our middle east military adventurism past and future, while still saying he'd be tough and smart - whatever that means. I have no idea what he would do, especially if it gets messy, expensive, and unpopular.
I was never a fan of Bush's domestic policy, but he stayed the course in the face of overwhelming difficulty, criticism and unpopularity until we won a very expensive beachhead and control rod only to have Obama throw it away with wide popular support from all sides. I was in favor or winning and staying, by force if needed, and few agreed with that then or even today. Weakness has consequences, like leading in the long run to even more war than toughness does. I blame the American people for being fickle, and believing hope is a strategy against evil. We need to be dangerous - reliably so. Trump could bring that, but he's not convincing me yet.
