Thanks ric. A circumcision story. We adopted our son from Colombia. He was 2 and not circumcised. He had a series of urinary infections and doc urged circumcision when he was 10. My poor boy. Carlos was certain on circumcision 2 days after Dominick's birth. Mom was on the fence. We related the trauma @ 10 and I also chimed in, "Jews have been doing it forever, and they've done quite well!" We were at the hospital when baby Dominick was cut. No mohel, however. Carlos was tearful when they brought the baby back crying loudly. True empathy.

Starting about 20-30 years ago circumcision went out of vogue. And, many boys have the same problems as Carlos. We know a 20 year old who just got sliced. He laid into mom for not having it done when he was born.

spinelli - The Commandment from God to Abraham is to circumcise Isaac (his firstborn) on the eighth day. Why the eigth day? Only recently scientists discovered that Vitamin K is not present in newborns in sufficient quantity to stop potentially fatal hemorrhaging until the eigth day (when it is present in sufficient quantity). It's enough to make you a believer!

If you want a much fuller explanation just google circumcision eigth day.

Dear Diary,

Same as ever. I can never predict anything. I read the comments on YouTube to a video about a woman singing beautifully to a newborn. Her voice is quite good and she has the baby's full attention throughout who tries to mouth the words with the woman. The love in the scene is palpable and that's what the commenters on YouTube talked about. All 10,000 of them. When I posted the video on my own site the discussion was about cutting off the tips of boy's dicks.

Chip, You're welcome.

ric, Vitamin K is now routinely injected into newborns. But, those Jews knew a long time ago.
