Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead

The full dealio, Emilio. And the cool thing about it is you can learn Spanish at the same time.

I popped for a juicer. See, it went like this. I've been taking these 8 Greens tablets that dissolve in water that contain spinach, wheatgrass, kale, blue green algae, spirulina, aloe vera, chlorella and barley grass and I like them a lot. I drink them diluted X4 and the whole time I'm thinking, "Wouldn't this be a lot better if they were all real greens and not the dehydrated processed versions?" I intend to keep on with the tablets so I might as well get on with actual juicing.

It's an investment. And it's not taken lightly.

Choosing a juicer is agonizing. Right as I made my choice the place where I decided to buy it put another very good one on sale. I had it narrowed down to two, one horizontal and the other vertical. Then another horizontal very similar to my choice was discounted at considerable reduction. Finally, I decided on the original vertical one.

I watched scores of videos. No exaggeration. And they are long. And these two films. Both are available on Amazon Prime for free. They show people using the machines then drinking what they run through it and each time I crave a sip. I know what vegetables taste like but I cannot imagine drinking the combined juice.

What does it taste like?

There is a place that sells this juice 1/2 block away on the corner. I walked by their sign at least a hundred times. Too expensive. $7.00 for a 16 oz drink.

But now I know that contains the juice of a couple pounds of carrots, the equivalent in cucumber, kale, spinach, celery, ginger, lemon, and such. My attitude changed. Because of all the videos I see the pile of vegetable behind the two cup container of juice.

But even there, two or three day old juice is not as good as immediately fresh due to oxygenation even as the juice contains antioxidants. Time is not good for maximum nutrition.

The woman behind the counter answered all of my questions. She's an incredibly patient person eager to inform ready to help, personable, charming. Offered recommendations. I was struck by how beautiful she is. Presented immaculately. "You are a very beautiful woman."

She turned red. Her face crinkled. She stepped sideways and pulled into her clothes. I embarrassed her.

"I don't mean to flatter you (lie), but you really are beautiful. And you've been very helpful. Very kind."

It's a nice place. But I was really hoping they juiced the drinks right there. Instead, their kitchen is nearby. Too bad.

But now I have questions. The tablets have algae and I use that in cooking. Three types, actually. I really like seaweed but none of the videos show anyone using these elements. I think that I will.

Umami, dontchaknow.

It's a word.

The three types of juice that I bought are obviously well balanced, but as I drank them I kept thinking of ways to improve them with the vegetative elements that I like. I have a feeling I'm going to be really good at this. Nobody thinks of adding a pinch of salt. Duh!

And all nutritionists know that spinach has more nutrition available when it is cooked. But spinach is always juiced raw.

Now that I know more about juicers I wish my g/f would get one. Her little blender that she uses for her smoothies makes as much noise as my Skilsaw.

You'll be so healthy you'll be unbearable! ha ha ha.

But seriesly, our ancestors, I mean our stone age ancestors lived on the occasional kill and nuts and berries in between, if they were lucky. They semi-starved and it was enough. The didn't die young, by our standards, because of their diet. Quite the contrary. Semi-starving increases lifespan. But go ahead, be super-healthy if it makes you happy.

Maybe I'm missing it. How does the title "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" fit or work into the post?

After craving for a sip, how did the combined juice taste? Satisfying? Bland? Bitter?

Ok, I found the fat, sick and nearly dead guy on the video, watched him juice (in the back of his car) the unwashed vegetables bought at a roadside truck stand, viewed his gut and listened to his reasons for committing to a juice fast.

Right now, the 8Greens sound more appealing and intriguing to me than use of a juicer, but I'll remain interested in hearing how this story unfolds for the new juicer owner.

With the discovery (through an Amazon review) that 8Greens uses sorbital, the appeal of using it on my end suddenly swirled away. However, I'd still be interested to hear what led up to its presence and use in the ChipA house along with any noted results.

On a completely different note, Levity's Motherblog posted a back and forth that appeared on Facebook today between the hostess and natural born son on the technique of acting like another does not exist, along with mention of paralipsis... A figure of speech in which one pretends to ignore or omit something by actually mentioning it.

That, combined with the cloudy effervesce of an activated 8Great tablet which reminded me of the Homemade Ginger Ale Experiment brought to mind deborah's interest in the possibility of using a Soda Stream to create her own Special Sparkling Christmas Party Ginger Ale, and made me wonder how she's doing these days, and how the party planning is coming along?

Season's Greeting's deborah, and Happy Holiday Planning! Your effervescent sparkle paired with your written version of a moving pair of female lips is missed! ;)
