"Man divorces wife minutes after wedding for refusing to get off her phone"

“Following the marriage ceremony, the groom took his bride to the hotel where they had booked a room,” a relative said. “However, as soon as the bride was in the room, she kept using her mobile. Her groom tried to get closer with her and become more intimate, but he was shocked when she ignored him, not responding to his words and action. When he asked her about the reasons, she answered she was busy communicating with her friends who were congratulating her on her marriage on the mobile. The groom asked her to delay the messages, but she refused and became angry. When he asked her if her friends were more important than he was, the bride answered that they were,” the relative said, quoted by Saudi daily Al Watan on Tuesday.

He got out at the right time. If she was like that during the Honeymoon she'd be hell on wheels after a year or tow.

At least he didn't behead her, or give her a thousand lashes, so he must be a sweetheart of a guy, but, yeah, rc's right.

O you who believe: When you marry believing women and then divorce them before you have touched them, no period of idda (waiting) have you to count in respect of them: so give them a present and set them free in a graceful manner. S. 33:49

"In other words, if the marriage was not yet consummated, i.e. there was no sexual intercourse, there cannot be an unborn child. In this case, the woman does not have to observe the 'iddah period; and the husband who does not like to keep her (for whatever reason), does not have to pay her expenses for another three months, which would otherwise be his obligation (cf. S. 65:6-7)."

I bet because the marriage was no consummated the husband got back his dowry and only had to pay expenses related to the wedding. He did not have to pay her support for three months.

Actually pretty smart.
