OMG, he's proud to have shot down at least 5 Japanese. Obama should apologize to the Japanese and have Rahm rename the airport. Because Chicago has nothing more important to fix.
I am glad the United States still shows its appreciation to those who served to protect us.
Butch O'Hare's actions slowed the Japanese invasion of the South Pacific. He didn't invite war on anybody, rather war was brought to O'Hare and he fought back.
This is my country and I believe in her. I'll protect her against all enemies, foreign and domestic.
Said by Chappie James, fighter pilot who flew 101 combat missions in Korea and 78 combat missions in Vietnam. He was also the first black American to achieve the rank of four star general. He died of heart failure at the age of 58.
Chappie James was friends with the legendary Robin Olds. Here are some good quotes by him.
Thanks Lem. I lived in Chicago and have flown in and out of O'Hare @ least 100 times. I'm ashamed to admit I didn't know who O'Hare was. I sorta assumed he was some glad handing, Shanty Irishman Chicago politician.
Butch O'Hare's father was one of Al Capone's lawyers. He may have provided evidence that helped put Al away for income tax evasion. He was found shot in his car a week before Capone was released from prison.
Also at O'Hare there is a road ,Bessie Coleman drive, named for a Black woman stunt flyer who was killed when she was thrown from a plane where a wrench may have jammed the gears.
Midway airport was renamed after the Battle of Midway. Look for one day either of these airports renamed for Obama, hero of zilch.
Obama gets the Greyhound station.
