She's also insanely tall. But I have to admit she does a great job in a cameo role as a gossip columnist (Hedda Hopper?) in the Coen Brothers' Hail Caeser.
She has a delicate yet androgynous beauty. There are times from certain angles she looks really hot and there are times when she is a keep-out zone, but the one thing she is, is a diverse actress of what I think is excellent skill.

Don't be a h8ter, Nick.
The first time I saw Swinton, that I knew it was her, was The Deep End, a 'serious' movie I recommend. I had no idea she was so prolific. That's her in the idiotic Snowpiercer? lol no wonder that character worked. She's obviously not a movie snob.
Nick, I think of Swinton as a star. But like the following list, she is also a chameleon, which is the sign of a true actor, not a type. Generally speaking, stars like Bullock, Tom Hanks, and Helen Hunt play themselves.
Meryl Streep is the most overrated actress to ever be on screen. And, you may think of Swinton as a star, but I doubt SHE DOES. You, her agent, and her mom think of her as a star. Great character actors sometimes grow into stardom. Phillip Seymour Hoffman is an example. But, they still see themselves PROUDLY as character actors and remain willing to take small roles.

Good call, Lem! She does have a very interesting face!
Not beautiful or even pretty, but a strong English face.
Too much skull showing through. Gives me the willies.

She did a great job with the first chapter of Moby Dick.
She seems to be skilled at looking blank. Maybe she is acting.
Her range is off the charts.
Thanks Darcy.
Speaking of disappearing into the clouds, remember last year's big discovery of gravitational waves? Emily Litella.

Her face is like a canvas.
A couple of times I had no idea it was her until after the movie.
In Michael Clayton she was terrific.
Speaking of rapture, her performance as Blondie is memorable.
My fav.
Does she have a sibling named ";"? You know, the one with the colostomy bag.
She's a man baby!!!
Lem, Michael Clayton is the first time I saw Swinton. She is a superb character actress. I prefer character actors to stars.

Allow me to amend my list and add Doris Roberts, who just died @ age 90.
I have her logged in "burn after reading" and "michael clayton" DVDs but don't remember her.
I do suffer from all actresses look alike syndrome, except for Sandra Bullock, Ann Hathaway and Julia Roberts, who I can recognize.
Sandra Bullock has a look-alike in some DVD I saw recently but don't remember which. Oh, Kate Beckinsale in The Trials of Cate McCall.

rh, it's actually getting older syndrome. All the young singers and actresses look alike, and I can't remember their names until several years go by.

Kevin Spacey
Meryl Streep
John Cusack
