Being a critical thinker, I am suspicious and wonder if there isn't a clandestine campaign by a rival studio to slime this flick. It may be a horrible flick. The trailer sucks. But, the enormous response is suspect.
The black actress from SNL would have been a more convincing Nina Simone.
It doesn't matter. This is the year of the woman, dont'cha know? Women women women women women. Every issue is a woman's issue nowadays, even fighting ghosts. Lol.
That and the re-boot. But give me a fucking break. _Star Trek_ was a great re-boot. It can be done. But re-booting _Ghostbusters_ made no sense at all. Ergo, do a gender re-boot too on it and somehow the problem's solved! We feminized it, that will surely do the trick! Now we've magically turned it into a wonderful movie!
RITMO, Next will be transgender midgets. There's a midget reality TV show. But, they're hetero I believe.

Okay, so I watched the trailer. It's a dumb trailer. Whats-her-face (the fat chick) is usually pretty funny and I think it seems like a lot of her sort of humor ("Spy" was actually pretty funny and surprisingly good) but starting with a "lets tell everyone how smart each of these women are" just hit the wrong note. The original ghostbusters might have been smart, sort of, but they were all screw-ups on one level or another. This might be fun. It might be good. The trailer didn't sell it at all. And then the women talk about how they could do good... or something... not sure I want to watch it again to be sure. The original ghostbusters were not altruists. They were con-men, essentially, who happened to be right about the ghosts, mostly by accident. So... really smart women who are motivated to do good in the world.
Yeah... this will be *great*. /sarc
Synova, That's Melissa McCarthy and she is very funny. It's interesting to read some people saying McCarthy, who has lost 75lbs., is a traitor to fat people. Tying in w/ Chip's deaf post, some deaf people consider it traitorous for a deaf person to get cochlear implants. My thinking on the weight, it's a health issue. Losing weight is simply smart. On the deafness, I see it as a safety issue. Deaf people are more @ risk of injury/death due to accidents.
I'm basically watching gay porn to cleanse my visual palette from just watching this trailer.
Don't be shocked if you see a certain blogger in those gay porn flicks. Just sayn'. NTTAWWT
