How Does an Editor Think and Feel?

"People aren't machines, we need time to feel the emotion and if the movie doesn't give it to us, we don't believe it."

Editing is probably the most important part of film-making because it's the editors that take hodge podge of footage and build it into a cohesive story. You can sometimes literally see how an editor simply has screwed up a movie in that way and a lot of times it's on the director. Case in point? The new Star Wars movie. Dreadful editing.

I play it in the store some times. "Fool for Love" is one of my favorites.
