Obama moved to 'increase and accelerate' admission of Syrian refugees

"The Obama administration is moving to increase and accelerate the number of Syrian refugees who might be admitted into the United States by opening new screening outposts in Iraq and Lebanon, administration officials told Reuters on Friday."
The move comes after President Barack Obama pledged in September to admit an additional 10,000 Syrian refugees in 2016, torn by four years of civil war and disorder.
We are going in the wrong direction. Hope and pray is not too late.

It's always white supremicists holding the US government hostage in my experience.

This is limited to Hollywood action flicks, though.

Here is the deal people. If you live in a big city you are a target and should be afraid. And you should take measures to protect yourself and be prepared to be on your own if need be. I worry about you guys.

The terrorists want to make a big splash and make everyone afraid. The definition of terrorism. So the targets are on your backs.

Up in this back corner rural area where I live, we are not afraid of being attacked, ala Paris, by the muslims. We are small potatoes. Too few people to make a big deal. Kill a few rural rednecks in a place no one ever heard of? Big whoop. Nope. Besides, the muslims wouldn't like it here. Too far away from the cities, too cold in the winter and they would stand out like sore thumbs....too visible in a community of well armed conservative rednecks who also own backhoes and excavators to cover the.... ahem.... (I joke about the redneck part and backhoes... sort of)

However, what we are aware of is our dependence on a fragile infrastructure, being on the end of the supply line so to speak. Infrastructure being electricity, natural gas, propane supplies, food delivery to the grocery stores...even internet.

So....to the amusement of some people, we have a well stocked pantry, ample supplies and mucho in the way of self protection...(read, guns/ammo). We didn't do it because of ISIS or other political concerns, but rather to be prepared for natural disasters like earthquakes or volcanic eruptions that would isolate us from supplies and destroy the infrastructure.

Laugh if you like. But these ARE the most common occurrences in our area. The other is being snowed in for sometime without electricity. Something that occurs annually. Plus, it is really nice to just trundle on out to the pump house for that can of olives, bottle of wine, tuna, pasta, or whatever, instead of having to drive to the store. The stores in the "big" city where we do most of our shopping is 80 miles away, so we stock up out of convenience as well as buying in bulk to save costs.

So. Be prepared. Get a plan to remove yourself from the city. Get out of Dodge if you have to.....but you can't come here.

:-)

You are right, DBQ. The targets are big cities.

Obama is currently trying to shut down Guantanamo with the objective/plan to move the the inmates (terrorists) to Colorado prison(s).

Thus - painting CO with a huge target. & actually, painting a target on the small local communities near these remote prisons. He's such a smart man.

Steyn has an excellent article on this entitled The Barbarians Are Inside, And There Are No Gates.

The passages in Revelations that speak of Christians' being beheaded in the end times always seemed to me to be just a fancy way of saying martyred. It's a reality with the barbarians who are on jihad against all modernity.

Like DBQ says, rural America is safer than cities. Those monsters will pay a hefty price when they try to take the rural areas.

You are right. The rural communities surrounding the areas where the Gitmo prisoners might be housed would be in danger.

Obama doesn't care. In fact, I think that this IS his plan.

DENVER (Reuters) - About two-thirds of Colorado's sheriffs are expressing opposition to any plan by President Barack Obama to transfer Guantanamo Bay detainees to prisons in the state, saying such a move could imperil local security.

A letter to the White House that protested the possibility of moving foreign terrorism suspects held at the Guantanamo Bay U.S. naval base in Cuba was signed by 41 of the state's 64 sheriffs and released on Tuesday.

The Pentagon is expected to unveil a long-awaited plan this week detailing how it would close the facility despite fierce resistance in the Republican-led Congress.

The letter's author, Republican Larimer County Sheriff Justin Smith, said transferring any Guantanamo detainees to Colorado would pose a risk to people in the state.

"Recent history has shown us repeated examples around the globe of coordinated, violent attacks against prisons holding radical Islamic militants," the sheriffs' letter stated. "We strongly protest actions that might well add our state to the list of locations where such deadly attacks have occurred."

Obama will, of course, since he is a divine and powerful king, say "screw you, CO."

Good news is that Colorado hates Hillary. We have that, at least.

Colorado is a surprising choice, since it voted for the jug-eared Jesus twice. I'd expect he'd punish a red state for its blasphemy. It only goes to show that he has no loyalty except to his agenda to destroy America.

Obama chose Colorado for its facilities and its perceived political cooperation.

About the sudden urgent and increased and accelerated influx of middle east refugees on a personal level our challenge will be how open and accepting and willing we are to extend basic Christian values with a broad and welcoming smile and simultaneous silent "I'm watching you" sign.

Kidding.

I thought the story about German refugees not being able to handle their rural assignments was funny. They're an urban type of refugees. Some reason I find that hilarious. They need cities. Later report said they accepted.

I will NOT be worrying about this. Nothing I've ever been told to worry about has ever happened. They told me to duck and cover. They told me hair would grow on my palms. They told me I'd become addicted to drugs. They told me I had less than a year to live once. They told me I'd disappear in the Bermuda Triangle. They told me I'd kill myself flying hang gliders or small planes. They told me to fear terrorists on planes, in crowds, and everywhere. The most dangerous thing we do is get in an automobile, yet we keep doing it everyday. I won't worry about that either. Life is too short to waste any worrying.

There is no way for an individual to protect themselves from terrorism that is worth the effort. The odds of it happening to you are so low, that even if you deny yourself everything good in life in order to be safer, it won't lower the infinitesimally small odds you already have by any measurable amount. Someone somewhere will get killed by a terrorist, just like a deer will jump though someone's windshield, but it won't be you, and you can't do anything about either.

All you guarantee by being concerned about this is that you will diminish the life you have, and that is just what they want to happen. The only effective thing you can do to reduce terrorism is join the military or take away the pay off for the terrorists. Don't give them what they want. Fuck them. I'll be right here, having a fantastic, non-islamic pork eating, dog loving, woman respecting, worry-free life.

Very true, bago, well said.

DBQ, thanks, I needed that. I have a book I've been meaning to read. I think it's called Bug Out. It talks about the need of city dwellers to have an escape plan, on foot, out of the city to a safer place they've already scouted out. Bug out bags, etc. Then talks about recommended areas surrounding different cities.

I need to go fill my gas tank.

I've read books about surviving after TSHTF. When driving around town, I often imagine what I would do if right then I saw a mushroom cloud on the horizon, or meteor hit nearby. I'm one mile from the Pacific ocean surrounded by 11 million Los Angelenos hemmed in by mountains all around, and hundreds of miles of desert after that . I'm not getting out. If I was on the outskirts of town, I'd have a chance to get out before all traffic came to a dead and permanent stop, but near home, I'd just have to go to my house and fortify. I'm a runner, and my instinct in the face of trouble in a crowd is naturally to bug out. My truck has everything I need to bug out, and I carry a backpack at all times that has most of what I need to at least look my best for the apocalypse.

A lot of us, especially white males it seems, have this innate need to think about and prepare for this stuff. It's like an inborn obsession. I've had it all my life.

I have firearms at work and at home, but very few people here can legally carry a gun in your car, unless you have it unloaded, and locked away separate from you and the ammo. Of course a lot of people carry guns illegally all the time here, but I'm not taking that chance. I'd go to jail, and never be allowed to own a gun again. Not worth it, but I really wish I could have one with me, just in case. I know the bad guys have them.

Mentioned this on previous post here this am but MY BELOVED New Orleans just received the first boatload of our share of the 10,000 Syrian "refugees" this Friday. (Great timing, eh?) Besides the fact we still haven't fully recovered from hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Gustav and the BP Gulf Oil Spill yet and have a severe housing shortage, a top three national murder rate and soaring crime rate in general what could POSSIBLY go wrong by throwing a few thousand Syrians into the mix? Thanks, Obama..

(PS: Where are our Navy's submarines and their torpedos when they're needed?)

Bago has the right idea. Don't be afraid. Don't let this stop you from living your life. We are all just minutes away from a disaster that can irrevocably change or end your life. This is just what it is.

However, there is nothing wrong with being aware of your situation and being prepared. Just in case. And if nothing happens, oh well, you were prepared and have some extra stuff :-)

Like Chip, I too was amused at the "refugees" inability to deal with the rural life. They thought it was a punishment to be installed in a beautiful resort in Germany. Too many trees, not enough entertainment, poor cell phone reception to boot. Boo hoo poor babies.

Man they would HATE to live in our area. Good thing too because we would hate to have them live here also.

@ BAGO...When TSHTF....I don't think it is going to matter if you have a carry permit for your guns. Just sayin'

@ Deborah.

I did several posts on my, now inactive, food blog about disaster prep and supplies we have on hand. Of course, because of our rural area, we have probably way more than someone in the city would have. But it gives you and idea.

http://recipejunkie.blogspot.com/2007/05/contents-of-armegddon-pantry.html The contents have changed a bit since we are eating and using the stuff....but basically the same.

We have also recently purchased a 24 ft older camp trailer that is fully equipped with propane/electric refrigerator and hot water tank, stove, oven, heater. Battery power for lights and water pressure in the holding tank when we go dry camping. If we are somewhere where we have electrical hook up, then AC and microwave and itty bitty flat screen. Other than perishable items (food) We keep it supplied with pretty much everything we need to pick up and go camping on a whim, including a bbq and briquettes. We have many propane tanks that we could take with us if we had to "bug out". But, barring a lava flow, we would just stay put.

, it's kind of a mental exercise and a cozy emotional payoff
Yes, it is :-)

I read, somewhere, an article by a man who survived the Serbian/Croat war and he said the top most crucial things they wanted when they were homeless and fleeing the war were matches, toilet paper, soap, good shoes and of course some small tools. Dry matches...very important!

This really happened? That's kind of hilarious. Almost removes any doubt as to where that culture's at. WTF. Who the hell would rather live in a dry desert dirt field where you maybe can grow a palm tree or two at the most. People who have nothing better to do than fight, whine or bitch, apparently.
