Mechanicsburg, Penn

I like the name of the place. Never heard it before. I'd expect there to be a lot of mechanical types given the name.

Trump had disputes with a city's fire marshal limiting his crowd to 1,000 even in a space that can easily hold double that number seated at tables, the space sectioned in half with a curtain for Trump and still plenty of room to mill around while more people than that are left outside in the heat after waiting for hours. Trump suspects and accuses dirty politics while the fire marshal is constrained by regulation. The capacity limitation might have to do with egress capability as much as area capacity. The facts are not clear. [trump, fire marshal]

His campaign must get in the habit of booking venues with clearly stated capacity. While his point is made that more people are disappointed than satisfied, this is a losing argument.

But not so at Mechanicsburg.

These Trump crowds are contrasted with Hillary crowds that number far fewer. She is seen speaking to about a hundred or so people gathered intimately compared to this.

For comparison This video shows her supporters, some 200 or so with professionally printed signs and herself onstage with helpers. The video gives a glimpse of the crowd in Columbus Ohio  July 31, 2016 and the rest is her speech.

Hillary's campaign is not grassroots, not one bit, it is top down, it is corporate. Trump's campaign is truly grassroots running against GOP as well as DNC and most of corporate media.

She's keeping it small for a reason, they say.

Next time she seizes, they don't want half the world making a video of it.

Mechanicsburg has a very large highway exit sign on I-81, if you're commuting between NJ and Ohio on the southern route (I-70, I-76, I-81, I-78). The autumn southern route has yellow trees, the northern route has red trees.

It's a mistake to switch to back roads. You learn to appreciate how many turns and up and downs there are between exits on the PA Turnpike.

Great analysis, Chip. Even in Madison, I see hardly any Hillary lawn signs. Lots of Bernie. I truly believe if the DNC didn't rig their primary it would be Bernie v Trump.

Great travelogue, rhhardin.

Hate to say it but Trump is really blowing it by being unfocused. He gets up [for example] and picks apart Bloomberg's DNC speech. He needs to move on and go on offense not be on defense all the time. Hammer home that the same assholes [Hillary, Biden, Feinstein, Shumer,Mccain yes throw in a couple dinosaur Repubs too etc] have been in DC for 30-40 years and say "if you are happy with the way things are, then vote for Hilary. If not, vote for the outsider, Trump".

My friend, who lives in NYC, designs the band and color guard shows for Mechanicsburg High School.

Mechanicsburg has one of the best winter guard in the country. Google them-the shows are fierce!

Do I wish that Trump was more focused? Yes, I do. However, right now, he's the only choice for me.

Me too Allen but, in certain cases, he needs to take the high road and only punch up not down.

AllenS said...

If only the two of us could tell him that, AJ.

Actually, he's doing what the Lefties have been doing for years.

Throw as much at the wall as you can and see what sticks.

High road doesn't always work, in case you haven't noticed. Taking the high road often gets us a Democrat PUS.

I am heartened to see him attack muslims, dead or alive, and if only he would point out how far the muslim brotherhood has infiltrated the upper reaches of our government then he would be doing even better.

This is a minor incident being blown out of proportion by his enemies - muslims, democrats, repblicans - but I repeat myself. This is like the time he mocked how ugly Carly is, or mentioned that the Meghan was bleeding out of her eyes - he is what he is.

ndspinelli mentioned lawn signs. In NW IA they're all Trump so far. I've yet to see a Hillary sign and the Bernie signs are all gone.

Trump: "We are going to punch through the media."

And he will. Enough already with the anxiety, he's doing great.

I saw Junior denounce him as a cad and a bounder yesterday. But, lessee, we've had the WaPo give Cacklepants 4 Pinnochios and taking money from an IS sponsor.

Yeah, I can see why they want to change the subject.

PS Fun fact: Assange says he can prove Hillary armed IS in Syria.

It's difficult to talk about Trump because all a detractor has to do is bring up Khan and the disables guy Trump mocked and any discussion after that is impossible.

I had to unfollow him on Twitter, I don't need the hassle.

edutcher said...

And this could get ugly.

God willing.

Turns out Khan's old law firm is in the WikiLeaks emails. What, dare we hope, might they tell us.

This whole "Kahn job" is a bunch of Malarkey as Biden would say (a bunch of BS). But what is done is done--he can only try to do better in the future. Trump walked into a trap. If he really wants to win this thing, he needs to stop making it easier for the media and Democrats to lie about him.

Punch at the media and Hillary and don't get distracted.

Pour yourself a cupper and have a good read into the nefarious activities of a criminal syndicate, collusion between media, their intermarriages, their offspring, their nepotism the problems that arise from grabbing money and throwing it at unworthy agencies.

This isn't so much an election between two grand parties anymore, this is an uprising of the unrepresented (Bernie followers and Trump supporters) long abused by their representation. This is a real existential fight that we're in against a largely unelected ruling elite that takes care of their own first and foremost at the expense of everyone else. This is the people rising up and burning this motherfucker down. I meant to say BTMFD just now. This is our ruling elite fighting for their lives. It's our duty to make sure they're dead.

Notice it's Trump against All democrats, Trump against GOP, and Trump against media, and I do imagine he is going to prevail with the help of all those people out there thoroughly disgusted with what they know.

And they cannot lie their way out anymore

Khan is prime example. They tried their big gun reindeer game and Trump exposed them for the pure shit operatives that they are. Keep talking Khan, tell us how much you want to escape the limelight through nationally televised interviews having tossed your bomb. He expected fireworks that burn only one person and party. Too bad, Double Douche, you stepped right in it yourself.

I like Trump very much Trump lashing back and sticking with the lashing. I like his apparent obsession, his apparent thin skin. He's not going to take any of this shit that they sling.

Do you honestly prefer a more presidential type, a personality like Bush Jr. who lays down and lets them roll over considering it all beneath his position? It's not. Hit up, hit down, hit sideways, whatever. Republican base chose their gladiator to rip GOP a new asshole and now with Wikileaks DNC is torn asunder.

But the crowd sizes concern me. They are not a good basis for comparison. Not a very good basis that is. Because Bernie also got huge crowds and a good portion of those will dutifully fall in line as they do. They're almost never fully discouraged. Only temporarily discouraged. They rarely experience episteme such they would change their entire world view. But the Bernie betrayal just might be such.

The worrisome part is any given televangelist attracts that kind of crowd and they do it every Sunday. Now their crowds are truly something. Those people are real believers. Large as Trump's crowds, they do not match the crowds of well known Christian preachers.

And that takes the air out of the glee at comparing crowd sizes.

Christ Almighty, you really don't get it, do you?

This is about setting up a poster child who will be inviolate any time Trump brings up putting a hold on Moslem immigration.

And Daddy Khan, who stands to lose big bucks if it is enacted, will invoke his poor dead hero son and ask the American people how can they be so cruel and heartless.

If you can't see that, you need to sit in the remedial Politics row with April.

"I like Trump very much....."

Hold the presses. Chipaholic just wrote "I like Trump very much!" Do you know what this means? It means Trump will win. Not because Chipaholic declared that he likes Trump. Because Chip is a bien pensant and they (think of Chip times millions) ALWAYS decide presidential elections.

Trump may have a big edge on actual live American citizens who speak English and care the issues..

But Hillary is WAY ahead in vote fraud, felons, people who can't speak English and those who'll vote democrat for a little "walking around" money.

Advantage Hillary.
