I went to the Albuquerque Botanical Garden today for the cherry blossoms at the Japanese Tea Garden. I don't know if these are cherry blossoms or not, but they're pretty. I've got a couple more pictures here.
Perhaps a variety of crabapple tree? We have one of the variety you show in the neighborhood. Just one. The blossoms look like little roses. It's the most divine spectacular tree in spring. Well, it used to be - over the years early snows and harsh winds have taken whole portions of branches down. Oh but I stand and marvel at it.
Cherry blossoms make me think of D.C., and D.C. makes me think of my mom's high school graduation. It was the tradition in her little town for graduates to take a trip to D.C. That year the bus broke down. I guess re-scheduling hadn't been invented yet.
For years I've wanted to take her, and it should probably be this year, as she's not getting any younger. She'd have to go about in a wheelchair, but that would make it more fun, I think :)
Be aware that the Tidal Basin is a freakin' mob scene at cherry blossom time - I remember seeing tourists walking around with major branches covered with blossoms. Those idiots had ripped the limbs right off the trees and were so proud of their accomplishment that they paraded around with their ill gotten trophies.
Deborah, D.C. has wonderful systems for handicap access. Special busses that drop off the wheelchair user and her party at the accessible ramps and elevators. Bypassed lines. I don't remember what all, but I do remember my cousin lining up what sounded like VIP tour for her wheelchair bound mom and 3 kids. All free. Cuz has mad research skills and lined it up before she ever arrived. So it's out there, you just have to find it.

Very pretty, Synova. I've never been to a botanical garden, but have wanted to for some time now.
Were those blossoms on a cherry tree? If so, there's your clue.

Tourist - feh!
Small town, eh? Woodstock?
Eastern Ohio.
When it's cherry blossom time in Orange, New Jersey,
We'll make a peach out of a pear,
Oh honeydew be mine, why don't we cantaloupe...
That's a Danny Kaye classic skit song.
Who's Danny Kaye? Look it up!
All I can say for certain, Sixty Grit, is that it's not an apple. :)

Thanks, Christie. That's very good to know. Mom is not handicapped, but no way could she take walking all over.
