Houston hummingbird

One of my brothers moved to Houston. He helped one of our nephews in the first grade and living in another state set up a motion activated camera connected to a computer, then set up one himself at his new place. Apparently it's aimed at his wife's hummingbird feeder.

I'm jealous of people with hummingbirds around all the time. It bums me out that they have these little treasures and they're not 100% into it. Although I admit keeping a feeder filled and cleaned is a commitment and setting up a camera shows a measure of interest.

And I'm thinking, wow, the bark on that tree trunk looks familiar.

Like shingles. As if you can peel them off. And they make climbing the trees uncomfortable. You'd think they'd give you good handholds but they don't really help, and so far as nailing slats for steps to a treehouse, the nails go into the thick bark and not the tree. Bugs can take over the whole thing.

I could be wrong, and probably am, but it looks like the pecan tree in our back yard in Louisiana except 1/4 the circumference. That tree was very old. In the final decades of its productive life.
