Chihuly glass sculpture at Victoria and Albert Museum

They call it a chandelier while it has no lights.

And just as I was reading on Amusing Planet, going through the photos and thinking, "Oh man, that's gotta be a bitch to dust ..."

No fan of modern art, I, but that really is spectacular.

I like the contrast between the brightly colored glass thingy and the old stonework building. Chihluly has been very successful monetizing the brightly colored glass object.

There are nice glass sculptures in the lobby of the Bellagio Hotel in Vegas. Not quite as ornate as this.

Went to a Chihuly exhibit at the Denver Botanical Gardens a few years back. It was lovely. Really spectacular. Went twice.

The second visit was at night in the winter, and I was a little disappointed that the glass wasn't lit up from within. It was still glorious, but what a missed opportunity. I think it's time for the Chihuly crew to think about light from within.

Yeah, the lobby of the Bellagio is like being inside a Chihuly. He's from Tacoma and has a museum there with a big sculpture over the highway. Pretty cool. Convenient for gifts. I'm told he's a bit of a wanker in person, though.
