ESPN is losing subscribers at an astonishing rate and they don't care because their SJW agenda is more important than money!

The Cost of SJW Convergence by Vox Day August 6. 2016
ESPN is paying it, having lost 4 million subscribers and $350 million in the last year:
In the past five years ESPN has lost 11,346,000 subscribers according to Nielsen data.

If you combine that with ESPN2 and ESPNU subscriber losses this means that ESPN has lost over a billion dollars in cable and satellite revenue just in the past five years, an average of $200 million each year. That total of a billion dollars hits ESPN in the pocketbook not just on a yearly basis, but for every year going forward.

It's gone forever.

That's not just bad, this is downright cataclysmic.

And it's getting worse.

In the past year ESPN lost 4.159 million subscribers, that's another $350 million in lost revenue across the ESPN family of networks.

Now, tell me again how all the cultural programming and SJWfication and ideological propaganda in the entertainment media and the advertising industry is just business. Tell me again how it's not driven by ideological fanatics, but hard-nosed businessmen just ruthlessly chasing a buck the best way they know how.

And then I'll explain to you, very slowly and in words of not more than five syllables, that those hard-nosed, buck-chasing "businessmen" are observably losing literal billions as they continue to tear away at the foundations of Western Civilization: Christianity, the family, the rule of law, and the white race in the name of Tolerance, Equality, Progress, Inclusiveness, and Diversity.

I read that too, and it wasn't due to SJW, although I wish that was the reason. Rather, it's mostly demographics as cable subscribers are dying off and younger viewers don't go with cable much. Still, I don't mind the preachy leftists losing their audience for whatever reason.

Doesn't surprise me.

These guys are more concerned about PC than RBI.

They may be trying, but the loss of all that money says they're being rejected where possible. It's like college; why get preached at and have your grade, and maybe future, dependent on a bigoted Lefty prof when you can get the degree (or certification) online?

That may be partly true, owing to the convenience of streaming, but it's also got a lot to do with cost and young guys faced with the need to cut somewhere.

Look. SJW's are loud. They can get real people fired. Real people do not want to risk their jobs. It doesn't really matter if not a single one of the mob with their pitch forks and torches actually watched ESPN.

I'm all for being hard-line on equality and for not allowing racism on your staff or offering some public scorn toward racism within the sports world, but it's not racism is it, when someone uses an unfortunate word, or even a completely normal word that someone decides to take offence to. It's not racism at all. What it is is an opportunity to hector people for sins they are not guilty of.

I'm not into sports but I do understand why people *are* into sports. I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with religion or politics or social causes or being told you're guilty of something you're not guilty of. It's about competition and not knowing who will win. It's about cheering your team or your champion. It's about a primal human need to demonstrate who is strongest and who is king of the hill... and do so in fundamentally positive ways rather than blood, tooth and claw. You know that cavemen had rock throwing contests. You know they did. They can't have not.

I'd chunk if it was an option.

It only works if the company lets it. Some really are that stupid or that craven, but ESPN seems to really endorse this stuff. I saw a piece this week about one of their guys defecting to Fox Sports because he was so tired of the PC.

We're going to cut the cord. My wife likes Chinese TV - but can get that on the Net now. Almost everything else is crap. As my brother said, "500 channels and nothing worth watching".

I am thinking about it too RC. I use cable for sports and news. But FOX news has jumped the shark and I am starting to have enough with sports. Except for football and baseball. I prefer baseball on the radio anyway as I listen all the time while doing something else. Pretty much football is all I would miss. So if I can live stream the Giants and the playoffs I can dump cable altogether and save a shitpot full of money every week.

The one million meter belly flop.

Everyone should dump their cable. Team owners need eyeballs and if those eyes aren't watching cable they'll have to move their product to OTA TV.

I grew up with 5 channels,3 were network,1 was independent, showing sports, reruns and syndicated shows, and one was pre PBS educational tv. There was more than enough programming then. In our area now we have over 90 channels and sub channels available Over the Air. That's enough to swallow any worthwhile cable programming.
