What's your go-to homemade "lazy" meal?

Reddit top voted comments...

Three granola bars.

Microwave a hot pocket (bacon egg and cheese) for 2 minutes. Go sit on the couch. Forget about the hot pocket in the microwave. Go to bed hungry 4 hours later. Wake up. Open the microwave to heat up yesterday's coffee. See hot pocket. Scoot it over and put coffee next to it.

A hot dog. Might even pop it in the microwave for 20 seconds if I'm feeling ambitious.

Kinda lazy: grilled cheese
Lazy: ramen
Super lazy: cereal
Super duper lazy: order food

Microwave a hot dog and wrap it in a warm corn tortilla. Tastes a bit like poverty, but still delicious.

4 slices of peanut butter toast.

Most of these aren't nearly lazy enough. If I have to use the stove and cook something, it's already too much effort.

I was thinking something like some chips (more likely) or fresh fruit (more healthy).

Lazy pizza bread.

Slice of favorite bread - lightly toasted in the toaster. (I use Whole Foods fresh baked sourdough)
Warm some jarred marinara sauce however you want to warm it.
Butter the toast lightly and sprinkle garlic salt on top of butter. (Penzy's garlic salt is the best..) Spread warmed marinara sauce on top of that. slice some fresh mozzarella, layer on top of the sauce. (a little fresh basil is nice too) Stick in microwave for 20 seconds.
Done.
Add a quick fresh lazy salad tossed with oil and vinegar for greens.

For ultra lazy garlic bread: Toast a slice of bread, butter, & sprinkle Penzy's garlic salt. Done.

Cold cut or peanut butter sandwich. Fruit in season. Right now I'm groovin' on cherries, I eat them on the way home from the store, spitting pits out the window. Just did that 10 minutes ago. At home, spit the pits in trash can or sink. Also currently eating peaches over the sink. I'm sure women eat food over the sink, but not as often as dudes.

Rene, There is a Penzy's store in Madison, just a few blocks from where Althouse lives. Never went in it. Should have I?

I would like to know Trump's lazy meal. And, as I type this, I just thought of something. Trump is our first divorced President, and he's twice divorced. The MSM won't even give him credit for that!! The MSM used to obsess on when we would cross that barrier and elect a divorcee. We get a twofer and crickets. Has anyone here read or seen anything in the news about Trump being a ground breaker on this?

Microwaved meals is the go-to lazy meal for me.
Lem-You do not have a microwave?

nd-I think the MSM assumed that our first divorced president would be a Dem. Hilariously, they're both Rs. The Dem hunger for power combined with the fact that the women probably lose all interest in actual sex from being near the men means that Dems stay married for longer. It's a sacred bond, y'all (in for a penny, in for a pound).

ND - Yes.
Their garlic salt is so tasty.
As I understand it, Penzy's is a known liberal outfit. i think they pitched a fit when Trump won. (not sure) Whatever.

There are 2 spices I buy from Penzy's

Garlic salt
Fox Point seasoning

The Fox Point seasoning mixed with sour cream - boom - super tasty dip.

I think Penzy's is a Wisconsin based company. The store in Boulder closed. Difficult to sell enough spices when there is A) a Savory Spice shop right around the corner, and B) Pearl Street Mall high rent.

Penzy's is available on-line and that is the bulk of their business. In my case, I buy on-line or make a trip to old town Arvada.

tortilla chip and hot salsa. Simple, filling, easy. The other is microwave popcorn, just slightly well done.

How many here eat more than one main course type of meal per day? In other words a full meal. If I've had a full meal at lunch, my usual pattern, I don't want to eat another full meal five or six hours later. So for me it's just a roll and coffee or a bagel and coffee for breakfast, a full meal at lunch and noshing in the evening. Are potato chips healthy if you dip them in apple sauce?

My favorite breakfast meal --

Add some butter to small nonstick fry pan
add beaten egg, let cook for a very short time
add some chopped ham
add some chopped green pepper
add a chopped green onion
add shredded Italian and sharp cheddar cheese
cover and cook on low heat

Slice a tomato up and add some salt
Place a large flour tortilla in the microwave and heat on high for 24 seconds

Slide egg and ingredients on tortilla, and fold like it's a burrito

Eat

Great hearty breakfast, Allen. We get some superb breakfast burritos in San Diego at little taco stands.

AllenS said...

Nick, it works out better if the egg and stuff is like an omelet, instead of some scrambled egg added.

I should also have said that when sliding the egg and ingredients on the tortilla, you need to fold the egg in half. Easier to wrap the tortilla around it then.

I'll try the technique, Allen. The one problem w/ Mexicans cooking eggs is they cook the shit out of them. I think it's a cultural thing. But, they're good cooks and can be trained to cook them properly.

Just finished mine about a half hour ago. Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm Goooooooooooood!
