What is the most depressing truth that you've had to accept?

Reddit top voted comments....

Loyalty to a company means nothing to the company.

Elderly people really once were the same excited child I was not all that long ago.

Life will never be fair. You can do the right thing for your entire life and still get shit on around every corner.

Just because you think someone is "the one", doesn't mean they think you are.

There are people in this world who are going to live ruined, miserable lives they don't deserve, and there is really nothing I can do about it.

I peaked in high school, or maybe early college at best.

I thought I could be happy being alone.

Sometimes old friends don't want to reconnect.

This is one of those questions best treated lightly. On the other hand if you wanna spill the beans...have at it!

John James Audubon was a ridiculously extreme hunter and a somewhat disturbed taxidermist and a second rate illustrator and not a naturalist bird lover with outstanding memory and mad painting skills as presumed.

Oh, how it burns all over again just thinking about it. If that's growing up, then I never wanted it.

And Margaret Sanger was essentially correct, proof being today's Democrat Party.

Some years back I tried to reconnect with a friend from work haven't seen since the 90s. Did not respond.

Recently a few old friends of mine tried to reconnect with me and I rebuffed them.

Getting old sucks. Nothing new under the sun, but slowing falling apart - it sucks.

Wait until you hit 70.

I found old age to be a pleasant surprise. Happiness is the cumulative effect of small comforts and conveniences, and so many have accumulated since I was young.. Life is so much easier now. All my life I had this inchoate desire to sleep on a posturpedic adjustable mattrsss, but I could never verbalize this desire because they had not yet been invented. Life can never be all bad if you're laying down on an adjustable mattress.

You have a good point there.

As Maurice Chevalier noted, getting old isn't so bad once you consider the alternative.

That I believe I'm still attractive to women and I'm not. They'll smile at you, but in reality, you know they are thinking ewwww.
