Attkisson: I Saw Ex-Media Bureau Chief Urge Journalists To Defeat Trump

NewsmaxAward-winning journalist Sharyl Attkisson attended an “awards dinner” where she witnessed her peers discuss in detail how they need to work together and “outside” of the box in order to help bring down Donald Trump.

The Mainstream Media had their minds made up to support Hillary two years ago... Do any of you remember this?...

This entire election is a farce. It's all been decided by the global elites, The media, & the Clintons and their pals.

The clintons mave made 150 million dollars since they left office. for what? Talking.. access.

It's all corrupt.

Going by what Sheryl is saying, actively engaging in ways to undermine Trump, would be going against their own professional code... ergo corruption.

The media is actively crushing Trump. It is corrupt as hell.

And Trump does not even recognize what he has to do to win. Trump does not even recognize the need to GOTV? Romney lost was in large part over Dems getting their voters out in a coordinated way in swing states.

Nothing is decided if the people come out to vote. It only works if people give up and stay home.

That's what Ms Atkisson is telling the world. Some are lost causes, some can be motivated.

Clearly, their dead broke days are behind them.

Serious question: Are the NeverTrumpers generational?

Consider Rinse rallies with The Donald in PA and Daughter of Darth says rally 'round Trump.

Not according to the mike Malice School of J.

Remember when the Choom Gang took office, we saw articles about how newsrooms' favorite topic was how can we help Pissy?

Same now. Fame when the Ozark Mafia was in. For that matter, same during Camelot.

If CNN is taking a beating, clearly, they are only trying to crush him.

And why would you take a PJM story seriously? I mean it, E.

A week or so ago, I linked a story how the Trump campaign has hired the firm that won Brexit for that very purpose.

You're getting like all the old fogies who believe everything they see in the 6 O'Clock News.

Besides, just because Trump says something doesn't mean it isn't a little disinfo for the gullible.

I think they have overplayed their hand. In other elections the low information voter could be influenced and form their perceptions of the candidate by the skewed view of the media.

The difference this time out is that Trump is very familiar to these people because of his television appearances for decades. So they can't sell a bill of goods that he is Hitler. They know him already. So this constant drumbeat of outrage will be tuned out. If everything is a horrible catastrophe then nothing is a horrible catastrophe. You can only cry Wolf so many times. Especially if you have been petting the dog for years.

You can't go by the old rules. Trump has turned them on their head.

Evi L. Bloggerlady said...

Troop, You're right, Trump is not Hitler. And the media attempt to go over the top on that will not play. But Trump is not looking like he is in control. That's bad. It is worse than calling him Hitler, they are Jeb Bushing Trump. This is what they did to Mitt Romney four years ago.

Trump had a difficult path in the first place with the electoral college math and could not afford to make many mistakes. I do not see this dynamic changing, barring something big happening between now and November (really October). The swing states are all going Crooked Hillary's way and Trump looks weak in reacting to each new news cycle.

It is Sad. Low Energy.

I would love you to explain where I am wrong on this. As much as I know polls can be BS, this is not a Brexit situation. I hope Trump can turn this around. But it is just reactive stuff behind the news cycle. I do not see any signs of Trump changing things.

ndspinelli said...

Evi, I wish we could fast forward to November and get this over with. I don't know WTF will happen between now and then but it is turned into a fucking Reality TV show.

Trooper York said...

It is simple Evi. Look at the primaries. I know I know you want to dismiss it and say that was then and this is now. But the primaries had their own dynamic and Trump overturned the Apple Cart. He didn't spend the money on bogus organizations and get out the vote bullshit and consultants. Jeb Bush spent all the money on consultants and commercials. Ted Cruz had the fantastic ground game and organization that would get him wins in all these primaries. It didn't happen because Trump did something different. He engaged on every interview in every opportunity in normal term without speaking like a politician. Regular people understood him. They understand what he is saying. The spin that the press is pushing is not something they would buy.

There is a maxim in military history that generals always want to fight the last war. That is what the media and the pundits are doing.

This is exactly right. That is what the media is trying to do. To depress the vote and discourage the Trump voters. That is what the constant non-stop trolling of pro-Hillary types like April are trying to do. They will come here day after day carping and picking at nits.

Most people are not paying attention. Certainly not on a hot July weekend. They are at the beach. Or the Lake. With Family and Friends. They will start paying attention in October. When the surprises from Hillary's emails will be coming out. Watch and learn.

One thing all the campaign managers knew was that Trump had a high floor, roughly 3/8 across the board. Don't what Hillary's is, but it's gotta be very uneven.

Jeb!'s, Rubio's, and Cruz' people knew they were done a year ago this time.

I have the feeling we've got something similar here, that's why the Goebbelsian hysteria.

PS Note those words feeling and similar. I can't document it, but there's a logic to it.

Evi L. Bloggerlady said...

Troop, a primary voting process is different than a general election. Primaries are a fraction of the voters (that is true for both parties).

That is where you and ed are fighting the last war. You think those primary battles with Ted Cruz (I liked him, but damn if he doesn't have a gift of turning people off) are the same as the general election battle. While Hillary is not popular, Trump has even bigger negatives against her.

What you describe as "get out the vote bullshit" is getting those voters in the middle out who will support you. Hillary's support is entrenched and so is Trump. It is winning those winnable votes in the middle that will determine the outcome. It is marketing. That is how Obama beat Romney (Obama did it well, Romney's Orca Program died on the beach). Romney had a failed plan (and granted repeating that would be a mistake). But what worries me is Trump seems to have no plan (and is starting already to sound like he is going down and making excuses). I would be less concern if Trump was not losing market share each week since the nomination. I would love to believe this is rope a dope, but so far it looks just dopey (on Trump's part). Hillary is getting a pass and letting the media do her dirty work. And even if there is a big email dump in September and October, the media is giving Crooked Hillary a pass.

Now I get about depressing the vote and no one is paying attention in August. But I am seeing bad signs that Team Trump is not got its act together for September. Voting starts BTW in a lot of States in early October. This election has to be won in the four weeks after Labor Day.

Maybe I am wrong.

I concur the media is trying to finish him off now because of the potential threat.

But I am worried about the rumors of infighting and the confused messaging and handling of things by Team Trump. And you know something, I suspect you are a bit worried about it too.

Trooper York said...

There are always rumors of infighting and dissension in the Republican ranks. Remember McCain and Palin? That is the media's stock in trade. Now you have a double amount because so many of the so called "conservative" commenters are invested in Trumps defeat. So they will make shit up. Don't you think that Joe Scarborough is making shit up?

The only way Trump wins is if he goes over the heads of the media directly to the people. The people who are concern trolling don't impress me. They want Trump to change and become Mitt Romney. He is supposed to eat Democratic shit with a smile.

I will give you an example. The debates. Trump is going to smack Hillary around and she is going to be confused and addled. This is what she had done with any questions posed to her lately. It is why she will not have a press conference. Now once Trump does that the moderators are going to try and save her like Candy Crowley did for Obama. Trump will not let them do that. He will smack down the media moderators. In a blunt and crude fashion. That is the crux of the matter. If people want to buy into the corruption of Hillary then she will win. If they listen to what Trump is actually saying I think he wins easily.

It is all before us. Nothing that has gone on so far means jack shit.

Troop, You're right, Trump is not Hitler.

No, Hitler had more ambition and follow-through. And he hated people by race, not class.

But Trump is really the first nearly Western politician in a country as powerful as the U.S. to successful, and probably intentionally employ all of Hitler's rhetorical devices and political tactics.

You are never going to be without those in any campaign.

It's how they're handled.

Supposedly, Cacklepants can't make a decision or settle a dispute to save her life (which she may have to).

Trump's been handling them as part of his work for 40 years.

Trooper York said...

Actually that is not true. I can think of many examples of people who used some of these rhetorical devices and political tactices. Start with Tom Watson. William Jennings Bryan.
For sure Huey Long who was Hitler's contemporary. And of course FDR who stole many of Hitlers moves from the CCC which is Hitler Youth with a smile to setting up camps for undesirables.

Trump is not unique or different in the full scope of American History. The media is trying to "other" him.

Trooper York said...

If Huey Long had not been assassinated he would have been elected President.

You'd be surprised.

First, I am not disagreeing with you (I am hardly surprised you're the one of first to catch it - kudos). Trump gets the show biz element down better than anyone else ever - certainly.

But I remember a documentary (either just before or during the '76 campaign) and it showed a couple of Dolf's stump speeches wire-to-wire with subtitles.

Many of his rhetorical devices are standard fare among ordinary politicians at every level. This especially includes the Demos.

What most people don't realize is the Josef Goebbels was the first political consultant and Heinrich Hoffmann - Dolf's phtographer and Eva Braun's employer - was the first true media consultant. Between the two of them, just about everything they conceived is SOP in political campaigning.

Don't mistake my criticism as all is doom.

Trump can win this thing, but I am worried he won't do what is necessary to win. But there is no point in discussing it. ed thinks Trump is brilliant on all things. Troop I suspect sees the handwriting on the wall, but is correct we do not want enthusiasm to go down or things are guaranteed doomed.

I am not sure I would be touting Trump's Goebbels-Hoffman campaign strategy. But so far I am not seeing his campaign coming together. Every sign points to disfunction. Other than Mike Pence. I think Pence is doing a hell of a job as Veep.

Trooper York said...

The handwriting I see on the wall is a Trump victory. I have seen it from the beginning. So do a lot of other people. That is why you see the frenzy on the other side. If it is such a sure thing why are they freaking out. Why is every little thing he says have to be twisted to prove he is Hitler/Stalin and Pol Pot all rolled into one.

I want Trump to stay Trump. I want he to go with his populist internet based campaign. I don't want to do it the way it has always been done. That has lost it for the Republicans every time.

It is time for a change. When Trump says that in his final speech at the debate that is going to resonate with a lot of people. Just as "Are you better off now than you were four years ago" resonated with a lot of voters. Who made the risky choice. He picked the stupid, dullard, dangerous entertainer. Watch and see.

Again, I'm saying it's awfully early to pack up and go home. And I do think E reads the media and takes their propaganda seriously way too much.

I've never said Trump is brilliant in all things, but I do think he's got a game going that's a different paradigm. I also think he's got some pretty smart people working for him.

If you recall, things weren't looking too good in March, but Manafort's counsel was, "Let the guy hang himself". I think they've got a similar game in mind here. But, God, I wish I had all the details.

Don't you think every once in a while I see something that feels like a block of ice in the pit of my stomach? These people are excellent propagandists. If I thought I could trust it, I'd love to see him up 20, but that could be a trap, too.

Sometimes you just have to have a little faith and soldier on. Sometimes a little sermon from the Rev Dr York helps. I say he's right about sticking with the hot hand. I also say stuff turns around in a hurry. I've seen elections swing 180 in a day. Sometimes the day Before the election.

I've said this election will be event-driven and I still believe that. I also believe Hillary is probably in a lot more trouble than we think or the media wouldn't have to do all this.

Hang in, kids. We're a long way from over.

Trooper York said...
