Went to see Love and Mercy last week. I give it an 8 out of 10. Both actors did very good jobs playing the idiosyncratic Brian Wilson. Giammatti did a superb job playing the creepy shrink.
One of those songs you stop to listen to wherever you are when it comes on the radio or jukebox. And right away you remember most of the words and sing along. Maybe give your sweetie a squeeze.
It reminds me of my youth in the Santa Clara Valley at that time. Junior high, high school. The big deal was to find someone who had a car or truck so we could all skip school in the spring, and go over the mountains to Santa Cruz and surf, play at the Boardwalk or just swim and lounge on the beach and.....ahem....other things too.

Thanks for the song, Chickelit, and great collection of memories DBQ. I was a tow headed kid who got burned many times in the fields of the corn belt. When I finally made it to CA I spent a summer in the Sierra's on Canyon Creek near Strawberry Valley. It was the early 70's and we all drank water straight from the streams. What a state. I kind of miss it.
There's a funny line in the flick, Love and Mercy. One of the brothers laments, "We don't surf, and surfers hate our music!" Much of the movie centers on the making of Pet Sounds. Not being a music buff, I thought I would just have to wade through that like I did in Keith Richards autobiography. But, the director made it interesting even to a dolt like me. Brian Wilson has fascinated me since I saw a doc on his life a while back. He was obsessed w/ harmonies. He thought "Be My Baby" by the Ronettes was the perfect harmony. His daughter said he would play that song constantly in the house.

I'm kinda sorta looking forward to the Brian Wilson biopic.
Not their best work, but, if it drives the feminuts nuts, go for it.

No one left the crowded theatre as Wilson played the title song as the credits rolled. What a tortured genius.

My fav beach boys song is "feel flows".
(or something like that)
A favorite Brian Wilson song "...girls from California break your heart and set you free."
Thanks, April!
Sure.
T for F "Elemental" is one of my top ten fav albums of all time. I don't get out much but there you have it.
Ah....Love this song. Nostalgia.

Beautiful red rock and collection of memories, DBQ. Ones a sphinx might even admire.
